The town of Orania has long been a polarising feature of our society.

    • Nothing wrong with localism lot's of communities are like this.Aparthied is a Hebrew concept in Israel not other Hebrew communities in the world. It's when they persecute other races or religions to do their menial jobs & mistreat them it it becomes dangerous & problematic. As they said Europeans are turned away for not being Afrikaans. If you went to a Black community & they were all black no one would call them Racist. It is misperception that if you're not white you can't be racist which is for small minded naive people.Of course you can be Racist if you're Black, brown, white, yellow & alot of non white people are just as or if not more Racist cause they think they're non white they can get away with it.Racisim is Racism no matter what colour you are & white people in the present are unfairly criticized for crimes of the past.As I recall South African Indian's under Aparthied had closed off societies & university, schools etc.Cause the Afrikaans do all the work themselves no one is persecuted it's not much different than a American Indian Reservation which have their own Police,Schools infrastructure etc do everything themselves & aren't classed as Racist.Nothing wrong with wanting to preserve your culture & if willing to change with the times & modernize like doing everything themselves not persecuting others like their forefathers did let them be. Lot's of indinginous peoples enslaved foreigners mainly white & each other in the past & they don't get the same scrutiny as a bunch of Afrikaans wanting to live by themselves & do everything themselves just like American Indians on Reservations or Zulu or Swaziland. The mere fact they're willing to talk to the media & who were Black shows they've moved forward along with doing everything themselves not persecuting others not like themselves. Their probably will be coloured people living their in the future someone who has a Afrikaans father or mother & brought up that way & identifies as Afrikaans & is if mixed race means they'll qualify to live there & might have family already living there. These people would be in small numbers but it's not out of the round of possibility & it will be good for their community if half Afrikaans people want to embrace one of their parents culture either one they choose they might choose Zulu & be half white & black but very light skinned.Works both ways.

They don’t want crime, they don’t want corruption, they want to educate their kids in the best way possible, they don’t want to wrongly enrich themselves, they are ready to work and build, they are united, they are about God. The clause in the SA constitution that guarantees the right to self-determination has created an unintended loophole through which racists can continue to be racist and gradually re-impose apartheid on SA society. What are the native Africans doing with their countries, they have all the resources, they have independence, they have fertile land and minerals but yet they can’t sustain themselves but look at Orania with its own currency how are they surviving. • Kiki you are 100% right. Black countries where apartheid and coloniusm never occurred in their histories are dirt poor. Black countries that inherited highly functional economies in all aspects quickly deteriate under childish policies. Zimbabwe comes to mind. SA sees the deteriation of neighbour's such as Zim, Mozambique, Angola , etc and somehow follow the same policies even though it leads to poverty and Black suffering. The average white and black person operating at grass route level at work or at play are really helpful nice people and treat each other in a freindly kind way and iv seen this on a daily basis but yet politicians do not for some reason build on this goodwill. They go out of their way to devide and conquer and in the process plunder . Mercs are bought for kings and Zuma creates strife and death to benefit himself after years of abusing a country yet Black people look up to these atrocities instead of condemning these people so that progress can be achieved. All very strange.

One can only do so when cultures can be developed separately without the one dominating the other. Oranje is a good example of this. Mixing cultures makes us all the same if we do not kill each other first. Remember God caused a multi cultural world with diverse races. It's His blueprint for living. I wish all other cultures would do the same to preserve their heritage. Oh yes, I forgot because that will be just called apartheid.

God created different races.. with unique ways of living.. different types of culinary skills.. different talents. For a people to want to preserve their culture is an utmost right.. to question it and want to dismantle it.. well that's actually where the evil comes in.. I don't mind visiting Orania to learn about the lifestyle.. but I'm not an Afrikaaner and would not want to assymilate because I have my own culture to build, preserve and share with the rest of the people groups.. To try and dissolve any culture is nothing short of evil.. Let's allow each people group the freedom to preserve their cultures and then we come together and share our cultural ideas with each other..maybe it's fashion.. food.. values.. and then if people like it and want to try it.. they can .. WITHOUT forsaking their own cultural heritage...My goodness I don't know what agenda is being played out here..but as citizens We should pray for our beautiful country .. 🌈 Nation 🙏🙏🙏

As a Black American, I am a staunch libertarian conservative who believe in pure freedom which includes people of a common phenotype/genotype have the right to exist in their own separate communities as a collective and establish their own culture, period! This is not about racism at all. Racism is government mandated programs that involve favoring one group of people over other groups of people based on skin color, phenotype/genotype, & other cultural/social commonalities and forced separation/segregation between various groups of people. People could practice prejudice and bigotry against others and even use the system of racism to their advantage. At first I was against the idea of Orania, but now, I'm all for it. The media needs to just leave these people alone and allow them to live in peace.

If government play open cards to all people of South Africa, then everyone would live together in peace and harmony like Mr. Nelson Mandela wanted it. And it was like that at some point, untill government started benefitting from corruption and spreading lies to create chaos among South Africans. If the whole nation stood together, there would be no need for ANC, and they know that. Sad but true.

After the Boer War and the Mfecane wars, the whites had settled into their areas and the black nations into their own areas in a horseshoe shape around South Africa, with the Zulu`s occupying Kwazulu Natal (Natal at the time). There existed no laws that established or recognised these various areas and that is what the 1913 land act set about trying to establish and legalise The white areas where proclaimed under part 1 of the act and the black tribal areas under part 2 of the act, so that everyone knew who had rights to what land (remember their where wars happening between blacks themselves and also the whites because everyone couldn`t live together in peace,so this law was necessary). NObody even questions the various black tribes living their cultural lifestyle within these tribal trust areas (land donated by government)...but let a white try do it (by buying his own land and living on it) and then he is a racist and wants apartheid...crazy, crazy world we live in!

  • The entire interview has been framed wrongly, since from the start the two premises presented are inaccurate and suggestive: 1. "Orania is a a whites-only enclave" No, it is an enclave for Afrikaners and people who identify with Afrikaner people and Afrikaner ideals. The fact that local concentration of a specific ethnic group entails a limited diversity of skin colour is a by-product; not a goal. Afrikaners happen to be white, thus Orania happens to be white. 2. "People like you and I ('me', that is) are only welcome as garden boys and as domestic workers" No, in Orania people do all types of work themselves; from accountancy to building, from being a waiter to being the gardener (or garden "boy" - as the anchorman likes to suggest). In Orania labour is done by the Afrikaner people (volkseie arbeid). It is the rest of South Africa where whites (or any other member of an ethnic group) hire black people to do the cheap labour.

    • @Marisca Koekemoer I dont know. I replied to your statement whereby you expressed that racism and tribalism are the same...and I explained why they are not the same using definition. This has nothing to do with The behaviour of races or tribes its merely definition of races and tribes. Social behaviour and tolerance is a different topic of discussion and does not fit in to my response in any way, shape or form. Read my response carefully. Also...you can get many different tribes of the SAME RACE...if they discriminate against each other, it cant be racism because they are the SAME RACE...for example if Zulus discriminate against Sothos...they are different TRIBES but the SAME RACE so how can tribalism be racism??? Eish🤦🏽‍♂️

Now you talking about principles and the essence of it. Sure they may both be forms of separatism by discrimination but they are different. Racism is when someone discriminates against you because you're for example Black and they are not...Tribalism is if someone discriminates against you because you are from a different tribe...and you can be Black and that person can be Black too...whats so hard here to understand?
