    • The dam operators unleashed the dammed up water because the huge snowpack from the Rockies will replenish the reservoir quickly as it melts. It helps to actually LISTEN instead of revealing yourself as a dummy.

  • It’s almost amusing that it is believed that high flow releases, from nearly crystal clear-settled-sediment free water, aids in beach building in The Canyon. Beach building happened during spring thaws in the past (before the Glen Canyon Dam) because the sediment load was present.

  • At least the water will be caught by the downstream dam unlike the overspill releases from reservoirs in the SW where the water is headed out to sea.

  • Yet another explanation, I read CO reservoirs were almost full last year=their river me 1st during drought and it will take little snow melt to full pool so they’re releasing now to protect their systems. I also read better to shut Glen Canyon dam down than the work needed. Looks like both reservoirs will have enough to generate hydropower and deliver water to Mead. I can’t imagine CA drawing on Mead 2023, we have no place to put it, expecting snowmelt to last well into summer.

  • The snow pack did not cause the release of water into the Colorado, the person opening the pen-stocks did and the dam authority said it was to renew the beaches in the Grand Canyon. I have rafted the canyon twice and hiked it numerous times camping on the beaches, they don't go away. The release is the fill lake Mead so Los Vegas does not go without water. This is an economic BS story.

    • So you're ignorant, too.

      @Abe18874@Abe18874 Жыл бұрын
    • The beaches in the canyon do erode over time at lower flows; daily water fluctuations carry the sand downstream. The higher surge releases restore the beaches by simulating natural flood events that allow sand and sediment to move downstream and scrub away overgrowth of vegetation in the riparian zone. They have done that periodically over the years; if they didn’t the canyon ecosystem would become increasingly unhealthy.

      @JamieLow@JamieLow Жыл бұрын
    • You sure are arrogant in not knowing WTF you are talking about. A fungus had been developing along the river banks. The release was to flush the fungus. Nevada has never once taken their full allocation of water, so that really shoots a hole in your nonsense.

    • You're not well informed and it shows with your ignorance in your comment. The water release is usually done in the fall but because of the massive 140% over capacity snows in the Rockies they decided to do two huge releases this year. The snowmelt in the Rockies this past two months provided the BLM the necessary assets to do two releases. Better inform yourself

Now you can't find a skinny person and diabetes is running rampant. Our Government and Dr's don't want you to see this. It would ruin the medical pharmaceutical companies. Our Government doesn't want to admit they were wrong with the food pyramid. Everyone would try suing them because it is their fault. Face it if we are eating 70% more agricultural good and 70% less meat. Well it goes and proves we are wasting water on stuff that makes us sick. We won't do hungry without agriculture. We will get skinny and healthier without it.
