  • To think that now Baez has the same number of titles than Diego Schwartzman (4) proves that he´s having an excellent carrer for someone who´s 5 ft 7. And he´s only 22!

  • I’m the same height as Baez (5’7) and was told to quit tennis in my teens when I failed to grow taller. Doing it for us shorter men, an absolutely stunning performance! Goes to show, with hard work and rock solid technique height is a relative disadvantage that can be overcome, this beautiful sport ain’t just for the tall guys!

    • Height helps in this sport a lot as well, just not as much as sports like baskettball. It's literally impossible for you to get in the NBA without being close to 6 ft. In tennis, yeah these days the baseline game is played most of the time, so if you are really quick to get to every ball, your serve isn't as much of a liability. However, you can see players like Opelka and see that if you have a crazy height and crazy serve, your baseline game can be mediocre and still be in the top 100.

  • What a hard working player Baez is. He just grinds away, These wins will build his confidence going into the US Open. He has good power for his height and a decent serve. I do wish he had a bit more variety, like lobs and drop shots. He tends to rip balls directly to his net position opponent when he could lob or hit around them. I have been a Baez fan for awhile now and as a 5'-7" tall guy myself, he is an inspiration.

  • Been watching/playing tennis for over 40 years. I'm sick to death of players flopping on their back and just sitting there after winning a match. Yes, I know it's not new, but it seems to be ever on the rise. It's really disrespectful to the opponent. The winner is basically saying to his opponent, "You can just stand there waiting at the net for me while I bask in my victory, or you can come over to my side of the court and congratulate me." You will have _plenty_ of time to bask in your victory. Respect your opponent -- and respect that they feel like crap -- by doing a quick handshake and letting them go. Then if you wanna flop on the court and lie there, feel free to do it for as long as you want.
