  • I was very pleased that you reviewed the Volks Oper for me! Last September, my daughter and I attended Tristan und Isolde at the Wien Staats Oper. It was my daughter's first opera, and it was an unforgettable experience. I truly love Wien, and have visited the city 5 times. I love the music scene and the access to world class museums such as the Naturhistorisches Museum and Kunsthistorisches Mu seum. On one of my many solo trips, I visited Schloss Schoenbrunn but the gardens were not yet ready for the summer flowers. The Wiener Residenz Orchester is a bit "spendy," but has excellent performances of Mozart and J. Straus Jr. So...as a result of this video, I'm adding the Volks OPer for this upcoming visit to Wien! I'm again visiting Europe for 5 weeks during August and to mid September; arriving in Muenchen, and then taking day trips to various sights I've missed over the years, but including some of your day trips by Eisenbahn: Kloster Andechs; Werdenfels Castle (Ruins); Noerdlingen; Regensburg. There's still a lot of Muenchen for be to undertaken as well: Residenz, more beerhalls!

    • That's great. I'm glad you had such a wonderful time. We can't wait to return and see all the other musical offerings. We really did love the Folks Oper though. Have a wonderful time in Munich! We love all those trips!

  • You pointed out the radar tower being in better condition than the gun tower. Thing is that one is the only one that's damaged at all and due to a failed demolition attempt. They tried to blow it up and it cracked just enough to become unsafe to be around. The top was reinforced with metal wires to stop those massive chunks from falling and we gave up on demolishing them.

  • Jägerschnitzel is actually unbreaded, then it's okay. But softening a crispy schnitzel with sauce is a nogo.😭😂

    • So my redemption arc is not yet complete. I mean I tried it your way, it was good, I enjoyed it very much. But I’ll die on the hill of Drei Mühlen in Munich, with their Schnitzel and mushroom gravy……it’s just my favourite.

  • When you come back to vienna, i highly recommend you visit the Haus des Meeres (the city aquarium that is located in one of the FLAK Towers) the price is not cheap BUT you have a cafe with a wonderful view over vienna at the top. AND there is also a very interesting second museum in there about the FLAK Towers themselves. you should also compare the Prater to your English Garden in Munich 😉

    • We definitely will! It looked great, and we love aquariums. Thanks! We actually were going to film a section about Prater, but ran out of time. :O

    • @@NearFromHome if you go to the prater, get a biiike and ride throught he whole thing. because otherwise you won't see all of it. just don't stay on the amusmantpark only. because the prater is a ot more than that. if you like hiking, you coud do the habsburgwarte. on weekend (you can google it) you can go up and get a relly nice view over vienna. it's an easy trail and not too long

  • About the vegetarian schnitzel: the crust not sticking to the non-meat is a sign of good schnitzel technique - no idea how it's called in English, but a good schnitzel muss sufflieren - the crust has to puff away from the meat and form air bubbles. Btw, if you are into history, I'd recommend Carnuntum as a daytrip

    @idnwiw@idnwiw5 күн бұрын
    • Ahh I see, so maybe the vegetarian schnitzel was gourmet after all. lol Thanks for the recommendation! The Roman city recreation looks so cool. We want to return to Vienna to do some day trip videos, so maybe we will add this.

    • Thanks so much! It was cool to visit a city with so much classical music history. It unfortunate that Vienna is so far away from Bavaria. You'll have to of back to explore that part of the world. :)

  • Ever since I heard you were doing a Vienna series, I was quite interested. And you both far exceeded all expectations with this one. You make Vienna so beautiful and appealing. Love you taking us to the out of the way Beethoven museum and, most of all, the park with the towers. That was amazing! I’m so grateful to you both for your great videos and am looking forward to the next ones (where ever that may be!).

  • The Flaktürme are a bit strange to Viennese as well, like a reminder to our history. But life goes on around them and I think they are a symbol of living with a horrendous past and not let it define the future. (That was a bit deeper then intended)

    • Love it! :) We are not completely opposed to those European river cruises. Maybe we will do it one day, but it really depends on how long you have in each port. I can't imagine having enough time to see a city like Vienna.

    @williamkirkgaard9679@williamkirkgaard96794 күн бұрын
    • I’d love to. If people would watch it! My content outside of Germany doesn’t do nearly as well, so sadly it always has to be a bit of a strategic decision as to when we release non German stuff. For example why we didn’t just release all of our Georgian videos at one but instead spread them around. I don’t like doing that personally, but a few years back we released a series of videos in Turkey (which are very good and I love that series) but it almost killed the channel and set our growth back considerably.

  • According to Schnitzel breading ...you were right and wrong at the same time. "Yes" the breading shouldn´t fall off - but - "No" the breading should not stick on the meat. I´m aware that sounds now like a contradiction but it actually isn´t and that´s how the breadcoat has to be for a Wiener Schnitzel. The breading´s surface has to be "wavy" in order to be "correct" for a Wiener Schnitzel therefore it must not stick on the meat. BUT the crispy breading must not break and crumble when you cut it because if it does than it will "fall off" which it shoudn´t at all = The "Art" is to avoid both due to the right making = 4 substantial rules 1. Don´t press with the hands the beadcrumbs on the meat, just a very easy soft touch is allowed = pressing the breadcrumbs on the meat that´s the most common mistake 2.Tap off the surplus of flour before you put the Schnitzel into the eggwash but be sure the entire Schnitzel is still fully covered with flour (that will avoid that the breadcoat breaks) 3.The eggwash has to cover the Schnitzel entirely so no flour is to been seen anymore so be sure there are always enough eggs for the eggwash (that will also avoid that the breadcoat breaks) 4. You have to keep the right temperatured oil or fat ( = either clarified butter or lard or a mixture of all of those or just 2 of those) moving while frying the Schnitzel in order to loosen the breadcoat from the meat in order to avoid sticking on the meat = permanent pivoting the pan during the whole frying process. Actually Figlmüller´Schnitzel breading is on the very egde to be considered as "correct" because it is just very barly wavy but almost "flat" like a "carpet" and that´s what we Viennese call disparaging "Bröselteppich/"breadcrumb-carpet" instead of "Wiener Schnitzel"

  • Nice! 🙂 3:37 Not "zone", "district" 5:21 nobody calls the Viennese city centre "Altstadt". The first district (= the original city of Vienna surrounded by city walls - the space later became the Ringstraße) is officially called "Innere Stadt", locals also say "Innenstadt" or "Zentrum" or use some specific location, but never "Altstadt". All other districts once were towns and villages on their own and later incorporated into Vienna. 25:50 the dark stuff probably is Styrian pumpkin seed oil ("Kürbiskernöl" or simply "Kernöl") - I use it on many salads, Styrians put it on almost everything. Also, this is not just potato salad, it is also "Vogerlsalat" on top ("Feldsalat" in German German, various English names).

    @ronik24@ronik2411 күн бұрын
    • Mostly I am saying Altstadt as it is a sort of a thing on this channel. A recurring segment. Where I live in Munich, and most of the Bavarian towns and cities I’ve covered, they call it the Altstadt and so in video after video after video we start our city tours walking the Altstadt City Center. Granted I would have guessed that you guys use that word too, but I was saying less about Vienna and more about making a call back to all the other videos. If I changed the word, it’d rhyme less with the other videos. So I just stuck to what I’m used to saying. Not gonna lie though :) Zentrum and Innenstadt don’t sound nearly as charming.

  • Im Ersten obviously. Thats becoming more and more like Disneyland. Super hostile to drivers. I live near hoher markt and I drive my car. I wont move away for tourists and I wont give up my car. See me drive around in circles every day after work because a garage is 400€ each month. I invite you to join, sometimes its only 2 minutes, sometimes 30 and sometimes I just leave the car wherever and accept the 36€ fine. I know its hard to understand, I know... But this is my home and the city wasnt like this so many years ago. I stay to the end, even if I am not welcome.
