Rwanda refugee or Rishi Sunak: Who will be 'ejected' first? | LBC debate

2024 ж. 21 Сәу.
66 520 Рет қаралды

'No ifs, no buts, these flights are going': Defiant Rishi Sunak says first Rwanda migrant flights will leave by July 15.
The emergency legislation is due to be voted on by MPs in the Commons and peers in the House of Lords, possibly well into the evening.
The controversial bill will return to the Commons after several rounds of parliamentary ping-pong, which has seen the Lords express their opposition to the proposals through a series of amendments the prime minister does not accept.
Mr Sunak vowed last week that today would be the day the bill finally got through parliament, telling reporters there would be "no more prevarication, no more delay".

  • Ian Dale can’t do simple maths. 15% of 60,000 is 9,000 over 5 years which works out to an average of 1,800 Albanians a year, nowhere near the 30,000 to 40,000 he constructed off the top of his head. Yet another example of emotion over fact. Awful journalism.

  • I became disabled with ME/CFS and Fibromyalgia 6 years ago, prior to that I had worked full time for 37 years and done 30 years of unpaid voluntary work in the evenings and weekends as well. I’m now on £8000 a year benefits which are about to be cut by this Government because I should be able to work apparently! £8,000 a year is not a lifestyle choice!! It would take me over 214 years of benefits to send just 1 migrant to Rwanda!! And he wants to cut benefits for the most vulnerable people in the country! It’s sickening!!

    • I so sorry to hear of your issues. I too was diagnosed with the same as you in 2006 and was bedridden and housebound for many years. I was lucky enough to get the full care and mobility under Disability Living Allowance but when this was changed to PIP my benefit was dropped to the lowest care rate - no mobility - despite no change in my condition. The tories have been dire for anybody who suffers from a condition that is so disabling and I too had to give up my employment in teaching and mental health nursing. However, I just wanted to give you a message of hope. I 'celebrated' my 50th birthday in bed and struggled to stay awake long enough to open my birthday cards and have a piece of birthday cake - miserable time of my life. Quite by accident I was adopting a sort of ketogenic diet and I started to feel less fatigue and was able to spend more time out of bed with my family. I even had the odd trip to town where my husband and son would park me in a cafe to enjoy a coffee while they shopped but, of course, this huge activity would send me back to bed for a few days... However, in January 2023 I made the radical change to go completely carnivore because I had put on so much weight due to lack of ability to be able to exercise and to my surprise within weeks I completely reversed my fatigue, brain fog and over time all of my joint pains have completely gone. I no longer have migraines, I lost 4 stone without feeling hungry or having to exercise, whch you will know is virtually impossible with ME/CFS and I am once more able to be outside with our horses and dogs, do DIY and gardening. At 65 I am much, much healthier than I ever was in my late 40's and 50's which is crazy. I sometimes have a treat but if I drop off my diet too much I can feel my symptoms begin to return. I just wanted you to know that there is hope

Fraud, theft, drug distrubution makes a fortune. Life is also completely free in the UK, craddle to grave, including a home and family. If you were made personally responsible for housing, money, bills, crime, your mindset would be very different. Ask your working classes, MI5, and your police for a start. Most people and families in the UK cannot afford to virtue signal, and do not want the destruction of their own futures and that of their chidrens when WW2 heros gave their lives to give you a better life, and democracy. Borders as you have at your airports are there for a reason too.

However Dale prefers to rattle around for evidence than admit he is wrong One would think since Dale brought up Albania he would have done his research....Did not that follows not doung his job description therefore have to question why his salary is paid.

  • My asylum request here in Belgium was processed in 19 months (I know the wait could have been longer had I not contacted the migration office to check how my process was going, bureaucracy isn't perfect here either). And by the time I got the approval, I had already been working for 7 months. I don't understand why anyone would want to seek Asylum in the UK, a place where refugees are so horribly treated. Moreover, how dumb it is to spend so much money per asylum seeker!!! Processing the request quickly would save the UK sooo much money, as so many analysts have stated. Politicians!!!
