Most Beautiful Place in Lithuania?!

Nida Lithuania is one of the most beautiful places I've been to in Lithuania. Of course, there are still SO many places to explore in this country, so I can't say for sure yet, but it's without a doubt been my favorite place I've visited in Lithuania so far.

  • I've been to Nida once, few years ago. It was summertime, and I saw a young woman riding a bicycle along the shore, with her dog running beside the bicycle. I felt this moment was a picture of such harmony and happiness, that I even felt envy to this woman (in a good way, of course). Amazing place Lithuania, I wish I can go back there some time in the future💚

I have a lot of interest in Lithuania, and plan to go on a summer trip after next year (I have a lot of work to do until next year). NIDA is considered a good idea to spend the summer. • I originally followed you because of my love of Mexico, and I've watched most of your vlogs set there. I'm glad the NIDA video came up on my home page as tbh I haven't followed you since you moved to Lithuania. It's not the kind of place I'd normally be interested in ( I'm more a tropical beach kind of person..) However, my father was born in the German province of Ostpreußen, almost 100 years ago. That part of Germany was invaded and occupied by the Soviet Union in 1945 and is now part of Russia- just a few kilometers to the west of where you were! I watched the video with interest as it kind of gives me an idea of what my father's homeland must have looked like🙂It really looks beautiful... I'd hate to be there in the winter though...he told me stories of months and months of snow( I ABSOLUTELY HATE SNOW😉). Your video has inspired me to check out this part of the world next summer. Luckily there are frequent flights from the UK where I'm based! Thank you Laura for introducing my ancestors' homeland to me! 👍Keep up the good work 🙂

  • Some recommendations for next time. When you're on Parnidis dune, next to the sundial you can get down and walk through the sands, it's not forbidden or at least it wasn't not too long ago. Very memorable to really walk down there. In the lighthouse, you can actually go inside and the view is absolutely amazing although a little but scary if you're afraid of heights. The Dead Dunes might probably be the most impressive place in the whole spit so definitely visit there. In the summer I would recommend just renting a bike and cycling the whole length of the spit as it's really flat and beautiful. Just the cycling track is a little bit bad in some places but at least Smiltynė to Juodkrantė should be fine. There is also a Cormorant bird colony near Juodkrantė which is very interesting especially with binoculars. Also, if you take a boat definitely go to Mingė (yeah this sounds dirty to English speakers) a village where people live on two banks of the river with no bridge. And overall the boat trip to the Nemunas delta is really interesting and nice. Many others recommended Vecekrugo dune, I agree that's also a nice place.

    • @@laura-bronner Vecekrugo dune is really nice :) You can climb up there, but there is no real pathway to climb and there is just pines all around it, so most of the time you can 1. Miss the trail 2. get scratched :D But its really good spot for view. There you can see both sea and lagune at the same time. Been there few times, loved it.

Also I would recommend small city - Anykščiai, especially when leaves will change colour, and to go to Lajų takas. Also in autmn ot will be nice views in Vilnius as well, especially if you would go to TV tower :)

  • Nida is an amazing place. If we get a cold winter here this year there will be plenty of ice fishing in land as well. We live next to lake Avejas ( Lithuanias longest lake ) there are often fisherman ( me included ) drilling through the ice trying to catch Smelt. Smelt are normally only found in the sea but can also be found in the huge lakes in this part of the world. The fish you had was a Perch, you must try catfish and smoked bream. Lithuanians seem to be masters at smoking fish and meat. This time of year is stunning as the trees turn, we have some good weather forecast now so keep getting out and about and make the most of it before the grey cold days and nights arrive. Not sure how to make contact through YT but if you and your husband want to visit the lake I can show you around. Keep the vids rollin.

  • Hi, been following your videos since you came to Lithuania :) my recomendation for next time would be rent a car :D get to Kaunas and instead of driving on motorway "Kaunas - Klaipėda" drive along Nemunas up to "Jurbarkas". There are lots of castles along the way to see and the scenery is beautiful too. Then from "Jurbarkas" drive along the border with Russia to "Šilute", this road is full of old german towns :). When I drove this route it took me whole day but it was worth it. On a way back you could go "Plungė - Šiauliai - Panevėžys" maybe hop by Anykščiai as well. On this route most beautiful places would be "Šatrijos kalnas" (between Telšiai and Kuršėnai, a bit off the road but well worth it) and "Kryžiu kalnas (Hill of crosses)".

    @justtenchyy@justtenchyy2 жыл бұрын
    • Second that. I also recommend to include Rusnė town after Šilutė. Rusnė has a very simmilar architecture as Nida, also fields around the town are flooded in spring by Nemunas river. There are smaller towns nearby well worth a visit too. Uostadvaris is one. The whole place is sort of Netherlands of Lithuania.

      @laura-bronner@laura-bronner2 жыл бұрын
    • @@laura-bronner I'd say go once per every season :D. Since Lithuania have all four seasons it looks different each time. That said I'd have my reservations on going in November since it will probably be too soon for snow and too late for yellow leafs. I personally would recomend going around now or in winter when theres snow.... if theres snow... winters are wery iffy lately you can't know what to expect. Scenery will be beautifull any time ofcource just that to get most of it you might want to go on the pinicle of any season. Maybe someone who drives more ofthen on those roads could say more percisely is it worth it.

And yes, you should visit the spit in summer and in winter, it's a different kind of a feel. Also, if you're in Nida in the summertime, make sure to take a boat across the lagoon over to Mingė Village (don't pronounce it the English way! hahahaha), see all the wild birds (Nemunas delta is on the east Atlantic flyway!), maybe head over towards Rusnė too, there are some really interesting historical places and heritage restaurants, e.g. Villa Rusnė does all these exquisite dishes based on notes found in a noble family's mansion from the XVII century (or something like that) and you can head there for a meal or for an entire experience, with a guide telling you about the dishes... I did it last year, and honestly, was very impressed.

I took around 10km walk each day in different directions. Near lighthouse, if you took steep walkway down to south, in the left side you can see brick remains of old lighthouse, which was destroyed during ww2. And if you took same path more south, there is a spot with binoculars, where you can take a closer look to sun clock, and russian border watch tower near sealine :] Btw, fish would be even more tastier if it was straight out of smoke box. On July 4, 1991, during my birthday, the Russians rejected the message that I had declared war on the tanks stationed in Klaipeda, which Lithuania was starving. I became here as a seaside military commander, marshal and father of Ivanka Trump’s baptism. When assigned to intelligence, everything was kept secret. The border sounded mainly Michael Jacson in those days.

I have a male pro-democrat🔵/pro-democracy taiwan🇹🇼 paradise fish named (BLUETIGER) I'm breeding him with a female fighter plakat bettafish to make a new generation of paradise fighter fish. Now as for yall I would recommend you getting a pet republican🔴/gop southern and northern {studfish}

  • As I explained the northern and Southern studfish are purely republican🔴 and a rightwing pet fish it's aggressive and the perfect pet for you its a white conservative type fish . That being said we must now debate on which fish is more aggressive over territory my hybrid paradise fish or your purebred northern or southern studfish

    • Kinda agree: expensive ✔️ Nida like town is definitely overrated ✔️ And ,by the way , Soviet managed to kept Nature of Curonian Spit in pristine state and impose a very limited public access. Nowadays the spit is loosing its distinct pristine state : too crowded, too accessible, too commercialized. The dunes are dying ….🥲 Everything - beaches, forest, shoreline of bay and sea have not healing footprints of visitors.
