What's weird is seeing foreigners who I guess don't know what skunks are, and they'll pet the skunks as if they were cats. I keep waiting for one of them to get sprayed in the face for it, but so far I've never seen it happen. But damn do they make an awful smell when they get hit by cars.

    • Or these animals were constantly being fed by people in this place and they stopped being afraid, this also happens. Bears are often forced to be shot in our area, because many people want to feed a wild animal and they get used to easy food, hanging around, attacking dogs and digging in the trash.

      @fallometr@fallometr6 ай бұрын
    • @@fallometr Yeah, that happens. People think it's nice to feed a wild animal, but then the animals slowly start depending on it and forget how to hunt, since begging and stealing is just way easier. They really can be annoying if you're trying to sleep. I learned to live with them and their noise. I lived there for 9 years and heard the howlers many many times. I miss them and that kind of stuff there. To me it's not a mistake to get that hotel, it's a blessing and an adventure and it's part of why Costa Rica is absolutely awesome.
