  • Sick Green is my workhorse base for my Salamanders- the bubbling drives me mad though - any time it touches water. I don't overload, agitate once applying to the model and i always have to check for a stray bubble that need popping. If don't catch it will dry with the bubble. I've seen your reply, just adding to the chorus. Maybe its been fixed but this was 4 months ago.

  • Thanks for the guide. Can you comment on the bubble issue? Even in the video you can see a lot of bubbles forming on the mini. How do you deal with that?

    @BelIa42@BelIa4220 күн бұрын
    • I already answered this, so I will copy and paste the answer: I personally have never seen this issue in my day to day painting and it's not due to being slow or methodical. I've used these paints, as I state in the video, for my live masterclasses where students use them and not a single one of them had this issue at all. Some were experienced and most were regularly novice painters. I still can't understand how people have this issue, and I say this with the most respect here. You can see me applying a basecoat here with lots of paint and not a single bubble in the end result, you can also see how smooth and uniform the basecoat is after drying. I suggest you apply the paint more carefully and try to be gentler. Using a large soft haired brush will help you out in covering more area while being more deliberate in the application. If some bubbles form try blowing on them gently. That always helps and not only while painting, blowing gently solves most problems in life.

    • @@JuanHidalgoMiniatures I've been using Vallejo paints for probably close to 2 decades. I love the brand and i was excited to use the new formula game color range. I say this with the utmost respect, it's certainly an issue only with their new formula and only certain colors. I assure you, i know how to apply paint :) That said, it seems to mostly occur in recesses. So as you paint towards a recess, the bubbles appear. To your point, I have found that blowing gently does help. I've also found that sort of gently disturbing the area with the brush helps as well but even then i still get SOME small micro bubbles. The main issue is that if you don't catch them while they are still wet, it dries leaving a sort of mottled raised texture. I live in the states, so i don't know if our formula is slightly different or if shipping it had some adverse affects. I don't know if shaking the pots to much causes it. I don't know if dilution with water is what causes it. But I can say that plague brown specifically caused the issue and the other paints I've used (some greens and other browns) i didn't notice the issue.

    • @@JuanHidalgoMiniatures Honestly, I'm a bit surprised by this answer because I can see bubbles in this video. 2:30 on the palette, when you mix the colour. 2:44 when you put this paint on the horse. 4:20 when you mix the separated colour back together 5:10 between the saddle and the reins there are a couple of dried (?) bubbles leaving white spots. Am I the only one seeing those?

    @nikolaosalexandroskaloumen1693@nikolaosalexandroskaloumen169320 күн бұрын
    • That would be way too long to answer but for example I would highlight Cayman with Camouflage and shade it with Dark Green. You can always find two suitable colours that work well even if you have to sometimes mix a bit to bridge a large gap. Game Color and Model Color have been designed to be symbiotic, so you will be able to find the colours you need in that range.

    • @@JuanHidalgoMiniatures I kinda find this confusing since you can already see some aspects of it in your video on your palette. I usually "stab" my paint on for basecoats, which really agitates the formula and makes the bubbles. One of the only other KZheadrs to talk about these paints, Stahly, has also come out and admitted it's a problem with the range. It is very replicable, so I don't know why it's not a problem here. Compare it to another paint in the same session and you'll see what people are talking about. You can also see it happen in Angel's videos and he likewise just refuses to acknowledge that it's happening.

  • I, sadly, disagree and it is very unfortunate. I'm further worried about Vallejo. New Game Color is one of the worst ranges I've painted with. Laying down a base leaves more bubbles than any other thicker or thinner (diluted) range. Of course, you can find even worse, but I would never recommend GC to a beginner or advanced painter for any reason. One thing Citadel knows is a lot of new painters just want their layers to go down, and don't use (nor should be expected to use) wet pallets. And advanced painters can use any paint, it's a matter of it is quality. AK paints are far superior in quality, nearly any other paint line is better for beginners. :( Vallejo is my very favorite of all the game companies. They further face problems getting their paint line to the US with customs for some reason now, and that hurts even more. Their overall lines are the best, but recently, they have made bad decisions. Their 'contrast' line is also very disappointing in coverage from what I've used. I only pick up the GC and contrast now to support my FLGS, and I believe, bit by bit, they are looking to other lines. A big problem with Vallejo is if you don't also carry their model color, there is a real question as to why to carry their other products in the store. Competition is rough, I hope Vallejo kills this bad direction they've gone in, and survives. Come on, Vallejo, you can do MUCH better!

    • The main difference is the colour selection. There are slight differences in formulation but it's basically the colours.

  • The redgrass wet palette is just horrendously overpriced, green stuff world is cheaper and performs the same, paper is actually better at gsw

    @MutsuKazuma@MutsuKazuma20 күн бұрын
    • I don't agree on the paper, I think the redgrass re-usable is the absolute best paper ever made and also I refuse to buy anything GSW makes or promote them in any way shape or form. That's just a personal preference and I don't care or judge what others do.
