This video will provide valuable data and statistics on how long "half ton" trucks last and rank them based on a high mileage study. This can help determine which trucks may be the most reliable and last the longest. Trucks analyzed include the Nissan Titan, Chevy Silverado, Ford F150, Toyota Tundra, and GMC Sierra. Trucks are separated between V6 and V8 engines. This study does not include 3/4 ton or 1 ton trucks (ie. heavy duty, diesel, etc.) - Bill

Maintenance is key here folks. Change your oil like its a religion
2002 Silverado 5.3 just passed 741,000 original engine, nothing internal yet. Lost trans at 669,900. Pushing for one million.
Trutly amazing and glad to hear a truck going that long.
Congratulations, I remember when in 99 that body style came out and everyone was wondering if the 5.3 would be a high mileage motor. Gm trucks were a big deal when I was a kid in the 90s I grew up in Genesee County Michigan I was about 4 miles out of flint. So gm products I had about 9 family members working for gm and a bunch retired. It was god family gm trucks or hot rods. I talked my brother n law into buying a 2001 GMC Sierra with 243,000 he was apprehensive but it was only 1700$ he had the truck 4 years with 400,000 something now. I hope you get to 1million plus
Got the exact same truck with about 250,000k miles on it love the tank!
How’s it going now?
I got 5.3 Silverado 1500 2016, 171000 on it now, hope it can reach ur mileage
My brother has a 2012 f150 with the first gen 3.5 ecoboost, the truck has 272k miles on it and runs strong, he hasnt had to do anything major to this truck. definitely a strong solid truck.
I also have a ecboost that has 250k miles and I have don't to the true is oil changes
I have a 2014 f150 with a 3.5 ecoboost, at 183k and the 2nd turbo is about to go out at another $3k. I'm done with ecoboost.
Just asking for knowledge. Do you drive it to work or is a work truck. Do you tow anything?
I have a 2013 fx4 EcoBoost it had 3 miles on it I have 235,000 and the only time i took it into the dealer was recall stuff minor things and a bad sparkplug gap causing a misfire. I got a lot a flack for buying it but I've never had an issue I hope i can hand it down and keep it in family I've been so impressed with it.
They are going on 12 years with the 3.5 ecoboost and they keep perfecting them. I wouldn't hesitate to get one if I wanted a new truck. The 2.7s are supposedly so far, are very good. Ford will perfect the ecoboost and are pretty dam good at making them . The 2.7s are going on thier 7th year.
I just picked up a 1991 Ford F-150 short box 300 inline 6 with 525,000 miles on it runs like a top, paid $900 for it , from Texas!!
1994 FORD F-350 Crew cab. 5.8 373,000 miles.
I have a 2007 Ford f150 with the 4.6 engine and I got over 400,000 mi on it in the truck still rides great four is the best
2012 Ford F150 XLT 5.0 Coyote 203k still chasing Road Runners and Armadillos here in Missouri.
05 Silverado 2500 HD work truck w/ 6.0 litre V8. I bought this truck in 2010 with 82,000 mi on it at an auction for $10,000 primarily to serve as my trailer pulling equipment hauling workhorse. She now has 318,000 on her with the original motor in transmission. And let me tell you, while I take good care of my equipment, this truck has been WORKED. Runs strong and still blows cold air out of the dash! It's also worth noting that These older Iron Block LS "Vortec" engines seem to run much more efficiently with ethanol free gas.
2011 f150 ecoboost with 464 000 km, still original engine and transmission
I have a 2013 Ford F-150 with 208,000 miles 5.0 engine. Runs great, looks excellent. “Just keep doing your oil changes” 😉
My 2010 ford f150 4x4 crew cab platinum with 140,000 miles is running great engine, transmission and rear end are quiet and purr so beautifully, no cabin noise either
My 2003 F150 5.4 2wd at 396,000. All original powertrain and runs silent. I got this at 322,000 and the only problem has been a heater hose, a 5 minute repair. This was an electrical contractor truck. It's in good shape. 03/08/2022. Now at 398,000. I just replaced spark plugs and the original coil packs and an oil change. Runs amazing. 05/28/22 400,700 miles and good as ever.
2013 F150 3.7 v6 with 241,000. All original. Just religious maintenance and it’s been awesome.
Just sold my 11 3.7 235500 miles and never ever used or leaked oil. Just bought a 2019 XLT pretty loaded with the little 3.3L NA. Love my new truck and don’t wish for twin turbos.
Love these videos. Especially truck videos. Please include the years on these trucks as well next time. And please dont be afraid to make more half ton truck videos or any truck videos for that matter. The more details the better. Good job.
I’ve got a 2003 dodge Ram 4.7 with a little over 247,000 miles right now still going strong.
Just about to roll over 300,000 miles on my 2013 5.0 F150 and it still runs like the day I got it new. (Update- Now at 350,000 miles 😊👍)
I have the same truck 2013 F-150 w/5.0 engine, 208,000 miles, “love this truck” no problems, just keep changing the oil. 😉 California.
my 2013 5.0 324k and strong, no oil use.
i have the 2013 F 150 with the V 6 159k runs as good as the day i bought it and ill never sell it she will die with me lol\
My 2010 ford f150 has 236k and is the same still like new I upgrade things as ot ages but i love it
Great info ,thanks. Just got a high mileage 5.3 GMC. Runs like new so far. Corrected the valve cover issue with the after market modified.
It's good to see a video from you again!
Pro Bass Angler Randy Blaukat put over 400,000 miles on his 2014 RAM 1500 5.7 hemi with 80% of that distance towing a 21 foot bass boat!!
Dam that’s very very very impressive
Long haul vehicles will typically do that. Fewer heat cycles, less time running on cold oil, fuel is always fresh, oil is always fresh, starter gets used less, etc.
2007 Tundra 5.7. 250k miles many of them tough ones. New shocks and struts and the starter went out last year. Runs great same engine, same transmission even still has the same plugs. Not only is the powertrain extremely solid the interior is has nothing loose or squeaking. Reliability at its best.
isnt it funny. buddy of mine traded his 07 tundra in for a 2016, he had 350,000kms on it, he too had done the shocks and struts, said the new one rode just the same as the old... he tows a closed in trailer all week for work, then often has sleds, wheelers or boats on the back on the weekends. unreal trucks, no question i bought one... i'm keeping it 20 years, not because i can't afford a new one, because i don't need a new one
Just bought a used tundra 2010 with 110k miles for 22k. Hope it last for ever!!! 💙
My 1999 f 150 4.6 has 209,000+ miles. I am the third owner, my brother bought it from the original owner in Florida and brought it to California so no snow winters. The truck has never even towed a jet ski and it still runs like a sewing machine. The only money that I have put into it besides maintenance is some front end suspension work. My mechanic told me that it is worth keeping even if it needs some transmission work down the road.
Your approach is stellar, thanks for the info & saving me some time on doing excessive research
Awesome! Thanks for watching.
02 Chev with over 500K , no major repairs just a lot of maintenance and tires over the years
Great to have you back Bill. One of the very best car info channels out there. My wife and I just bought a used 2003 Toyota Avalon from your recommendation and we absolutely love it. Got a great deal and it's in great condition, only 1 owner. Wanted to thank you for all the time, energy, and thoughtful consideration that goes into these videos. You're the best brother, hope you and the family stay well!
Hey there, I just noticed your post. Thank you for the kind words. Hope the Avalon is doing well.
@@carsthatlast441 Great to hear from you Bill. All is well, thanks. The Avalon is still going strong at 285K. Wonderful vehicle.
Great to see a new upload.
Thank you for this presentation.
Excellent video. Thank you very much for sharing!
Your video was God sent. I've been doing research on which small truck to get and narrowed it down to the avalanche & Ridgeline. Thanks to you I'll feel at ease getting the avalanche. Thank you
He really forgot about all the transmission problems on them old dodges
yah my transmission was like hitting a boulder from 1st to 2nd gear lol
No need to write "old" before dodge
Hes a jackass
Dodge trucks had no major issues. Chrysler had some issues with their FWD transmissions for a while. Lol, people will parrot anything they hear from every tool. Chrysler's rear drive transmissions were always solid from the 727 up to the current 8 speed.
@@magnusatheos7301 fca doesn't make the 8 speed.
Thank you for the video..Have a blessed day..
Mine is an '07 Dodge Ram 1500 4.7 I bought new with 8 miles on it. Currently has 240012 as of 12-26-20. Before this I got 243,000 plus some change out of my Dodge Dakota with a 4 cylinder, I called it my Singer sewing machine engine and after that many miles the wrist pins came loose allowing the pistons to hammer a couple of plugs flat but it went until it couldn't, no complaints from me, it served well.. I'll keep the Ram going as well until it just won't. Thumbs up on an informative researched channel.
i have a 96 nissan hardbody with 330K and still runs fine
Ecoboost started in 2011 not 2009 (for f150)
HW Simmons nope started in 2009
@@prithvimann1539 I'm talking about in the f150, sorry didn't clarify.
HW Simmons it’s alright

I have 2005 Ford ranger with over 400k miles. I will keep it until all my hair turned gray.
I’m 35 and already Turning grey lol I would say until the wheels fall off. Lol
That’s what every ranger owner says
Every one with a Ford Ranger says that.
Interesting data. I’m impressed with the F150s numbers (20.3%) considering the sample size (4000.) I wonder how the other vehicles would stack up with similar sample sizes.
I have an 09 f150 fx4 with 249k. Running strong just replaced the ac compressor but so far so good. Change the oil regularly every 3k with full synthetic.
Just traded a mustang for an 08 f150 with 280k but runs strong and has great body hopefully I get some miles out of her
Always interesting, thanks.
2014 f-150 with eco boost 212,000 miles. Only problem so far is leaking coolant from turbo on both sides replaced in the last year. About $500 fix for each. great truck so far
Pleaseee let me know if you have sufficient information on a 3.4 tun gas trucks what goes bad and what’s good? Love the channel!,
Interesting video, I personally own a 1988 Chevy obs C1500 with 256,000 original miles on the original drivetrain still running strong and driven daily 😁
I have a 2006 Silverado from Texas. It's held up really well here in MI. It gets a yearly rust proofing on the underside and I wax it before winter. So far 160k miles and half of those have been in Michigan. It's holding up really well.
Not too confident in my 15 Silverado. Direct injection and AFM are creating more issues than it solves.
Because of the issues with the AFM starting in 2007 I looked over 9 months for a pre 07 Silverado. Found an 04, 4.8 V8, 118k miles.
I can’t stand AFM, a dumb invention
I cant believe how expensive these trucks are now days. I just bought a 2015 Ford F150 Lariat 4x4 5.0 V8 with 113K and it was still 35 grand. It is really clean, like new clean not a stain anywhere but dang that's expensive. Its a beautiful truck, I did some looking around and everything I saw was around the same price for year and make/model so it wasn't like they over priced it, they're just crazy expensive these days. I hope I can get over 300k on it because I'm going to have to drive it for a long time to justify the price tag.
Same here, 2019 Super cab 44000 miles near perfect but just the 3.3L NA. Beautiful truck and plenty of power for me especially in sport mode. I’m confident it will last forever and I love the aluminum body. $34000 a month or so ago. 👍
@@oldkicker8958 Nice buy, looks like they're coming down a little bit from when I bought mine (2021). The sport mode does have a lot of power. I try not to use it too much with the price of fuel these days...lol. I have 145k on it now and the truck is still running nicely.
@@DrewJ79 👍
1997 F150 Lariat 5.4 V8 2WD 464,000 miles. I always use premium gas with Seafoam. Used to use Valvoline High Mileage Synthetic Blend 5W30. Now use full synthetic. Worst problem was head gasket around 300,000. Now my trans is just starting to slip and I have to run with Overdrive turned off.
175000 on my 4.8 liter 2008 gmc sierra...21000 when i bought it used.going strong...
have a 98 dodge dakota, 5.2 auto 4x4, bought it new. just about to turn 400,000 miles normal maintenance, only major work has been heater core/water pump replacement done at same time, still has original starter, alternator and transmission. proper maintenance makes the difference
I have a 2007 GMC Sierra 1500 extended cab 4x4 with 153,500 miles. I bought it with 92,000 back in 2011. I have replaced the oil pressure sensor, of course the plugs and wires, the fuel tank straps (rusted away), the entire brake system (lines completely rusted away and started blowing out) and replaced the lines with stainless and that sucked. Now I'm considering getting a new truck later this year.
My dad bought a new Silverado in 09 with the v8. He beats that poor trucks to hell. Currently has more than 300k miles and is surprisingly still running. Helped me decide to go with Chevy when buying a truck last year.
I have an 2003 chevy silverado 1500 with the 5.3L. Has 207k. My instrument cluster did go out like this, ended up just replacing it. It has some minor leaks but the engine still runs very strong. It's all stock. Outside of some rust in common areas, I plan to keep it till something major breaks.
4:48 I agree. My dad had a 2013 GMC Acadia and it lasted till 339,000 Miles which is pretty cool, but my dad sadly sold it which made me sad.
I have a 2007 f150 with the 5.4 an mine has 240,000 miles still running great
I have a 2011 f150 v6 200k had a transmission lead frame replaced, starter, tune up regular oil changes every 3-4k miles. The majority are interstate miles.
Nice vid mate
01 dodge dakota with a 4.7 at 269k presently, still gets over 20 mpg highway and runs very strong . The previous owner must have been meticuloud about fluid change intervals because it still runs and drives like new
My dad owns a 2004 F150 has 230,000 miles on it still going strong we used it for hauling wood and cars It's been through a lot of work
I had a 05 f150 with the 4.6L and I sold it at 315k

I have a 2007 Silverado with over 360,000 miles transmission shops won't service mine transmission shops says they won't touch it and if I'm not having a problem, I will
350000 plus on My 2004 150. replaced trannie 3 yrs ago. not much rust and I haul scrap metal and farm supplies. Does not burn oil , but leaks out rear main. lol
In you travels online did you have any input from the Ford 460
Very good vid and one I have waited to see. We are pretty die hard Toyota CAR fans, but for trucks the Nissan Frontier is my pic for a small truck, and the old "square body" pre 1988 Chevys are my favorite full size truck.
Thanks!
My 2007 ford 5.4L V8 have just reached 200k miles with no problem in the engine (so far). Only changed spark plugs once.
I have a 2004 5.4 triton with 220,000.. my neighbor had 250,000 before he moved away and another guy had over 300,000

2nd gen 3/4 Ton 5.9 with 180k, just replaced the engine. Previous owner didn't take care of the truck at all, havent been having any issues with the transmission. The engine was a mess though considering the neglect.

And last but certainly not least a 2007 Classic GMC LBZ Duramax crew cab 4x4 190,000 miles and still a stout puller. All with original powertrains.

I have a 97 F-150 4.6l with 250k on the clock . With that said, I think vehicles from mid 90s to mid 2000s are more reliable in general. Today’s trucks are more comfortable and techy but are less reliable. They can have that one or two more MPG alongside the problems that come with it. Good vid!
Amen! Late 90s-early 2000s were the pinnacle of reliability and longevity IMO. Gramps had a 95 Olds 88 with 3800 v6 that got 32 mpg highway and lots of get up and go! Once the EPA got involved, they ruined a lot of things, including the 3800 (series 3 of that motor only got mid 20s mpg)
I have a Nissan Titan V8 2006 with 328,000 miles and still going. It’s the best in the market and I will drive it until the engine dies👊🏿
Yes, keep driving that truck! We happen to own a 2005 Pathfinder 4.0L and it's almost to 200K, it runs like brand new, just fixed a major issue back this summer!

I've always had high mileage vehicle's. Alota folks shy away from them but when ya don't have the best credit and have to pay cash for things ...... ya gotta take what ya can get. I just recently sold my 06 f-150 that had just shy of 300k on it.... and I was lazy on the oil changes...... the transmission made it to 260k before finally going out and when I took it in to be rebuilt the shop was amazed because they said it still had the orginal fluid and filter from the factory.... had never been touched. Currently In my driveway is my 04 Silverado with 265k on it.....and I swear it's been close to a year since I changed the oil in the thing.... and it gets driven 150 miles a day. And just a month ago i picked up a 2010 f-150 platinum with the 5.4 3v with 250k on it...... but beat believe I will stay on top of oil changes on the Ford. I really feel like they mad great trucks in the early mid 2000's......and don't be like me..... change your damn oil! 😂😂😂 I just got lucky 💁♂️
Lol thanks for the post. I think there are a lot of awesome cars and trucks in the early 2000s for sure. Lots of them went to crap when the economy taked in 08 and 09. Change those fluids!!! Lol

I just saw a review from a 2011 ford f150 ecoboost motor and he turned 400,000 miles in it in 2020. He said coil packs were the only troublesome component he dealt with. The ecoboost issues typically stem from delaying oil changes from the manufacturers recommendations and/or using the incorrect oil viscosity.
On online mechanic said the biggest problem he sees with the Ecoboost F150's is people driving them too gently and the wastegates start to get stuck. Drive 'em hard enough to use the turbo a few times a week at least and it'll probably be fine.
