0:00 Nvidia Goes Hard Against Intel And AMD
3:53 Why You Don't Buy These GPUs
6:23 Ryzen 8000 Desktop CPUs Are On Sale
7:18 New Ryzen APU GPU Killer
Tech companies: "AI here, AI there, AI, AI, ... LOVE ME ALREADY!!!!" Me: "Just make affordable hardware ffs."
The hardware is affordable. Spend a few hours doing some research into AI work and get thinking, your GPU can produce while you sleep, it will pay for itself. Nvidia targets AI for a reason, that is the money market, the majority of gamers are just too lazy, stupid or stubborn to take part in it. Can't turn down a free 4090 for a few hours of research ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

No, an APU will NOT beat a the most powerful mid-range card on the market right now. We've been hearing this for 14+ years.
Even if it manages to get remotely close to a 4070, it's a win.

I hope that was an editing error or a stutter or something, otherwise you might wanna get checked out buddy, hope all is well
There's a weird stutter at about 1:08 that maybe you missed in editing. It doesn't really take away from the video but it's a bit odd.
typo in the prompt and since his videos are just ai generated by nvidia it read it faster instead of smarter.
I love how the 8700F page that he shows lists the CPU Model as Ryzen 5 7600X
Will new APU require new motherboard... And what kind of cooling we will need for it ? + Is it wise to get new 3.0 psu, and case now ? + I'll be happy if it hits 4060 8gb + 7600x performance on QHD 1440p monitor.
8:00 wait apus get quad channel (256bits) ? does zen 5 get quad channel ? or is the memory integrated on chip ?
The Majority of Computing devices in use today are handheld (phones) and laptop devices. Where battery life is crucial and they cannot have a +100W dedicated AI processor. So for server farms and workstation PCs, which also cost a lot more, then they can have the premium features at the premium price tag with premium power draw. But for the rest of us, we'll need a solution that fits the profile of our daily usage on phones and laptops.
BRO, you have my major respect , I have been watching your channel for ages, BUT Bro I watched the video repeatedly for EDITS and that was no editing mistake. I can stutter on occasion but that moment at 1:09 needs review between you and your doctor. Totally caring about your health bro. 🙏
I highly doubt we are going to get APUs performing like a 4060-4070 this year... We had recently the Ryzen 8000 ones that get close to a GTX 1650, how do you get 2 to 3 times that performance so fast?.
If max AMD APU is about 4070, is there a point to get Navi 44?
The Strix Halo chart. Those are laptop GPUs not desktop. The 4050 is a mobile only and it makes sense for them all to be mobile since most of AMD's APU designs are laptop first designs.
granite ridge is desktop strix is for laptops
Nvidia and AMD can always fix this by adding the M label to there laptop GPUs of you miss lead your customers your compition will also miss lead them
Strix Halo 16 core looks like my new editing rig. I am curious how it holds up in 3-D rendering and video editing.

How will they cool the 40 processing core iGPU? They have to stick on top of an 8c/16t CPU an entire GPU chip. While that is doable I guess it will become double as thick the entire 2-in--one iGPU but how to cool the thing? Even my normal Asus Dual RX 6600 GPU chip which has 28 processing cores needs 2 aprox 90mm fans and an huge heatsink alone to be cooled. Even with that cooling solution the entire RX 6600 reaches a bit over 80 degrees Celsius on full load (undervolted). If they stack an GPU chip on top of an 8c/16t CPU then that thing would need on top at least 6 heatpipes and on all sides as well heatpipes to radiate off heat in case of an air cooler. Water or liquid metal coolers will most likely have an housing around 5 sides of the CPU/GPU for an all surrounding heat transfer. For sure it needs about 2 water radiators. It should be possible if they can radiate out the heat generated within the CPU/GPU combo stacked die to the outside mantle (housing of the CPU/GPU). But that would be an madness of heat generation within this stacked die even for an 8c/16t CPU. Imagine an 16c/32t CPU running at 6 GHz alone and an 7900 XTX die on top of that. The heat that would be generated inside of the CPU/GPU combo. It is doable with safe downclocking but then you most likely have an 4090 die which clocks down to an GT 1030 performance levels.
How long have you been putting out videos with a similar title? Since the 2400G or so?

I always thought you had a lot of cuts. I assume the stutter is the reason? I always reasoned it was just tangents. But the viewers are right it does sound more like a stroke stutter. I hope you are fine.
so how will thoose apu work will adrenaline software recognize them and you would have all the benift of normal gpu like scalling overclosking antilag and such, other thing is he mention this apu is like rx 7600 than later that it matches rtx 4070 but 4070 is on pair with rx 7900gre not on 7600 level.... kinda missleading infos
He doesn't say it matches, he says it has more CU cores than a 7600 xt, still doesn't make much sense since the chart is referencing nvidia gpu's
I think at some point iGPUs will overtake GPUs.. its becoming more and more evident that this is direction it will go in..
I just want a SteamDeck 2 with the new APUs
Well let's hope that their claimed performance is ture, and not PR/marketing fluff. If it is then it was worth the wait, and passing the 8000G APUs. Also if true I can't wait for ASRock to release some Deskmate cases for these APUs. It'll make one heck of a Steam Machine.
but the question is whether these APUs will be for desktop or they're for laptops?
Would it compete with Nvidia on Machine Learning with tensor and cuda cores?
Most likely not ;-)
Hawk Point has efficiency and performance fixes, it's a good improvement on Phoenix even without the faster clocked NPU.
Just commenting to let you know the 4070 title was more intriguing
1:07 Are you okay?
How is it possible that these igpu-s can go in a class of performance of a dedicated chip with dedicated memory and even more specialized memory like gddr? I’m not saying that it doesn’t but somewhere some things don’t add up. Either gddr7 offers minimal bandwidth benefits over ddr5 so they are put on dedicated cards mainly to justify higher prices or very edge use cases or there are some benefits and then these apu can’t be put in the same class of performance
Maybe there is quad channel support (I doubt it)
Omg it would be nice if the strix halo actually did that. Then they put the LP chips in handhelds. Or even found a cooling solution to allow the higher end chips in handhelds.
1:07 there was a glitch in the matrix. 🤣
it was a stroke
If they make a 4070 level APU, I can stick 128Gb ram, then run inference with 70B Llama3. Would be amazing.

It looks like I'll finally be able to build that tiny mITX gaming rig I've been wanting for years.
Wondering how they cool down those 4070-like APUs...
Strix Point Halo is supposed to operate below 130W. The Desktop 4070 operates at 230W. Even with a node difference, there's no way you can fit that thermal envelope into a SoC without major under clocking or throttling. What is more likely is, Strix Point Halo highest SKU will have a bunch of Zen 5/5c to minimise power draw and dedicate more power to the RDNA 3.5 core at 60-80W. The thermal solution will be pretty hefty for the highest SKU and my guess is prices will be crazy too. This means that thin & light gaming laptops will probably not use the highest SKU but we'll see if laptop makers figure something out.
Strix Halo was rated 45-175 watts, quite the configuration room - of course one would doubt we'll get 175W laptop models, Nvidia would at least force OEMs to scrap these ideas. And the assumption that the stated 4070 is a desktop one is most likely wrong - Nvidia should fix their false marketing strategies anyway. The 4050 we see is a mobile exclusive too - another hint.
Bro. Why do u say but with so mych emphasis and breathing?
These apu's will be perfect for a pc based xbox, steam machine, or sffpc. I would easily buy one that matched a 4060 and be perfectly happy.
1:08 ????
He forgot to cut that part
Stroke
Honestly, I wouldn't mind if invidia made a low profile cards with there m chips. I kinda miss 1 and 2 slot gpus.
promise of 4070 level performance does make me skeptical because i also had high expectations from 780m. thought it's not bad by any means but the desktop versions of this apu is not worth it for the price. in my opinion 780m's only chance is at handheld market, to beat the golden standard steam deck, rog ally (z1 extreme) is still pricy at the moment at above £500, but i assume they gonna drop price more when orange pi neo comes out, let's see... i hope to see AMD maintain these three things because price+performance+tdp=perfection.
Hopefully Strix Halo will come to desktop and also soldered
Clearly, "Basic" and "Better Quality" are persuasive metrics. Quantification done marketing style.
That's what I've been waiting for. I live tiny, powerful PCs.
The apu leak text says it is aming for rtx 4070 mobil gpu performance not Desktop performance
I think the AI cores incorporated into the CPU will be for something called small language models. Expect that video games and office will offer capabilities that leverage those cores to create new experiences.
The vast majority of nvidia's AI use cases seem to have been achievable just fine without their overly expensive AI hardware, and certainly not anything that a regular gamer or consumer would ever need to worry about. Its the old 'create a problem' and offer a solution to it.
i am definately getting strix halo maximum spec x3D
4070!? I’d be willing to finally ditch my 1080ti for that
8700 link no worky
For some reason was scary to see you stuck
surreal and super scary 😳
Not quite sure these APUs will really beat the midrange GPUs, especially since they probably would not be fed the same power. Of course if the prices of AMD APUs not skyrocket having such an APU saves you money when building a medium level system, but the real interesting usecase for iGPUs are laptops, primarely to save power and cause less heat. SO maybe in some ideal testlab while feeding a Ryzen 9 9999X 300W of power it maybe could duke it out with a 4070, I'd be more interested in what performance we could expect from the iGPU of a Ryzen 9840HS(or whatever these would be called) 35W APU and a 9740u 15W APU. Halo LP doesn't seem that impressive, given that the current 780M beats a 3050 in performance/W already, its just fed way lower power.
It's sad to see that the APU is no longer a cheap type of CPU anymore, the performance is better but the price is increasingly unaffordable... this is clear considering the price of the 8600g yesterday which was really high, this doesn't make sense😢 Is there still an Athlon class CPU in the 9000g series? I really hope there is one even though it only has 2 cores..😮💨
Using the APU with a GPU help with GPU performance?
Just in some rare occasions as far as I know
I can hear someone stuttering
Can they make a gaming AI laptop that just manages battery usage so that when I surf the web it sips power instead of chugging it?

This is a very good thing. This is how a gaming PC should be. Think of the billions of watts saved by every gamer, every single day and the savings that goes into buying a new PC.
AI PC of Intel/AMD is like Integrated GPU against dedicated GPU for gaming. For casual gaming like DOTA2, MineCraft, or online games, IGPU is OK. But latest games like BG3 requireds expensive dedicated GPU. So AI application will be categorized as casual AI and hard core AI. Most applications for home and office work will use casual (basic) AI capability of integrated NPU. Serious professional work or state-of-art gaming will require dedicated AI GPU for premium AI. I think that something like 100-300 TOPS will be such threshold between basic and premium AI. RTX4060 is about 200 TOPS.
AMD AI having bug at 1:08 😅
-Strix Halo might be exactly what I've been wishing for all the time.- The 5700G was already very helpful during the pandemic when even a 3060 was too expensive for most gamers I know. The problem was just that it was slower than a 1060 6 GB so most of us kept playing with the 1060. -If Strix Halo is as fast as a 4070 for less money than a used 3070 then I'm getting it.- Edit: It says the Strix series is planned for gaming laptops so it might only be soldered and not available for AM5 desktop sockets. Let's not rejoice too soon.
Those GPUs isn't for US or other developed country, in Brazil we bought it a lot, but it's because we don't have the possibility to buy new GPU at a decent price, people in US are arguing because a GPU priced at 500U$ to 1200U$ (i'm not criticizing you're right, the less U$ a GPU cost the better for us) but in Brazil, our GPU sells at 2k 4k sometimes even highter, our currency runs 5x cheaper than US but we have the same salary basecaly (tax and currency fault), we have a LOT of problems with used and retail GPUs, but you guys don't need this headache, just buy a used from a friend or a new one, you will thank me later for this
Imagine a Deskmini with 8 Zen5 Cores and 24CU APU.
4070 Laptop maybe, not the 4070 DESKTOP.
There's a 4050 in the chart - and that's already a hint, that's a mobile exclusive. AMD is going to be forced to even clarify it in their internal slides so that leakers don't try to create false hype for Nvidia's marketing team to use later.
@@herobrinecyberdemon8104 Yes there is and obviously the laptop counterpart, but the guy in this video said “we’re looking at 4070 desktop class of performance” and what a joke
@@yusmeow Leakers always say crap that has nothing to do with reality. Then Nvidia marketing team picks that up. Almost like its intentional.
I can't see an apu matching 4070 levels of performance that just seems insane. Going by previous microarchitecture performance increases you can assume real world performance which obviously increases with the technical development. It just seems basically impossible that an igpu sharing cpu resources on a single soc by definition is not going to compete with a current generation dgpu with its own die vram and power delivery. Probably more like beating a low end dgpu from 5 yrs ago and close to or slightly above a low midrange from that same era. No way it's competition for a current gen nvidia dgpu which already usually beats amd in performance and never will since gpus are evolving faster than cpus already.
Does this mean, with teh APU with 40CU not require a beefy PSU?? that will make PC building so much cheaper and cleaner thus less cables, all required CPU and MB cables...can't wait! I'd love to build a ITX HTPC based on a AMD APU my TV in the lounge is a 2011 Samsung 60hz 1080p so I think that APU will be perfect.
Unless the RDNA 3.5 cores are 50% faster core on core (Super highly unlikely) compared to RDNA3, that APU is not even coming close to the 7700XT. Edit: How do I know it wont be 50% faster? RDNA 2 to RDNA 3 was only about 20% uplift core to core based off the 7800XT and the RX 6800

these companies are hoping Ai will optimize their hardware/ software that runs on their hardware. its like adding AI on the smartphones to optimize the power draw, screen refresh or improving photo capture. btw those chipped mobile gpu chips might have a micro-fracture across the whole top, so when it heats up, it might expand in unexpected manner cracking along the whole die
AI should be on a separate M.2 card if anything. More business for Nvidia if they want it, and doesn't mess with GPU.

These APUs prolly gonna cost a lot 😒
Itx build will be awesome
I love integrated GPU, or APUs, as it makes it much easier to game on a lower end laptop without having to deal with laptop GPU jank.
mmm expect an $800-$1000 APU at which point would completely defeat the purpose of an APU aside from extreme small form factors that is if you can keep them cool in them. Not to mention they are coming with up to 16 cores as well, so my price prediction probably won't be far off. Dedicated lesser GPUs will still always have their place when having a budget in mind.
The main purpose would be forcing OEM partners to finally offer all-AMD gaming laptop systems and to not shove low-end RTX crap cause they have their allegiance to Jensen Huang. There's a RX 7600M, and how many system using it were released? As a matter of fact AMD have their sales statistics, and likely drew conclusions from them... Once making these low-end GPUs becomes unprofitable for them they'll scrap them - but consumer retards would only notice it once the xx60 non-ti class Nvidia cards become 500$+, then complain there's no competition till they have enough money to buy more RTX crap.
strix halo(LP)has 20 cus and access rtx 3050 level, and strix halo has 40 cus amd access rtx 4070 level, you must be ridiculous
