LED chaser circuits are electronic circuits that are designed to create an interesting visual effect by sequentially illuminating a series of LEDs in a specific pattern. These circuits typically use a microcontroller or a timer IC to generate a series of pulses that drive the LEDs in a specific sequence, creating a chasing effect. The LEDs can be arranged in a variety of patterns, such as circular, linear, or even in the shape of a specific object.
LED chaser circuits are commonly used in decorative lighting, such as holiday lights and stage lighting, but they can also be used in practical applications, such as traffic signals and warning lights. They are relatively simple to design and build, making them a popular project for hobbyists and electronics enthusiasts.
One popular type of LED chaser circuit is the "Knight Rider" circuit, which is inspired by the iconic LED light pattern on the front of the KITT car from the 1980s TV show "Knight Rider." This circuit uses a microcontroller or timer IC to generate a series of pulses that sequentially light up a row of LEDs in one direction and then reverse the sequence, creating a back-and-forth chasing effect.

  • Isn't a flip flop a sort of triggerable means of storing bits? This right here however is unstable, if I remember 6th grade correctly that's more specifically an astable multivibrator 😂

  • Thats not a flip flop. Its a ASTABLE MULTIVIBRATOR. FLIP FLOP saves state from given data input.
