Lagw thats just the animation of some other Pokemon (mostly bulbasaur). The dex entry is for the scrapped pokemon. (If you dug around the files in gen3 games, yould find 25 such ??????? Pokemon in there. These are probably the evolutions and pre evolutions to pre existing pokemon that were released in gen4, like Munchlax, Honchkrow, Togekiss, Bonsly, Mamoswine, and such, but were scrapped for some unknown reason. My belief is that each gym leader and elite 4 were to have one new evolution each (Probopass for Roxanne, Lucario for Brawly, Magnezone for Wattson, etc) during rematch, but probably due to not being able to create them all, or evo methods or maybe not enough space, they were scrapped. So, the game just clubs Missingno with those and pops up that page.

They kind of had to. They knew some guy would try doung something like this with missingno and if they hadnt coded something like this into the game, the player could have their whole file corrupted or erased
@@G-B-F123 not really, missing no has zero data in every generation, missing no is a result of having a battle without a Pokémon triggering it, as a result the game attempts to pull information from anywhere it can to form information for the Pokémon you’re battling (generation one being the letters in your name) missing no is the game is attempt to artificially create a Pokémon with no immediate Pokémon information, hence why technically every game can do it (because the glitch isn’t that information it’s a lack of information)
Might be a development artifact, from when the encounter tables weren't complete.
@@empireyouth5791 thing is, out of bounds data would be read - and with how much more data there IS in later games, it's better to make a placeholder than to risk something pointing to garbage data that ends up, say, corrupting your save file completely, or worse; damage the system (since the system software side of things is actually properly there in the first place now)

I discovered the missingno at HGSS when I played a little with the cheats that came at Drastic and felt like a discoverer of something no one knew. I even showed it to my friends when I went to school the next day.

The one in Emerald would actually be a cool concept. It could be a ghost Pokémon that has no form but when it interacts with another Pokémon it becomes it but instead of ditto with just transforming, the other Pokémon becomes it (of course when it faints it’ll give the Pokémon back). It could have its own moves too instead of taking the other’s moves. It’s like ditto, but with extra steps

70 is the level at which you encounter a lot of legendaries, but level 80 is the level you'd encounter missingno (technically 'M) at because of how the game terminates name data. Other than that, an actual missingno (not 'M) is encounterable at any level.

I remember when I was a kid, I was messing around with an action replay on diamond and pearl. I believe there’s a part in the game where you have to go through a cave with a lady thy makes every battle a double battle. I was doing the walk through walls glitch where I was walking on top of water and I encountered a misingno double battle

I corrupted the hell out of my copy of Diamond using tweaking and managed to get myself stuck in a permanent state of being in partner double battles where my partner was invisible and sent out a "shiny" missingno before crashing the game. Really sucked too as I had around 400 hours in that save and couldn't find a way to fix it. The only areas I found that worked properly was the Trophy Garden and Safari Zone

That gen 2 egg thing is pretty interesting. When the game starts up, it tries to detect what console it's on by checking a certain register value. But the "crash" caused the game to reset without clearing any registers, so the game ends up thinking it's on a normal Gameboy instead of a GBC so it doesn't reset the pallette.
When you leave town without a starter and max stats enabled you can get a level 1 deckamark

The blue and red is called a glitch dimension. This happens because of the sudden reset the game thinks its being played on a game boy not a game boy color.

I don't think so. The colors are all the same in this, and in a Glitch Dimension it looks like there are patches of color that change randomly. I think that the glitch Pokemon just overwrote the game's palette data. I could be wrong, though.

Counter deflects the damage you lose by double. example, wobbafett takes 100 hp damage, then uses counter. The opponent takes 200 hp damage. It doesn't reflect the damage done, it reflects the hp the user lost
that's still the damage done
So Imagine using Counter on a Pokémon with Sturdy so anything that would one hit gets doubled back.

2:38 Fun fact: When the game crashed, it automatically thinks it's being played on an original GameBoy (even though it was made for the GameBoy Color) so it defaults to red and blue in order to make the contrast easier to see on the Gameboy. This would look totally normal on an actual GameBoy, and this is why it looks weird on the Color (something about the registries not being checked or cleared properly due to it crashing so it ends up matching up with an original GameBoy.) (jfb-1337 said something about it down somewhere in the comments, cause I can't find any mention of it online but I swear there's a video explaining it somewhere)
With the unusual colours. (This may have been said before) If you invert the colours on your screen, then go to greyscale, it looks like a normal, black and white pokemon game. It may have been a glitch or cut feature

In gen 2 if you have misiggno as your main pokemon and you sent it to battle it will use your trainer's sprite. My leaf green version went haywire and an egg hatched into missingno, it can be move freely from the party to the box and even sent into battle, but it's lv0 and only has Cut and Hidden power, it also has an astronomical negative experience required to lv-up.
8:01 I can see the sprite hiding up top, only like two pixels in height that we can see, from what I can see it is the same sprite as the glitched Pokémon that lucario and mime jr turn into when evolved in the diamond and pearl demo.
You forgot to use rare candies and level them, in gen 1 that does some very interesting things.

If i am not mistaken you can level a poken to level either 250 or 255 ... for some reason I can not remember, specifically any of the pokemon that you catch on the beach that are over level 100. However if you go over that level limit with rare candies, or if you fight a battle and it levels them, they will go to level 1. I need to say if i am not mistaken, because i have not done that for like 15-20 years, so my memory is a little hazzy on this.

My brother ran into that pokemon on Blue version, but it didn't call it Missingno. The game literally called it Virus. And he didn't catch it near Cinnibar, it was right next to the island with the caves where you catch Articuno. We were all really little back then so he thought it would be cool to catch it. It didn't have a pokedex entry or any moves at all and when he looked at it in his party, it looked like a human sprite was among his pokemon. But, it didn't really damage his game at all. When he traded it to my sister's Yellow Version, it completely corrupted her data and forced her to restart. I was really weird. I've been wanting to look at it again to see if it was still there and just as easy to catch, but he lost his Blue Version a long time ago and I've been wanting to replace it to see if he just got an unlucky copy or if that was a glitch in that specific version because I have never seen that thing in my Red or my sister's Yellow in the wild
after the EGG's data gets "added to the pokedex", the world becomes kinda inverted in colors, but it messed around with the hue before the colors
In Pearl / Diamond you can find a more traditional Missingno. by getting to the area beneath the bridge where you're supposed to have a partner with you and everything is double battles without getting your partner - walk through walls. Normally here you run into 2 wild pokemon at a time but without your partner the second is almost always Missingno. And it messes with the game hard if I recall. I liked the video but I was curious as to why you tested everything except levelling them up. In Red/Blue 'M' and Missingno. would evolve into Ditto or something like that (might have been Chansey - can't remember off hand.) . I'd be curious to see what happens to the games when it tries to process what to do when they level up and/or evolve if it's triggered.

There isn't "one" missingno in Gen1/2 and in fact many others; MissingNo. is influenced by random values that are treated as a Pokémon. There is a guy who made a VERY elaborate video about this topic. You should've experimented with other Pokedex IDs, not just 0 ;) 9:12 The reason in Gen4 you ended up with a Deoxys form is because this is how the forms are stored; as separate hidden Pokemon.
