2012, Barcelona 7 Vs Leverkusen 1 Champions League game at Camp Nou. I was there with my girlfriend, it was her first in a Football stadium. Messi scored 5 goals, his personal record of goals in a game. Today, that girl is my wife and we still are blown away by Leo. Im from Argentina and my wife from Slovakia and I just wanted to share this story :)

What I like is he comes across as not arrogant at all. Always looks happy and carefree when playing football. Doesn’t take it too serious
His athletic skills with soccer tower above everyone else but his joy in playing the game is contagious and what makes him even more memorable. It's almost as if he can't quite believe his own magic. Every time he does something spell bounding, he leaves himself spellbound like a fan witnessing it.
There’s probably no greater refinement beyond the skills and abilities he currently possesses. His touch is next to untouchable!

I'm 65 now and I was able to see some of the greats play this wonderful game, over the years. Pele is still my favourite player of all time, but this man....WOW!!! what can I say. The greatest player of this generation, for sure.

@@acpliego I saw him play in 1966 when the World Cup was in England. I was disgusted to see him kicked all over the pitch by teams he played in that tournament. However, in 1970, this is when we saw the magnificent Pele play at his finest. He was absolutely brilliant in that tournament. The only thing that I thought was even better in 1970, was the save that Gordon Banks made against Pele's header. That was one of the best saves of all time. Even Pele came out and said it was the greatest save he had ever saw. GOD!!!! I loved this man. There have been some greats over the years. That Brazilian team was one of the best of all time. I have to also include, of course, Maradona, Cruyff and Zidane, just to name a few. This generation it's Messi and Christiano Ronaldo.

Both displayed an unrivalled connection to, and affection for, the football when they have been playing in their era. I can't think of a footballer that's better. Everytime that one comes to mind, I think, well what about Messi? As an individual player, I don't think there's ever been anyone better. And that I find is for me, as someone that enjoys looking back at the greats and how good they were, even to overcome the differences between the past and the modern game, to find a modern player so good. I don't think we can or are able to really appreciate it yet.
