Reviewing EVERY Mario Circuit in Mario Kart | Level By Level
The Mario kart series has a few track themes that repeat multiple times over the course of the series. Two of the most popular are rainbow road and bowser's castle, but the track type with the most variations in the series would have to be Mario circuit. There have been 24 different renditions of this track across super Mario kart, Mario kart 64, Mario kart super circuit, Mario kart double dash, Mario kart ds, Mario kart Wii, Mario kart 7, and Mario kart 8 deluxe. So in this episode of level by level I’ll be reviewing every Mario circuit in the series and putting them into a tier list!

Mario Circuit in 8 Deluxe is literally just Figure 8 Circuit's older and way cooler brother. Great video!!
Don't you mean younger...
Younger but yeah, it's literally just Figure 8 Circuit but good
I pretty much agree with your rankings overall, but I'm especially happy to see Wii U Mario Circuit get such a glowing ranking! I grew up with DS and Wii when I was in elementary school, but MK8 is the game that has been in my life since graduating middle school. As such, I'd say its Mario Circuit is definitely most nostalgic for me (what with it being in a lot of the original game's marketing and it being a stage in Smash for Wii U). It's not like an "objective S-tier" in the grand scheme of Mario Kart courses (especially when taking 8DX's already stacked course content into account), but I just think it's an incredibly fun track. I love holidng super long drifts (especially in 8DX), I think the Möbius strip layout is clever, the Piranha Plants can be legitimate obstacles if not careful, and the music is great. I agree that it's the best Mario Circuit and I think it should really be talked about and respected more!
Tour RMX Mario Circuit 1 is basically a SNES Mario Circuit 5, it takes what the other SMCs did and combines them into a decent track. It even adds elevated areas to drive on and trick off of. Definitely a solid track.
DS Mario Circuit is not only my favorite Mario Circuit, it's also my favorite track in the entire series!
Wait really? Why?
That's a take
@@Fabian_TheProYT Yep, without a doubt
@@autismandgaming4532 No I'm fr not joking, DS Mario Circuit is my favorite track in the entire series

I missed this series so much
17:33 that jumping block is in the original too
Now that you mention it, ranking all 284 (or so) tracks from across the Mario Kart series (Tour excluded *explosion*) could definitely be a nice subscriber special video, even if it would be obvious which track would reign supreme

I was drinking a dr pepper and then 12:50-12:55 came along this might be the funniest clip odyssey has made and the dr pepper almost did not stay in my mouth
unfortunately, he didn't mention Mario in this video
Fun fact: the original Japanese version of Mario Kart 64 called the raceway tracks circuits and was changed in the localization
Clearing the last shortcut shroomless on GBA Mario Circuit is so satisfying. With the glider you can actually land on top of the wall and ride on top of it too!
Amazing video as always
Everyone looks at the circuits , bowsers castles and Rainbow roads as the tracks that always are in the game but the snow tracks are usually underlooked and they always have been there too and i think they could be a cool idea for a review video (Also nerd moment but mario circuit's 2 bumper is also in snes and gba)
3DS Mario Circuit is my favorite Mario Circuit. I like the aesthetic with the cherry blossoms, driving in Peach's Castle, the shortcuts, and the music is pretty good too.
My three favourite Mario circuits are probably GCN Mario Circuit, SNES Mario Circuit 4 and Wii Mario Circuit. The GCN one feels authentically Mario and is quite enjoyable, the SNES one is a fair challenge (that has somehow never been remade), and the Wii one is both nostalgic and also true to the feeling of Mario (and I like MKWii's aesthetic).
N64 Mario Racesay is probably my favorite, always chaotic, good lines are needed, but items can let you comeback, it’s not over until you cross the line but usually if you race well enough you do fine
12:43 I think the dry bones kart is a little bit sus with that picture on the front
Tbh, the meme sprinklings're _juuuuust_ enough to not be annoying, which I find is smth other YTers find harrd to do.
I love how every Mario Kart video is leading up to when he’ll eventually Ranks the cups by what item is on them
Can you even do the same thing but for the spooky, ghost courses? SNES Ghost Valley 1, 2, 3: SNES, GBA, Wii N64 Banshee Boardwalk: N64, DS GBA Boo Lake+Broken Pier: GBA, 8DX BCP W3(BL) GCN: ??? DS: ??? Etc
hate to sound generic but it's a good day when Odyssey Central uploads a mario kart video!
About that part about the weird bump in mario circut 2 mk7, that's been there since SUPER mario kart, and (as the only fan of that game I can officially say) that it was always there to begin with. It's the normal jump block from that game, not to be confused with the brown one, and in mario kart 7 it's got the craziest tas out of the mario kart 7 tracks.
Fun fact: in all of odyssey central videos i've seen this take the second place of the fastest cool bowser joke ever The first place is the ranking of every mario kart item
cant wait for "ranking every pixel in super mario bros"
Great ranking!! Wish we could've gotten MC4 on BCP instead of 3...
19:30 my fav part breaking sign that may cost over 1000 dollars lol
I love seeing appreciation for 8’s Mario Circuit. I generally hate on tracks that are shaped like figure-8s because they’re so overused (GCN Luigi Circuit, DS F8C, Wii Mario Circuit, Toad Circuit) but the use of antigravity making you do it twice in one lap is just so fun, and this is the track where I really feel the impact of antigravity the most. Also it’s the MORBIUS STRIP GUYS
Mario Circuit 2 from the Super Nintendo is my all time favorite Mario Circuit, as well as my all time favorite Super Nintendo track! I wish they brought that track back in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe!
Can't wait for the version in Mario kart 9 to be filled with small Mario and electisity. Because it's a MARIO SHORT CIRCUIT. HAW. HAW. HAW.
Something you forgot to mention for 8’s Mario Circuit is that if you are in any kind of boost (even a mini turbo) in MK8DX, Piranha Plants actually can’t bite you. So it’s an interesting piece of tech to take the turns tighter if you release your mini turbo right before you get to the plant.
For me, mk8's is the best Mario circuit. Not only does it take full advantage of the game's main gimmick, but it also gives the track a new arrangement while keeping the melody of mk stadium (every game before would have 2 or 3 circuit themed tracks with the game music
17:33 The jump pad is there because it's in the original course as well.
I would love to see a ranking of each character's selected tracks against each other. For example Mario in F tier because he only has circuits and raceways and maybe Bowser in A tier because of how sick Bowser's castles are
"The Mario Circuit Track from Mario Kart Double Dash is An Underrated Masterpiece." 8:46
hey the jumping pad pad inside of SNES mario circuit 2 from 7 was in the original, it was just harder to use.
Por favor, não pare de fazer vídeos, amo demais as edições que você faz, além disso você muito divertido, gosto demais dos seus videos!!
@Odyssey_Central once the 2d levels ranking is done, could a video (or videos) about future Mario kart remake tracks and what could be done to improve them? (I ask because o rewatched the rainbow road one and wasn’t sure what I could personally come up with to improve 8’s rainbow road)
17:31 That isn't weird. On the original track in Super Mario Kart that jump is actually there. Maybe you didn't grow up playing the original Super Mario Kart like I did but I have actually used a mushroom to go over that ramp at the end which makes it go really high when you do that and if you go left enough you will go over that wall and there's actually a jump at the end of it which will bounce you out. It's there intentionally
I KNEW THAT YOU WERE GONNA DO THIS 0:06
I can't wait for the Bowser's Castle ranking.
Huh, just earlier I was literally thinking about what the best Mario Circuit is. Now I don't even need to decide for myself!
"Short video Ideas"
That was during the making of this video
17:31 i don't know if someone else has commented this, but that block is there in the original as well.
My favorite is GBA Mario Circuit in Mario Kart 8. I would cover the Arcade Games so, Mario Highway and Mario Beach in B Tier, and the MKAGP Deluxe tracks in A-Tier.

Hi Odyssey! I have a couple ranking ideas for you! Could you rank either every boss in Tears of the Kingdom or every fusable material in Tears of the Kingdom? I realize the second idea may be kinda crazy, but the boss ranking would be super cool!
Awesome, now rank every Luigi Circuit
19:09 i heard this as "into a wrong warp 1-2"
Fun fact: the reason the GBA Mario Circuit theme has a completely different melody in the MK8 version is because it's for some reason actually based on an old beta version of the song seen in a Mario Kart Advance promotion demo
I cn already see the 300K Special where he ranks All tracks, remakes etc from every game. Including arcade and Tour versions
In the Japanese version of MK64, all circuits were renamed to raceway. Mario Raceway was originally Mario Circuit Luigi Raceway was originally Luigi Circuit And Royal Raceway was originally Peach Circuit
Adding to the how baffling SNES MC3 is, comes when conpared to the OTHER SNES Booster course, Bowser castle 3, its night and day.
I like the Among Us art on your kart in DS, good job 👌😌
Can you do a rank about all the haunted courses?
Anyone else think the SNES Mario Circuits' song sound weird? It might be the main instrument used for me, but it's a rather odd song
21:40 Erm, actually, Mario Circuit 4 wasn't in tour, so it couldn't have come back either way.

Mario Circuit 1 is an underrated masterpiece. Despite technical limitations, it is able to stand out as one of the most important tracks in the Mario Kart series. It effectively introduces Mario Kart as a game (and later the retro tracks in DS), provides a unique aesthetic, and is a highly technical and skill based track. First, Mario Circuit 1 introduces the Mario Kart series perfectly. The track begins with a simple turn at the beginning, which immediately tests the player’s ability. There is then a long straightaway that tests the player’s ability to stay oriented after the turn. The player then encounters a classic Mario obstacle: 4 pipes blocking the track. There are multiple reasons why this is interesting, one being that it is a significant difficulty spike for a casual player. The pipes are placed just before a sharp 130 degree turn, which is an interesting increase in difficulty from the shallower unimpeded turn at the start. In addition, this is also interesting because of a technical limitation in the game. Each Super Mario Kart course is split into four sections. The player can only view objects (such as pipes) that are inside the same section as them. What makes this interesting though, is that each section can only have four objects in it. This means that when designers of Super Mario Kart created Mario Circuit 1, they used the maximum number of pipes for that section, meaning that unlike many other first tracks in Mario Kart games, a deliberate attempt was made to make the track difficult. After this turn, we encounter the famed item boxes for the first time. This placement is extremely well designed, because a large portion of offroad lies after the next turn, encouraging the player to use their items to create their own shortcuts. Mario Circuit 1 is complete after a sharp (almost 180 degree) turn, which is very satisfying to take in both SMK and MKDS. As you can see, although Mario Circuit 1 may seem simple to some (especially veteran players and fans of the later Mario Kart games featuring more mechanics), it was very deliberately designed and provides a great starter course. Many people also forget that Super Mario Kart was a first in many ways when it came out, and Mario Circuit’s aesthetic reflects that. For example, the music in the Mario Circuit tracks is very different from other racing games at the time. Many games back then had fast upbeat songs to complement the blazing fast gameplay. But Mario Kart… is a kart racer, with slower speeds and unique mechanics, and the music really shows this well. Mario Circuit is much more mellow than other racing game songs back then, and that’s what makes it so memorable, even today. More people should appreciate that one of the most iconic Mario Kart songs originates from here. Finally, Mario Circuit is a technical track for high level players. Mario Circuit 1 has the crucial role in Mario Kart DS of introducing retro tracks to the Mario Kart series. That’s not necessarily relevant here, but what is important is the unintended role Mario Circuit 1 has in MKDS. MKDS has an advanced technique called PRB (Prolonged Rocket Boost) which allows speedrunners to drive on offroad surfaces without slowing down. It should be noted that Mario Circuit 1 has both a relatively simple track layout, and lots of offroad, even sporting a large shortcut near the end. This makes it a prime candidate to practice PRB on. So Mario Circuit 1 not only effectively teaches beginners how to play the game, but it also teaches intermediate players advanced tech in Mario Kart DS. Even if you’re not looking to set a world record, Mario Circuit 1 is a great place to spend time in time trials. The sharp turns are satisfying to drift around, the pipes and the large offroad patch provide obstacles to enhance precision and provide depth, and you can listen to a great song while doing it! The track is also short, which makes time trials more fast-paced and easier to grind attempts in. Because of the advanced tech and fun time trial prospects, Mario Circuit 1 is a standout track. Many people dismiss Mario Circuit 1 as a simple track for casual players, but it’s a lot more than that. It may look simple on the surface, but even Mario Circuit 1 has interesting mechanics and details that make it not just a necessary first track, but a fun and interesting standout track.

Imma get controversial, DS Mario Circuit absolutely clears DS Airship Fortress. Half the latter's layout is just a being as spiral, and the other half is straight track. The only good thing about the course is it's theme, but DS Mario Circuit has always been way more fun to actually drive on
I know u were looking for some shorter video suggestions so how about talking about what trial chambers do so well. I dont actually know if that would too long or not tho but u can talk about the unique loot, the new mechanics, the difficulty, the layout etc.
