This trailer could have been 5 seconds long and just a block of text that says, "Viggo Mortensen in a revenge-western" and I'll see it.
Thankfully the trailer shows a predictable story that is a turn off.

I didnt see him going after anyone. I heard her say "I dont need rescued" and the headline "Deconstructs the Western" tho.

Eastern promises was corny af but he's had some decent roles. I wouldn't say great though.
Saw the TIFF premiere and was incredibly impressed. It blows my mind that Viggo wrote it, directed it, starred in it (against his initial wishes), and composed the music for it. Really happy to see that it found a distributor.

See Young Guns II...granted he was a lawman (Poe)...but it's one of the best Westerns and he looks great in a cowboy hat 🤠

Considering he only lived in Denmark for a few years during his youth, the way he is able to do a believable Danish Accent is incredible. I mean one thing is that he can speak danish, but i think its entirely anotherthing to speak in his native english but make it sound distinctly like native dane speaking it. Very impressive

You should check out Appaloosa starring him and Ed Harris.
Check out Bone Tomahawk. Not for the weak of heart, but it is one of the best westerns ever made.
There are 10 movies I can think of off the top of my head that capture the essence of the western.

If Viggo is in it and directing, it is worth watching. Lots of substance and meaning in all his movies. No CG, no tricks. Just great acting and emotion.

With so many movies going to streaming services, it's a welcomed sight to see "Only In Theaters" in these trailers.
On the other hand there is Russia for example. They always dub movies here, and i hate dubs. But it doesn't matter cause it won't probably even roll in cinemas here so i would probably resort to pirating as always

I’m a simple man, I see Viggo and I like and watch.

What his right name is I've never heard, but around here, he's known as Strider." After all this time it's so good to see Viggo making this directorial effort and further founding his legendary career which is too often overlooked and forgotten.
God knows we need some well-written, old-fashioned Westerns to demonstrate right and wrong once again. Kudos to Mr. Mortensen! I'll be waiting for this movie in theaters!
Lol the westerns tell us right and wrong? Maybe the ones from back in the day that heavily romanticised the era By the looks of this trailer its actualy giving us a real hard look at the what living old west was like unlike the westerns of the past. Nothing but lawlessness and savagery all around is what the old west is with every one killing lying and stealing just to survive. Im happy modern depictions of the old west like 1883 for example are showing the truth instead of indulging us in overly romanticized lies to make us feel good and feed us fake history.

I was initially unconvinced but as the trailer wove onwards, it pulled me in. Intriguing 😊

You've missed out on some quality films since Unforgiven, then. Tombstone, Open Range, Appaloosa, Seraphim Falls, The Salvation, True Grit, The Assassination of Jesse James, 3:10 to Yuma, Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada (neo, but still), Dead Man, The Homesman, Bone Tomahawk, Django Unchained, Hateful Eight, Hell or High Water (another neo) and that's just off the top of my head. On TV there's been Deadwood, 1883, Hell on Wheels, Godless... Oh, and play Red Dead Redemption.

Viggo the most legendary, hard to get a banger out of because he's rich and content, Mortensen. Man this is going to be a good one.
Can I say how well he has aged? Because he's still as charming in his 60's as when he was in his 40's.
People always talk about DDL and Christian Bale transforming for their characters, but people don't talk about Viggo's character transformations enough. He gives it everything he's got every single time
