"She's a sim. And she has needs. And those needs are money." -The Wise James
I read this as he said it. That was weird. Lol.
This first part of the series should be renamed "Semaj predicting all of the Sims 4 updates"
Who is else is watching this in 2019 and just finding out that they didn’t have all these things back then such as door locking
Tamia Renee’ I’m watching it in 2020 🤣
I can't believe I played it back then without so many necessary features.

This is what happened. Cole was interested in art so he took his moms money. His mom found out and grounded him. He asked his friend to get him some art. His mom got really mad and decided to go to the store. She loved it so she forgave her son and brought him. Coles friend loved it too and bought some art for himself.
Definitely what happened.
OK!! So remember how we all said that the kid with the red hair had rich parents? Turns out that the classy women who came into the shop WAS his mum!! They both have red hair, and Roe for their last name!! XD
deana woah hi my name Daena. (Day-na)
I am in love with this comment! I came in the comments to see if anyone else was in love/liked that red-haried kid - I'm so enamoured with the boy that buys tasteful childlike art! I mean, he has such good taste! I feel like he's decorating a playroom or something! lol
@@derelictdiva Late to the party here, but I commented something similar in a previous video, haha! I totally agree. There was a painting he had originally wanted that the woman bought before he could get it, so he left the store. Then the next time he came back, there was a masterpiece version of it, and he was able to buy that instead. I think that was in the second or third episode. I really like him and while I know this series is already over, I'm kind of hoping that when he becomes a teen, maybe he can be the staff in the shop, if James hired staff to help Lady out! Especially since now they seem to be good friends! ^^
she might even be his sister? its super blurry so its hard to tell but her age kinda looks like it says "teen"
@@tinyelephant2104 update: that definitely says teen, so they are more than likely siblings
watching in 2020 and the way he’s spending so much money on restocking is making me scream
I think selling paintings should count as a painting career so I say go ahead and unlock the easels
That's my rationalization, too. Go for it The Sim Supply
Yeah there shouldn't be any problem with unlocking the easels, after all he still has to work for the money to buy them.
No traditional jobs - James
@@cheeriohh he means it substitutes for a traditional job
new theory: “aphrodisiac 2.0” is krysta’s ancestor
As someone coming from Horse Ranch, no James, you do not want the ability to lock doors
You should paint a painting of a painting of your paintings

yes!! have her "paint from reference" then paint a picture of all the paintings on the wall :)
Paintception!
Turn that 1080 pixels to 720 pixels. Lol
+Nyle Parvez YO DAHWG
Except you're selling at a 25% markup so you're ALWAYS guaranteed +25% on every sale, no matter how little it costs. I know I'm, like, 3 years late to this party, but I'm so frustrated by your business sense lol Scenario 1: You have $100. You spend all of that on a large painting. Now you have $0. The painting is worth $1000 (nice round numbers make calculating percentages in my head easy). You sell it at a markup of 25%. Now you have $1250. You start another large painting, which, again, costs $100. Now you have a net profit of $1150. Scenario 2: You have $100. You spend all of that on a large painting. Now you have $0. The painting is worth $1000. You sell it at a markup of 25%. Now you have $1250. You restock it, which costs the original amount that the painting was worth, which in this case, is $1000. You are left with a net profit of just the 25% markup, or $250. In scenario 1, where you paint instead of restocking, your net profit for every $1000 worth of paintings AFTER considering the cost of "restocking" (read: painting another painting) is $1150. In scenario 2, where you restock instead of starting new paintings, your net profit for every $1000 worth of paintings after considering the cost of actually restocking them (which, again, costs the amount that the completed painting is worth) is just the 25%, which in this case is $250. You're probably not going to read this and I know it wouldn't make a difference to the game at this point even if you did, but it makes me feel better to rant it out.
i am even later here than you are but i am glad about this comment honestly xD

You should change her clothes next part and also you should do the unlock cheat so you can buy a better easel. One of them has a better chance of making a masterpiece...
Paint the pictures on the wall
Just hire someone to sell stuff while Lady paints all day
Hi
I agree
Jesse Schumann My employees almost never get to the customer in time. They get caught up in a conversation or start playing on their phone. Their stats dont really seem to matter. It would be useful if it worked and did so quite wonderfully in sims 2 but for some reason not in sims 4 in my opinion. Maybe im just having problems understanding the progression and managing.

i know these videos are old but spending all of the money you make restocking is so frustrating to me just paint more pictures
I'm watching them even later and it's driving me crazy. He keeps doing these weird things, watching the new once I see he repeats the same stuff he said he would never do here. Haha You can even get master pieces worth 15k
I’m watching this 5 YEARS later and I agree
omg i'm 3 years later than you and still SO IRRITATED JUST PAINT MORE PICTURES!
@@amandin0 it’s just one of those things where you figure out what’s more important. He gets time back to sell more paintings which could make more money in the long run 🤷🏾♀️ i would add another person so one is selling and one is creating.
Agreed. More skill. Plus, sell off the non Masterpieces, quit burning your money.
"Replaced him after the crash" sounds like the other gardener died in a plane crash or something XD
How funny that this video James mentions the need for old style industrial bricks and literally announces YESTERDAY that they were released in Werewolves and he designed the lots in the game with them 😂👌 perseverance at its finest ❤️

I can't believe James has had this one Sim for nearly 6 months now. I can barely keep interest in one of my Sims for a few days >.>
you wont guess what happened
Perhaps you can unlock the other easels when you reach level 10 of the painting skill as a compromise for not advancing through the career.
i just restarted this series and it’s crazy to see how much this game has grown in this time! i started watching this when me and my husband were still in high school and now we’re married 🥺 u also predict so many upcoming things to come to the sims so it’s funny bc at this point u don’t even know!
You should buy a work bench and have lady craft things that she can sell you can put them on little tables in the middle of the store because the store looks really empty!
I was thinking the same thing!
Yesss we need door locks!!! I don't understand why they thought we wouldn't need them. We didn't buy the EP just to open a store and never work on it!
I think if it was as easy as just adding them in they would have done so already. They're probably still working on it
It is easy, but not with this artificial separation of stores and residences. I don't get why they did that this time when it worked before, maybe it was causing problems this time? Maybe people do live above their stores.
sh0ppy95 On the website 'Mod the sims' you can
sh0ppy95 guys they just did it.
Toby Nimmo check when comment was posted 3 months ago were there door locks 3 months ago? No.
Maybe the kid was grounded from leaving the house and now he sent in his drug dealer friend to get paintings for him

He was definitely grounded for buying too many paintings.
Maybe but his mom is also buying paintings there
They should totally get loordockings!
Ahahah he said it in the video lol (:
yea sorry didn't watch the hole thing :)
Kerp the shop open 24/7 as long as you don't have employees. When customer wants to buy stuff, just stop what ever your sim so doing and ring him/her.
this gameplay is so frustrating to watch 5 years later hahah. oh boyyyyy.
"I'm rich, I'm classy, and I'm here to buy artsy" - James Turner, 2015
You should've made her a perfectionist. you'd get more masterpieces.
You could set a goal that must be met to unlock the fancy easel like "must reach level 10 painting and have painted ten masterpieces" -- something like that to make it feel like an achievement that she earned.
You would make more money if you get painted more paintings instead of restocking. It kills me to see how much money you are wasting. Invest more time painting and less time wasting.

You really would make a loooot more money by actually painting the paintings you'd sell. This way you only pay 50$ bugs and earn sometimes even more than 2500$ . This is way more than just 125% ;-)... it's 50times more! which is like 5000% profit!
Sims: it’s worth $2,207 Me: better start painting mailboxes
Few years late, but imo you could figure out how much money you would gain while progressing the career to the point you unlock that easel, and then "buy" it for that price
5 years later and this still makes me furious.
Condescension 3 months later and this comment makes me furious
@Charlie Bloom Why?
i would understand if he did the restocking thing if the markup were 300%, but at 25% IS IT REALLY WORTH IT!!!!!
Yes in the time it takes to make a painting he could restock the whole store and if he has just 12 the cost the same thats 300% profit instead the 100% profit you would get from only one painting but he has around 12 and some are masterpieces so it is really worth it to restock instead of painting
If you take a "thoughtful" shower every morning it gets you inspired I think, inspired is the best mood to create master pieces :)
i don't think you should restock anymore because you are making less money than painting and selling
Why haven't they made easel's portable yet? So many artists bring it with them when outdoors, it'd be awesome if they had a portable easel in the future. You could just use the free build cheat and buy an easel for whatever lot you're on.

I'm extremely happy that you're rolling this series out so quickly. It is my favorite thing to watch right now! Keep up the great work!!
Addicted to this LP!!! Post more!
Hey James. Maybe you could arrange the art by price? That way you can always restock the masterpieces/high priced paintings before the low cost ones, eventually phasing out the lowest as you paint better ones.
I'm playing Sims for so long but actually never had a shop in Sims 4. I just started a new Rags to Riches yesterday and I feel the urgent need to play along with James here and open my first Business and go into arts. Have to admit, that I'm more of a Plobsy kind of person, but this looks so fun!
Anyone else watching the whole series I’m 2020 lockdown 🙌🏻
This series is so much fun due to your constanstly high energy
Lmao not me stopping the video to see if it’s actually the thumbnail😂😂
small and medium paintings become masterpieces more often than large paintings because it is a smaller scale for the sim to paint.
He should have marked the price past 25% he could have marked it to like 50 % and made a lot more
Never mind I made it to the part when he does
The restocking, it pains me greatly LOL
before I started watching this I wasn't really into the Sims 4. but now that I have watched a few episodes, I creates a Sim that is opening a business just like yours with paintings and photos. thanks for getting me reinto a game I really love
Rewatching this series inspires me to play my Sims game with my very limited packs available 🤣

I started watching rags to riches get famous and I love Lady III so much I decided to come back to the start.
Same. It's gonna be a loooong recap
I came here from Sebastian
Last episode: Anything not photorealistic isn't a masterpiece. This episode: A comic book panel is a masterpiece.
Stop restocking! It costs $100 to make a painting but $1000 to restock it! You made 6 grand in one day but lost $5500 because you where restocking! Never restock!
Not all paintings are 1000 to restock, to restock something, you pay the same price without the 20% thingy. It works to restock.
Mohamad Nahas I do realize I,m a little late, but don't you realize he's constantly making 25% of that masterpiece, and not having to make another. That is almost the same amount of profit as constantly making normal paintings
Harry Lane please just count, if masterpiece costs 2000, you have to restock 4 times at 25% profit to earn those 2000 back. If you just paint and sell, you earn ALL 2000 + 25% porfit (total 2500)
He lost the money because of the renovations last episode

I was so excited to see this, you have no idea!! Can't wait for part 5 :) x
I think you should hire an employee so while they are helping the customers you can make more paintings

Totally should just be opening the shop while painting. I mean, why not? Make more to sell while you're selling! Then you can hire a staffer to do all the shop work and you just pump out paintings full time. xD
