11 Baby Bunnies!!! Cleaning up after the birth.

2015 ж. 9 Там.
2 020 907 Рет қаралды

11 baby bunnies!!! Wow, I wasn't expecting that!
Down to the very important job of cleaning up after the birth. This will keep the babies healthy and help to keep predators away too.
Be very careful not to move the babies too much.

Also GREAT Idea to put a board in front of nest box, so many times doe has "missed" the nest box and had a baby just out of box. Simple love it!

But I have found blood and placenta and under formed babies and a dead baby with some of my moms. If I would have waited 7-10 days all the babies be dead from the stuff rotting.

  • hi, i just started breeding rabbits and my doe had a litter of 7 last thursday. however, 3 of them died at 4 days old, but they were all in the nest. of the remaining 4, one had runny stool all over his back legs. did i introduce an infection by mistake? do you take any special precautions?

    @ngufanikojo6430@ngufanikojo64307 жыл бұрын

  • I'da used a shallow sided soda box, thermal blanket in it, babies on the thermal blanket, not bothered with covering with the fur, just quick enough to change the box, babies back in the box, re-cover with the fur and done. The babies were already hopping and could have just as easily gone to the hard ground and been seriously injured or killed by a preventable accident. I raise Flemish Giants strictly as pets, no eating of rabbits in my house. I'm ok with other people raising meat rabbits for consumption though. My rabbits have a massive 18 square ft. of living space each to themselves and are spoiled rotten with fresh water, pellets, fresh grass and leafy greens.

    • @@FoodForThought. Im so sorry for the rude and negative comments. I also raise rabbits for meat. We have a botanical garden with petting zoo. Our animals are not caged they have cute adobe houses in safe grass paddocks. They are friendly and part of the family. But we eat the babies when they are a good size. They are loved , cared for, and sacrificed with thanksgiving and respect. Vegans will never understand this, and that is their choice. We also raise Guinea pigs for meat which is traditional in Peru. Thank you for your thoughtful video. We also have chickens and Alpaca which they eat here also, although we havent tried that yet. we need more space for goats for milk , cheese and meat.

Is that it? Because if someone from India saw you eating a cow they’d be horrified, cows are sacred. You need to stop bitchin about eating an animal just because it’s cute when you probably scarf down plenty of other animal meat in a day yourself. • bunny moms only feed there babies once , maybe twice a day for a few minutes.. after which they like to go a distance away from the babies so as to protect them from predators...because the babies won't have a scent for several months, so if the mother leaves the babies alone they are safer than if she stays close to them as then the predator will smell her and find both her and the babies.

  • nice video. i wanted to go into rabbit breeding as well for meat and wanted to ask why dont you breed the flemish giant or chinchilla cause they are bigger

    @lloydncube4828@lloydncube48284 жыл бұрын
    • I have 2 flemish /Californian. Females im breeding for meat but its not goot to do all flemish because they have a lower meat to bone ratio my buck is a full blood flemish so ill get bigger meat rabbits im hoping their not all bone since the doe's are just slightly bigger then the californians regular size...

    • I moved to 4'x2' cages, but kept the wire floor. With large breeds wire floors are fine as the 1/2" holes allow pee and poop to drop through but do not affect the feet. The only problem I ever had with sore hocks was on a solid floor that the urine could not escape, but thank you for your opinion.

    @saujankarki4921@saujankarki49215 жыл бұрын
    • saujan karki I have never had a problem with cleaning out the nest. You'll only ever catch the doe in the nest twice a day to feed. Apart from that she'll ignore it.

      @FoodForThought.@FoodForThought.5 жыл бұрын
    • no, she's not ignoring it...she leaves the babies after feeding to protect them as they have no scent and cannot be found by predators whereas she does have a scent and the predator will find both her and the babies if she stays near them!!! Rabbit mothers are good mothers...they aren't ignoring their babies.........

  • As a bunny mom who keeps a rabbit as a pet this angers me so, so much that once you popped up in my recommendations I had to comment. I don't understand why in the world would you eat rabbits that barely have meat on them, just because we are on the top of the food chain doesn't mean we can devour any animal we can. We are capable of eating cats and dogs too, why don't we? Because it's unethical to eat our own pets. Rabbits are the 3rd most commonly adopted animals as pets, why is it ethical for you to eat them? Are cows, chickens, and fish not enough?
