Have a 2011 V10 manual spyder. I replaced the shocks early on, and the AC compressor needs to be done. And I did the brakes. Car is built like a tank. I absolutely love the car.
what did you replace them with? passive??
KW passive coil overs. Lowered a bit. Incredible handling.
Really useful content. Thanks for posting.
excellent video for future buyers
Great guide, nice camera work 👍
Thank you for this video !!!
Very well done. Excellent.
Excellent video very informative I’m hoping that you will be at the Bo’ness Car Show and bring your RS6?
Brilliant video! Car looks awesome although I may be biased 😅

Audi is my fav since i was 17 now im 22 and i still want it
Hi mate. Good video. Is a R tronic less good than a manual?
Great pointers. All things we took into consideration on our gated v10 spyder as well. with only 8k miles a couple of these things still needed to be addressed.
Thanks for the comment. Great cars but those prices sure can add up!
Is this also for a 2020 or 2023 audi r8?
I heard they also have electrical issues. I really am considering buying one and I want to make sure I’m not messing up.
What do you think about gen 2 r8? Gavin gen 1 GT spyder and a gen 2 v10plus coupe… both in Suzuka gray.. I’m thinking if stay with both for collective reasons or let go the gen 2…!
Nice
Hi Scotty. I love your channel. The Audi R8 is a nice car. There is just not my cup of tea, lol wicked video. 😅🇨🇮👋👋👋
Just starting to look at getting an R8, great video, whats the road tax for these in the UK?
£695 - top group
Same issues as my 08 civic
What is it about the Audi R8 Mag-ride shocks that makes them unreliable? There doesn't seem to be anything obvious about the mag-ride system that would affect the seals any more than any other shock. Other Audi models have the mag-rides and they don't seem to be such a problem or as expensive to replace. Is it a case that all shocks can leak, and it is the R8's replacement cost that make them a concern? For example, do passive shocks need replacing just as often, but are then cheaper to replace?
Is he Russell Crowe’s stunt double in Gladiator?
PLEASE do more GTR content!!!
You got it... coming soon. I better see a comment on it when it does drop! :-D cheers
@@ScottishCarClan Cant wait!
👏👏👏
👍😊
I’m assuming this video is filmed in the UK my question is are those problems for the ones in the US?
Yes. The very same! Thanks for watching
All things considered, they are relatively minor issues if you are looking at a 'Supercar'. Even less if you live in a drier climate than Scotland.
I love Scotland trying to get my Mrs to move there, she says it rains to much. Nonsense!😊
Aren't the V8 and V10s in the R8 direct injection i.e. suffer from the valves coking up over time?
It's a great point, any direct injection engine will suffer with it to some extent. These V10's (and late produced V8's) were a good deal better than the early V8's as they changed the EGR calibration. Early V8's really coated the back of the valves in oil vapor which the soot stuck to like glue. Still a consideration? Yes... but not as bad.
What is the more significant advantage besides the BHP of a V10 over a V8?
Heritage maybe? The v10 is closely related to the LP 560 Lamborghini engine. Also less prone to engine coking as mentioned in the video.
@@ScottishCarClan I fully understand when you talk heritage. I will say this, though: it's GREAT to see someone purchase the manual over the auto and use the damn paddle shifter thinking that they have a manual shifting car. Myself IF I had the money, I think I might go with the V8, but don't quote me on that. 🙂
Prefer r tronic as steering wheel controls for me.and the manual is more like a tractor set up.and that noise 😮when changing gear.r tronic if Tc m update done is fine.just my opinion.
I thought these V10s were robust . Why so many oil leak issues with them ?
Mainly age. 10-15 years on protective coatings are starting to come undone exposing ferrous metal components.
