Dang I feel so called out by "you can tell this one's high quality by the way it is." What are you supposed to do when you get a bad or subpar gift but you know that the person cares and don't want to be ungrateful? That's my go-to: Complementing the gift.

There's also people like my mom who "politely" outright refuse gifts because they don't like that you spent money on them Like "no, no cmon now this is extravagant I didn't need this kitchenaid cmon honey that's too much money let's send it back, can you send it back? It's not only ungrateful (thereby robbing you of the joy of giving), but it's also manipulative when you break it down because it says to you (a thoughtful and generous person), "Agree that you don't think I'm worth much." It's a hugely unhealthy way for someone with serious issues to foist some of their burden onto you. That is yucky indeed! Especially all dressed up in nicey nice! This type of person is a danger to others' sanity.

Oh my gosh the “grateful kid” was literally my brother last Christmas. He’s allergic to like everything so when he does find something he can eat he gets super excited. Also whenever someone got him something he would get so excited. My aunt wanted to test this So when he was 6 years old, my aunt got him a potato and said “ this ones dairy free, soy free, gluten free and organic! Just for you bud!” He started jumping up and down and was like “its a dairy free potato!” We ended up traveling across the US a few days later and he brought it with him. He didn’t throw it away until it was all moldy

I remember asking my mom for a roll of tinfoil for Christmas one year and genuinely meaning it becayse my brother and i wanted to make boats out of it. We didn't get the tinfoil but on the bright side she let us use some of the stuff we had at home. Best day ever.

- well unfortunately most people want very few things besides children who want ton of very very specific things and in the end either you knew you were gonna get it or your disappointed. very few people out there can just enjoy things they didn't already decide they liked, especially when they wanted something else and didn't get it you would be surprised how many adults act just as immature as children, and not just the ones drinking beer then again I'm probably not much better considering how I opted out of having periods at the ends of those sentences because it made them seem overly imposing and jerk wad like

I was the one that got so excited and happy that I would scream at the top of my lungs, especially if it was one I really wanted or really liked. Which was almost every present. I also just screamed because I liked to scream. 😀

- Idk man, have you gotten a gift for anyone before? Giving gifts to my close loved ones and seeing them even crack a smile makes my heart warm and I feel genuinely happy. If you like the gift, try to show your appreciation by at least saying thanks. Although, if it REALLY bothers you or makes you uncomfortable, you don't have to.

One Christmas Eve I made some toast but burned it badly. I threw it away. The next day i opened a gift and that burnt toast was inside the box wrapped in aluminum foil. I loved it, it was so thoughtful.

the grateful kid one is so accurate. My little niece was 5 when this happened: it was Christmas and someone who was my best friend at the time gave her a gift to unwrap. My niece took off the wrapping paper and gasped, "A BOX?!?!? THANK YOU, [NAME]!!!" and we all died from the cuteness
