LYRICS
You got my letter, read it twice
Short breaths, long sighs
Might be a liar, might be a drunk
But I forgive you for your giving up
It doesn’t matter, my life was shattered
And my heart’s got holes
You left a child, out in the wild
And I was raised by wolves.
I was raised by wolves.
We would dig for scraps out in the cold
After you left to go and try to find your pot of gold
My teeth got sharper, my skin got tough
So I forgive you for your giving up
It doesn’t matter, my life was shattered
And my heart’s got holes
You left a child, out in the wild
And I was raised by wolves.
I was raised by wolves.
Yea when you left and said goodbye
Under the moonlight, we had to learn to stay alive
In the wild!

It is amazing how Aimee can sing about these things that were painful to her and still have a smile on her face. Reading about her life (suicide attempt, domestic abuse, depression, alcohol problems, etc.) and realizing that some of the videos and live performances that I've watched were shot when she was still suffering severely puts it in a new light. I wonder if she puts that smile on for us (like the performer in Queen's Show Must Go On), or she loved music so much that she was genuinely happy and able to put her problems aside while singing
music is great therapy
As they say in the song… Grew up with nothing but my music!
Recovering apophenia sufferer here…wasn’t easy.
I think that may be a bit of a marketing thing. This band are so fake. Tim's puppets. Not impressed
Being a lifetime rancid fan from back in the day when I heard Tim Armstrong or how it came up in the conversation or you know whatever I got to see and hear them on their first album and to see every album get stronger and tighter it's amazing because this album I think is going to get some awards just saying in my opinion and some of the things that she sings about mean a lot to me is I'm in full on recovery since 2012
You got my letter, you read it twice Short breaths, long sighs Might be a liar, might be a drunk But I forgive you for your giving up For your giving up It doesn't matter, my life was shattered And my heart's got holes You left a child out in the wild And I was raised by wolves I was raised by wolves I was raised by wolves We would dig for scraps out in the cold After you left to go and try to find your pot of gold My teeth got sharper, my skin got tough So I forgive you for your giving up For your giving up It doesn't matter, my life was shattered And my heart's got holes You left a child out in the wild And I was raised by wolves I was raised by wolves I was raised by wolves Yeah, when you left and said goodbye Under the moonlight, we had to learn to say alive In the wild You got my letter, you read it twice Short breaths, long sighs Might be a liar, might be a drunk But I forgive you, yeah It doesn't matter, my life was shattered And my heart's got holes You left a child out in the wild And I was raised by wolves I was raised by wolves I was raised by wolves I was raised by wolves I was raised by wolves
Aouh ouh...
Awooooooooo oooooooo
*sTay alive in the wild....
This band is such a beacon of light. Thank you for that. I wish more people would give it a listen.
I heard this song on the radio and am glad that I found it. It brings back the same feelings from when I first heard it. There is so much hurt, isolation, and loneliness all coming from a broken heart and healing in these lyrics. Aimee brings it out in such a strong performance. You can really feel this song.
I totally agree! ✌
AMAZING!! To see Aimee smile as she sings these lyrics is a beautiful thing. Aimee, you're so strong!! And to have Kevin, Jesse, & Justin as your family - and sick ass band mates - I love that you're carrying on and spreading hope with every word. I CAN'T WAIT FOR MY CD TO ARRIVE! Love you guys!

I'm so sorry about that. I had no idea. I wish her all thebest in the world.
Aimee, man that chick is a much stronger person than I; I will never forgive my father for walking...well, stumbling drunkenly, out of our lives. Even though he's dead and cremated, I feel as though I will forever harbor the hatred and anger he left in his wake. This song may be therapeutic for some, for me it just makes me wish I could see him one more time so I could punch him in his (expletives deleted) face.
that voice... have loved Aimee and the Interrupters since the first time they came onto my feed, also helps that she is gorgeous and tough as nails
If you know Amiee's story this is an accurate reflection of her childhood and the childhood of many others. Wonderful song
My wife's father left when she was 2 months old and never saw her again. It was a tough life of stepfathers, sometimes homeless, sometimes in different states. They weren't all bad, some were. My wife is the person she is today because of the black "wolves" and the white "wolves" that raised her. Her heart has holes, but her teeth are sharper and her skin is tougher. Thank you for the awesome song, and ya'll being bad asses. Keep up the great work
As a father this song is absolutely heartbreaking.
as a Son this song speaks about my broken heart
so true as i'm a father and a son!!!
Saw them in Birmingham, UK, on Friday night, they are AMAZING live ! It was a great set, great venue, great atmosphere, they gave it everything, musicians are tight, Aimee's voice and smile wonderful, a very memorable gig, thank you Interrupters, you are an absolute kickass band, i wish you many more years of success/gigging/good health and happiness. I first came across this band in Jan 2022 when i shazammed a song ( Be Gone) from the radio in Ireland, they are now one of my favourite bands. if you are reading this, give all their music a listen, and then you MUST go see them live, you will love them 🙂🙂
I saw them live too, first concert after giving birth, so the hard part was that I was not allowed to jump ahah ;) It was awesome, and it's a memory I'll cherish forever! I hope to see them again soon too :)
Definitely, the best day of my life was the day I found the Interrupters. I wish could have a fraction of their happiness. Still they always bring me up when I'm down.
Love this band. They keep growing on me. I’m in Detroit Michigan, I was blaring that down the road thinking about all the crap we’ve been through for the past four years as humans on this earth I was feeling the way we were all raised by wolves the way we acted towards each other. Be good to one another.
I work in the child welfare field. I've read interviews where Aimee shared glimps of her challenging childhood in Montana and her escape to L.A. It sure adds to the poignancy of her songs like this one. Aimee is not some great fiction writer able to imagine what abuse, neglect, and foster placement might be like. No, the gut-wrenching truth is she is writing NON-FICTION; these songs are chronicling the history that she's overcome. Aimee is laying bare for all of us her memories in these moving songs. It's EXTREMELY POWERFUL to play Aimee's songs while on my break at a juvenile courthouse outside of Chicago where DCFS brings child removal cases. Aimee, thank you for your beautiful art and for having the courage to share your experiences with your fans. You guys have become my FAVORITE BAND. That's no easy feat; you dethroned some ska icons.🙌🏻👏🏻
This is the best song on the album...thanks The Interrupters to this.
Just want to underline the sheer impossible task to have a drummer making the harmonic voices in the background. What they did. Speaks a lot of the overall level ! Congratulation from Switzerland for your creations. Beautiful work.
I cried. For Aimee, for her big heart and her courage to forgive, and for everyone left out in the wild. Love you guys more than anything, and so so so in love with this song and the whole album.❤
Sending love to you
if you live you succeed wolves are the best teachers.
Forgive what?
Call down emo.
I don't think this song is about forgiving. I guess it's rather about some feelings people that have been abandonned got. That is, having to become an adult ; and, for this, being brought forgive your genitors, or you will stay a child your whole life. As I feel it, the happy/catchy tune is a contrast, it's not the topic.
This isn't just my favorite Interrupters song, THIS IS MY ALL TIME FAVORITE SONG!! Keep crushing it guys!! Freakin LOVE YOU!!!
I just can't get enough of this. This band needs millions of listens. Takes me back to the 90's and my terrible 20's.
Agreed.
This band is flipping amazing. I’m so happy to have found out about them when I did. Aimee’s strength to carry on after all she’s gone through and sing through the pain and heal and help thousands upon thousands gives me hope every day. This is my family 🖤
I've found singing to be incredibly therapeutic whenever I've been faced with trials and tribulations. Good on her!
They really are!
This being released on my birthday is the best gift I could have ever received
Go to song when I want to remember that im better than my upbringing.
Listened to the album as soon as it came out on Spotify. Let’s just say it was an emotional ride. We love you guys thanks for giving us the music and a community that’s full of others that just want to unite!!
❤️❤️❤️
After years of being the "wrong" kind of person, looking to others for fault, I realized forgive myself first and then others in turn. I almost died and now I'm still standing.
In my opinion, the best band of the last 10 years, absolutely. I've seen them in Milan, and it was pure energy
I saw them in Asbury Park this summer. I totally agree! I loved how much Amy smiled. You could just feel how much she loved what she was doing.
I'm glad this one wasn't dropped before the release. This is probably the best song on there, fantastic. See you folks in Slovenia at PRH next week and then back here in Manchester at the end of the month for our 5th and 6th time seeing you! Keep up the amazing work 🙌
❤️
AWOOOO! growing up in several fosterhomes and eventually ending up on the street at age 16 .. this one just hits me
retired step father of a now 10year old. its been 6 years and I cant crash hard enough. Thank you for this. I was just thinking about him.
Forever grateful for the wolves in my life, and for being able to forgive the snake who left me in the wild
After hearing this song on my local radio, I was really surprised. Feels nice knowing that I've subscribed to this band years ago, before they appeared on the radio. Keep it up, I want to hear more of your music when I start my car. Also Aimee is stunning in every way.
Raised by Tim Armstrong...I still feel like an 11 year old hearing Rancid for the first time...Interrupters continuing the timeline...
I just saw them perform live with the Dropkick Murphys. This song was so powerful.
Me too! Just saw them and Dropkick in Johnstown PA in October. Millionth time seeing the Murphys but my first seeing these guys and I loved every moment!
Amazing that someone who has gone through so much has been releasing such positive and energetic songs. I always put them on when I am down. Thanks for keeping us going, especially when you have been suffering
Instantly fav song of the album. Catchy af. Thx for interrupting us with another great piece of art.
As someone who lost her dad to drugs and prostitution and had to watch her mom struggle to raise 4 kids and recover. This song hits me deep.
Thank you so much for this, I lived this song. My father walked out on us when I was very young and left my mother with all his debt and she lost everything including our home. We were literally digging for scraps out in the cold but I ultimately forgave him. Thank you for this.❤❤❤
I absolutely love this band! Living breathing proof that you can conquer your demons if you don't give up. It's never too late. Keep on rocking you guys! ❤️🔥
This song needs to be all over the radio and this video needs to be on TRL.
Total request live? The MTV show?
@@fergon6296 yup!
This band always delivers…
FINALLY-something I can claim as my theme song... GREAT JOB!!! (62 years old in SoCal)
Experiencing you guys at RockWerchter was my best moment of 2023, respect! Much love from Belgium.
Ah wooo! This part gives out a very sad undertone.. Genius placement.
Only discovered this band this year, I'll have to say WHEN DO THEY CONE TO BIRMINGHAM UK!! 😆 🖤
Not sure who was was more excited to hear this me or my 2 sons they 7 and 9 and the 7 yo been singing this for 2 days
Thanks The Interrupters for the new album and for the new video of the song!
Bro got a sick as heck voice
😭😭😭😭 watching your journey since the Revolution days and seeing you finally arrive here has me sobbing. I’m legit so happy for you, you deserve the world. Can’t wait for the album and to see you guys again! ❤️❤️
After listening to this album proper, it’s clear that Aimee and the boys have massively improved since their debut, especially in regards to lyrics. They don’t seem to be reliant on their own influences anymore and the fact that their songs are becoming more personal gives the band maturity without a change in sound. I’d say this is their best work.
I agree. You can see growth between each album, but the leap to Fight the Good Fight and then to this one shows very significant growth in the band.
As one who found them in their beginning, (counting out Amiee's solo stuff) I literally couldn't have said it any better.
How great it is (for me) to discover The Interruptors today!!! Wow...never heard them before.
You guys are just incredible... Hopefully the opportunity arises where a trip to New Zealand becomes possible! 🤞
We need desperately to get them to NZ.
Have my ticket for Birmingham end of next week, looking forward to seeing them for 1st time !
when you left and said goodbye.. Under the moonlight, we had to learn to stay alive,In the wild.. as a child who grew up in a broken home, the lyrics made me cry, but I felt great strength when Aimee sang this song. I AM A LION RAISED BY WOLF *_aaawuuuuu_*
When your bio dad sends you this song and says he loves you. Wasn’t ready for that hurt coin deposit in my feelings savings account. ❤❤
I was homeless on the streets of London in the 90s at 13 raised by hobos, criminals, junkies, bikers and everyone else along the way
This is why I love music. This song is so fucking tragic, but they didn't need to change their sound to make it so.
The Interrupters opened for Weezer, Fall Out Boy, and Green Day last year for the Hella Mega Tour. Part of me is bummed that they didn't write this until recently, because they tore down the house before Weezer did. But at the same time, I just quit my job at a dog daycare to start a new chapter of my life at a zoo internship, so this song was dropped at a fitting time in my life after working with canines for 14 months. Seriously, these guys are badass either way.
Every time I listen to this, instant goosebumps 😍
love it, another few weeks and were seeing you guys live in Nottingham. can't wait
been a casual fan and frequent listener of the band since 2016 but I think that with this record The Interrupters have officially achieved obsession status for me
My favorite song of the album 😍🖤 please come to Mexico City soon! 🥺
I love you guys can't wait to see you this spring!
loved hearing the song live in nyc
This is the first new album I've been pumped on, by anyone, for YEARS. I bought the record yesterday, and I've already bounced the needle back to this song half a dozen times, and it's been on a constant KZhead loop. I even have my 1 year old daughter going crazy for it.
She has such a great and powerful voice but at the same times so comforting 🖤
Much respect to Hellcat Records for putting out great music. A branch off of Epitaph and with Tim Armstrong involved, we get great stuff like this. Interrupters are great. I’m 38 and when I was a teenager it was Rancid and Dropkick. Seen them live. I get that same energy from this group. Thanks! Keep up the good work!
I relate to this song so much. It always chokes me up.
This new album is amazing! Keep putting out great songs and content just in time for a ton of us
I lost my voice screaming along to this at Mohegan Sun last night
As someone who has gone through suicide attempts and depression, drug and alcohol addiction I find a lot of meaning to this tune. Aimee you are a inspiration. Love the song!!!! Just ordered my autographed CD plus the mystery apparel item.
I have a feeling this album is going to be off the damn chain.
These guys are keeping real rock alive!!
Thanks to FM96 in London Ontario 🇨🇦 for bringing my attention to this band! Love Aimee's vocals! New fan here and new subscriber!
519!
I brought my 11 year old daughter to an Interrupters show at a small venue in 2019. We were on the floor by the stage a few rows back when Aimee spotted her snd crossed over to point and wave at her. It was a small gesture, but showed that this band is all heart. At a point in time when most media personalities/celebrities/rockstars or whatever are venal and bullshit, this band is 1000% legit. I'm rooting for their success as if they were friends I've known my whole life. Epic song. Keep fighting the good fight.
This is such a fun new song! Can’t wait to rock with the INTERRUPTERS at Aftershock next month in Sacramento!
It is simple but rhythmic, melodic, energetic and powerful, that's what rock and roll means to me
she's an awesome person. inspirational.
Absolutely brilliant. Full stop.
This woman had some serious Brody Dalle vibes going on. I like it.!
I can't wait for them to play in Japan on PUNK SPRING march!!!
Está banda se ve que va por una excelente evolución explorando y buscando su propio sonido, gran canción por cierto
Really Rockin❤❤
Badass just that simple.
Chills. Every damn time.
I don't know why those wolf ooo-oooohs are so effective. Very nice. When I first saw the title in that scratchy font I thought it was going to be an ode to Rancid's "...And Out Come the Wolves." (Like, raised by the music.)
I can relate to this 🇲🇽
Faz tempo que eu não escutava The Interrupter, inacreditável a evolução do som deles, está cada vez melhor, e a a vocalista continua linda. Diretamente do Brasil.
your smile gives me belief in everything having a good side, pure
This song gets better Everytime i hear it
Amazing, just amazing
Your Production keeps getting better and better without becoming pretentious. You are in the Groove.
I absolutely love this album! This is my 3rd favorite song onthe album. #1: In The Mirror #2: Kiss The Ground #3: Raised By Wolves
Got goosebumps watching that. An absolute banger, that I can't wait to hear live in a few weeks.
You guys crushed in SLC last week! Thank you! I love how much more feeling comes through in your music than 20 years ago on the Hellcat compilation. It’s so honest and in a way more raw than the older stuff. I’m just really excited for the new stuff and relish in the old stuff. Much love y’all.
Just remembering when I discovered you back in 2014. Been hooked since then and now I'm so stocked to the new tunes. Keep with the great music! Can't wait to get my vinyl and my signed CD
Grateful for this álbum, I LOVE THE INTERRUPTERS 🤘🏻🖤🎶🎸
This day is a cool day!! So many new great songs of Interrupters!!! See you in Koln 9-th!!
Music is medicinal. I don't think I'd still be here without it!
my mother killed herself when I was ten when I heard the chorus I couldn't help but cry thank you so much for this song, and for lifting me up everyday!
Glad to stick along ur pack 🤙🏻
Another UNCANNY song!! Thank you Amy, Kevin, Jessie, & Justin for being the Bright Star in our Horizons! Much Love from Minneapolis, MN!!
Red Hot track of the summer ! 🔥🔥🔥
