La Brea: the real tar pits | Los Angeles, CA
The La Brea tar pits are now famous with the NBC show La Brea, but did you know this place actually exists? It's located in the Miracle Mile district of Los Angeles, and anyone can see this Ice Age-era tar pit and its bubbles up close and for free. Come discover what the real La Brea is really like!
From there, you'll see the Museum Row along Wilshire Blvd, including the famous LACMA and its lamps. We end up walking until the Farmer's Market and The Grove for a delicious quesadilla.

► WHO AM I?
I am a Brazilian-American journalist living in Florida. After traveling the world working with sports, news, and events for over 15 years, I realized that what I really love is the travel part of it all. So I exchanged life in the newsrooms and stadiums for the daily challenge of being an independent content producer. I created this channel to share the beauties of the world... stuff that for so long I only kept to myself. Also to help people planning similar trips and to inspire more people to venture out and enjoy life!
P.S.: The funny guy who appears in the vlogs is my husband, Gordon. He is Canadian-American and he's actually camera-shy, that's why he's behind the camera most of the time 😉

Renata: I can't wait to watch ALL these great videos that you are going to releases in January of 2022!
That is the first time I have seen videos of the tar pits and lived in Orange County for 8 years, but never made it to see them of the Farmers Market. They do have good Mexican in SoCal, I do remember that.
Yes, the pits seemed to be very overlooked. Now the TV show should shine a little light on them
Always such a joy to tag along with you on your meandering routes. It's like living out different lives, all at the same time. I love the experience. Thank you! : )
So wonderful of you! We are happy to have you along!
Why do you always make me so happy with your vlogs? This video also shines like a pearl. Thank you Renata and give my regards to Gordon. Belgium is watching you !

Renata: Thanks you so much for these great videos that you just started releasing in January of 2022!
You are so welcome!
I have lived there too for 2.5 years before moving out to Ventura County.
Cool, you know the area well
Good video! Next time you're in LA, check out the historic Gilmore Gas Station that's now a Starbucks. The Gilmore family owns the original Farmers Market. It was a farm, but then they discovered oil, & they became one of the leading producers of oil products in the US. The gas station that's now a Starbucks (at Highland & Willoughby) was one of their very first gas stations. The city of LA outlawed the oil wells within the city limits, so the Gilmores had to close down their oil wells & look for new uses for their land. The Farmers Market was born shortly after. I really enjoy your videos! Thanks for such great city tours!
Thank you very much Jasmine! Wished we stopped at the Starbucks. Thanks for the information.

Sucesso!
wonderful places and video. god bless you both. Love from Ahmedabad, India
Thank you very much.
That's why they made the movie La Brea. I'm waiting for season 2.

Hey Renata! Many thanks for this LA ideas especially Korea Town and the Oscars Museum. Originally, I intended staying in L.A. for eight nights in 2020, than, I had to postpone it to 2023 or so. But I will enjoy the city´s sights even more by then! Doing a helicopter ride over the hollywood stars´ houses, enjoying beach life, rooftop evenings... And combining it with Sanfrisco, San Diego and one or two Hawaiian islands. I really love your channel and I am looking forward to your new Mexico series as I also intend travelling there in coming years (maybe Mexico City in combination with Belize and Panama City). =)
Hello and thank you for watching/following. You will enjoy California it is a very special place. We have more videos of Orange Cty and San Diego coming up
@@RenataPereiraTV Great, many thanks. Looking forward to that! =)
Thank you for the parking tips and for the Miracle Mile Street with lots of museums. Had you folks been to Universal Studios as well ? Cheers

@2:35: You're both right to be fair... as the Tatars indeed became well-known for their minced meat preparations that could later be found in the culinary traditions everywhere from Poland to Vietnam.
I went there with a school outing, it's the pits!!

Aw, ya didn't do the thru Park La Brea quickie to get to the Grove/Farmer's Market...? Okay, granted, if you don't know "the maze", you can get lost- but still =p
Yes, another way to get thru...thanks for sharing
The one thing i hate about LA is the car oriented lifestyle. Car car and more car. I'm now living and working in Jakarta and boy the difference in attitude with LA when it comes to public transport is just massive. I still remember taking my family back in 2016 to La Brea and we got stuck in traffic 😂😂😂. Bumper to bumper almost on a daily basis.
Indeed and it only gets worse as LA is building up...more condensed living. It was fascinating to the the changes in 10 years.
Hello renatinha. Take me to los angeles
HAHA...wish you could have been there
I know the La Brea Tar Pits for the movie Volcano (1997)
In Trinidad 🇹🇹 there is one of the biggest pitch lake in the world
I had dinner at a plantation house in Georgia back in the early 80,s…. They had potatoes cooked in tar pits…. They were soooooo good , but I wondered , why do you have a tar pit?????
Yes, interesting
Fort Sill Oklahoma also has Asphalt Pits but certainly not as colorful and famous as those in Los Angeles..
Thanks for sharing. I will have to remember for when I am in OK.
Even people and domestic dogs were found in the Tar Tar pits. They dated the woman at 9500 years. So people did get stuck in the tar pits. Next Vegas trip, skip the casinos and visit Springs Preserve. It's another ice age fossil site.
Thank you for the suggestion. We never heard of it
V nice🇵🇰💌
thanks!
She's way too excited
Why?
Salam Jakarta renata ✋
Terima kasih dan terima kasih sudah menonton
If we fall in those tar pits we might not come back out for 50 million years 😬

Hahhaha I look uncle Gordon doesn't like chili sauces...., But it if you visit to menado and Celebes city exactly you can find it so many hot foods and woooww Very hot chili..., Hahahah so do I, I can't eat chili . And someday if you come to North Sulawesi and go to the tomohon market ... hahahaha a little scary because many people sale all the animals inside. So many people eat all the animals...🥵🥵🥵🙄🙄🙄🤭🤭🤭🤭"",...Ok? mum and uncle...I love u. Enjoy your journey.
