Student training aid for re-capping the learning covered by our Steel Conduit socket circuit. Includes the need for an RCD and correct size of overcurrent devices.
Note that in special cases like sockets for servers or medical equipment a risk assessment can be carried out and RCD protection may not be required.
Videos are training aids for City and Guilds (C and G) and EAL courses Level 1, 2, 3 plus AM2, AM2S and AM2E.

  • Thanks for posting these great revision resources. Quick question : With Discrimination / Selectivity requiring a downstream protection device to be rated at 150% of the nearest upstream device, are we not able to use fused switched spurs to provide local isolation for appliances such as washing machines; as both the F.S.Spur and the plug will have 13amp fuses?

  • Given: 1) It's permitted. 2) It's cheaper. 3) The annular cross section is ample. It'd be interesting if you discussed why you'd choose not to use the conduit itself as your CPC for a radial for sockets, lighting, or even a ring final in steel conduit. There must be some reasoning beyond "it feels somehow wrong not to" why the extra conductor is so often pulled through the system.

    • It could be argued that the installation gives maximum flexibility for any changes to be made, for example so an accessory can be changed from metal to plastic.

  • Maximum Current - Peak ........................................ 68 amperes Maximum Current - Continuous .............................. 32 amperes This is one power applier I have, altogether I have two that get very hot. Is the current uk 2.5mm twin and earth suitable for the 240v appliances? Or do I require larger cable?

  • I luv her vids.>>Am sure they are great help to kids thank you. I have one small criticism. When u twist 1.5 and 2.5 multistrand singles you invariably twist to the left...Probably because u are left handed at birth. Have u not considered the Basketing effect (increased resistance} that could be induced into a short length of cores mentioned. A6 inch length of 2.5 mm will have it's core twisting clockwise at one end, as and anticlock wise at other end.>>>Twistng every connection in one direction as i n your tutoriAl may/or will result in a small increase in conductivity //higher resistance. This is an annecdotal problem .when several electricians or even one electrician I doing final sub circuit connections.>U may find an unexplainable.Failure in continuity readings. Tell me her thoughs davy. 47 years a spark. Retired d
