How To Invest As A BEGINNER To $1M Using The "111 Method"

2024 ж. 5 Мам.
23 148 Рет қаралды

In this video, I do a step-by-step tutorial on how to invest as a complete BEGINNER.
I talk about how to use the 111 Method to potentially grow your account to $1M by the time you retire.
Essentially you will be buying 1 share of an S&P 500 ETF, every 1 month, to get to $1M.
Remember, when you do this in your Roth IRA, all your earnings and dividends will be tax and penalty free at 59.5!
Make sure to watch this video to the end so you understand how all of this works and make sure to check everything off on the Money Cheat Sheet.
Let me know if you have questions!
I hope this video helps :)

  • The current market/economy is unnecessarily tougher for boomers/senior citizens, I’m used to just buying and holding assets which doesn’t seem applicable to the current rollercoaster market plus inflation is catching up with my portfolio. I’m really worried about survival after retirement.

    • Just buy Gold, the government has failed us or try to diversify your portfolio to other market sectors, that way your investment is balanced and you don’t get to make so much losses.

    • Investing in AI trading has been a game-changer for me! I was skeptical at first, but once I saw the results, I was amazed. The AI algorithm has consistently outperformed my own trading decisions, and I've seen a significant increase in my profits. But it's not just about the money - it's about the freedom and peace of mind that comes with knowing my investments are being managed by a cutting-edge technology. I used to spend hours analyzing charts and news, trying to make sense of the markets. But now, I can focus on what matters most to me, while the AI takes care of my trading. I've gained more time, reduced my stress levels, and achieved financial stability. I'm so grateful for this technology, and I can't recommend it enough! If you're hesitant, I understand, but trust me, it's worth exploring. AI trading has truly changed my life, and I'm confident it can do the same for you!"

    • It depends on your fund and account. In my normal brokerage acct I had to choose what form I wanted my uninvested cash to sit as, and chose a money market fund that gives 3-5% interest, but there were other free or low cost options available. For my Roth account I have it set to just invest a certain percentage in different funds, becaus I don't trust myself to be self directed with my retirement accounts. So all of my money transferred to my Roth, 401k, and HSA are automatically invested and I don't need to remember to log in every month or two to manually buy something. It just does it's thing, and I check on it a few times a year to make sure things are still working correctly.

    • Thanks Monica! It depends on your risk tolerance. Some people will invest the lump sum all at once because they don't mind the volatility of the markets in the long term. Some people may like to invest little by little (dollar cost average) because they want to average in the price as the markets fluctuate.

    @jeremynguyen216@jeremynguyen2164 күн бұрын
    • Hi Jeremy! You can keep it simple and start with 1-2 ETFs and slowly build your position from there. A lot of these ETFs have overlapping components (ex. MSFT, AAPL, AMZN, GOOGL) and you can see what companies or sectors you would like to have a larger allocation in based on your comfort level.

  • Can you talk about investing in dividend etf like schd?

    @Stan6053@Stan605311 күн бұрын
    • I personally like schd, but it depends on your goals. S&p is generally going to grow more and faster. But if you are retiring soon, then converting to dividends will help you earn more cash flow without needing to sell off underlying assets. Personally, all of my retirement accounts are in s&p, or cap style funds because they have low costs and grow fast, and I'm not anywhere near retirement yet. My brokerage acct though is all dividend based, because I might use it for cash flow if times get tough, so it is a sort of 3rd household income for us... Not a large one, but better than nothing. But because it is a normal brokerage, I do need to pay taxes on that income whether I reinvest it or use it, so come tax season I need to be mindful of that. Lota to consider though, and depends on your goals and plans.

    • I like S&P 500 ETFs because it's the standard index that the majority of investors invest in. Also, ETFs usually allow you to sell covered calls. You can't do this with mutual funds.

  • Generally good advice... But basic mental math says that this isn't going to give you $1M after 30 years. It will give you more than $1M. Because the underlying asset isn't a fixed amount, but you are buying 1 every month, then the amount you are investing is going to increase on average 10% per year... Which may be a lot to keep up with after 30 years lol. I mean, look how much people complain with more normal 2-5% inflation on things. 10% extra invested every year is going to get brutal over time. But this means you will be investing a lot more of your own money... But you will also hit that $1M balance probably closer to 20-25 years instead of 30. So it's not all bad.

    • You would probably hit cap before the end of the year in a Roth acct and run out of funds to invest... But if you have the money then you can do it in a non-Roth Ira, or a normal brokerage acct. But it's a free world man, if you have the cash to do it weekly, then there is absolutely a way to do it!

  • 2:14 hello Steve! Thank you for all the valuable information. If I’m investing in my companies 401k with match would you suggest I also open a Roth IRA? I’m over 50, so I’m interested in investing maximum amount but I don’t have 30 yrs. If I only have about 15 yrs does that mean should have 500,000?

    @LenaLenton@LenaLenton12 күн бұрын
    • If over 50 then you will want to do the math on that. A Roth Ira is after taxes are taken out, so it is actually quite expensive to invest in, and you need more time to recover the taxes paid up front when investing in the account. If your 401k is large enough to let you not touch your Roth acct until year 10 of retirement, then there is a good chance it is worth doing. But otherwise you are likely better off doubling down on the 401k and only doing the Roth if you hit the $22k 401k contribution limit and need to invest more to reach your goals. Plus you can always do a back door Roth conversion later if it makes sense to pre-pay your taxes before retirement, so you don't need to do the Roth right away.
