  • Gamecube was such a great console. It was a crime that it didn't move at least Wii-level units back when. That whole era of consoles in fact (Dreamcast, Playstation 2, Gamecube, Xbox) was the golden era as far as I'm concerned. Thanks for reminding me about The Quarry. Forgot all about it.

  • The game you bought, is the second game of the second arc! The best thing to do is to start from the beginning (Trails in the sky). But you are a very busy dad and entrepreneur so... Start at trails from zero. Some things concerning returning characters will fly other your head but you won't be lost !

  • Trails, either start with Trails in the Sky 1 (Sky trilogy), Trails from Zero (Crossbell duology, Azure that you picked up is its second part), or Trails of Cold Steel 1 (4 Cold Steel games) all related stories but pick from those 3 substories and play whichever subseries in order then go to the other ones in order. Also Turbografx-16 has a precursor to Trails called Legend of Heroes Dragon Slayer

  • Trails to Azure is the fifth game in the series, and they're all interconnected. If you want to experience Trails in its fullest, then start with Trails in the Sky FC (First Chapter). You will not regret it! Here is the order of the games: Liberl Arc: Trails in the Sky FC Trails in the Sky SC Trails in the Sky the 3rd Crossbell Duology: Trails from Zero Trails to Azure (I highly recommend you at least play Zero before this one) Erebonia Arc: Trails of Cold Steel Trails of Cold Steel 2 Trails of Cold Steel 3 Trails of Cold Steel 4 Trails into Reverie

    • The cold steel games really appeal to me but the earlier games just don't inspire me. They just don't look or feel good to me and I love playing older games. I'm sure they are amazing games, everybody raves about them. I end up just moving on but I really want to check that series out

    • You should definitely give them a chance. I went in with extremely low expectations (after hearing people say how amazing the series is) and throughly enjoyed them. I beat one game and jumped straight into the next one, i couldn't put it down. Just remember that the first could of games are old and things are obviously outdated but they are extremely enjoyable

  • Kena was an incredible game! I was expecting just a fun little Pixar looking adventure from a new indie studio, but man was I surprised! Beautiful world, great music, graphics, story and excellent and challenging gameplay. I couldn't believe how good the game was when I played it two years ago.

  • As for the Trails series, start with Trails in the Sky. I'm a new Trails player myself and I started with Sky FC and then finished Sky SC some time later. I plan on continuing with the series. Sky trilogy can be played on any PC or a PSP. Or a Vita, where you can even install English translation patch for the Evolution versions (which are basically remasters with new character portraits, new versions of the music tracks, new UI etc.)

  • I love the Trails series! They have great characters, music, art, and some of the best world-building in gaming. I started with the Trails in the Sky trilogy, then went into the Cold Steel arc (4 games), and finally imported the Crossbell duology before the official releases in the US. Nihon Falcom actually used the fan translation from The Geofront mod team as the base for those official English releases too. By starting in Trails to Azure, you'll probably be missing some context for a few things, like who some characters are and previous story events, but it shouldn't be too bad.

  • I’m still of the firm belief that we’re in a golden age for gaming. Wow - Y’s and Sol-Deace… awesome! Sol-Deace (which, I ‘think’ was also Sol-Feace… with an F; naming conflict, I beleive) was a shooter I’d always wanted to try… Shmups are amongst my favorites. As for Y’s; if you’ve never tried “Y’s & the Vanished Omens” on the Sega Master System, it was tons of fun. Great haul, and great video! (Belated) Happy Birthday, of course! …always looking forward to your next vids. Cheers! 😊

  • I had Star Ocean 2nd Story for the PS1 back in the day. I enjoyed the game; the battle system was unique vs traditional JRPGs or up until that time at least. But Star Ocean has so much customization & so many story directions, I know I didn't finish the game. Still, it's not a bad game; Star Ocean was a victim of release timing & Square's success w the Final Fantasy franchise. FFVII dropped in NA ~Sept. of 1997 & work on FFVIII had already started before FFVII was released. Following the success of FFVII, the hype that would eventually build for FFVIII was tremendous, & it dropped in ~Feb. of 1999. Star Ocean carried the Square name, it was going to be compared to FFVII & they could have dropped Star Ocean in NA in 1998 if they had pushed it. Instead, Star Ocean wouldn't be released until the Summer of 1999 in NA. It was still compared to FFVII & FFVIII, but those were the first mainstream JRPGs to take off like that in NA. Star Ocean is a JRPG, but it's not like the Final Fantasy Franchise, nor was it headed in the same direction Final Fantasy was going. So, the game was considered just an "average" RPG when it was released in NA back in 1999. However, I would imagine Star Ocean today would be considered well above average by a Retro Gamer.

  • For trails games you should REALLY start with trails in the sky and work up from there. It's extremely recommended to play them in order of release as it is one big continuous story. You could start with trails from zero but you would miss a lot of story and context and certains things would not be very impactfull. Its not recommended to start with cold steel as that spoils major events from trails to zero/azure and you wont really know what's going as it's expected for you to know what's happening up to that point.

    @Super_Death@Super_DeathАй бұрын
  • Gris is so good. I loved my experience with it. Absolutely beautiful, moving, and also fun gameplay. I have recently started Trails in the Sky (finished FC and half way through SC). I have loved starting at the beginning. I hear you CAN start at any first game of an arc (Trails in the Sky FC, Trails from Zero, or Trails of Cold Steel 1) but I have to echo the majority and say that starting with Sky has been a brilliant experience so far.

    @johnathanrhoades7751@johnathanrhoades775127 күн бұрын
  • If you’re gonna start with the trails series you should start with Trails in the sky FC (first chapter). It’s the very start of the whole thing, and the games get progressively more user friendly as the series progresses (so it’s hard to go BACK to an antiquated game after having the quality of life that the newer ones provide) Besides, the first one is amazing. You should really get a steam deck if you don’t have one dude. The base OLED model would suit you well. And the whole trails series is on PC

  • I highly recommend to begin to with the "Trails in the Sky" series. All Trails games have a own story but the universes are somewhat connected to each other. The Sky series has some very important details you might want to see in the other series later on. Everything has a meaning and the different plots demand on something you've might noticed in one of the previous games already. All I can say the Trails series in general is one of the best JRPG ever made.

    @danl2d884@danl2d884Ай бұрын

  • I’m really happy about the update Star Ocean 2 R got. It’s an amazing game, but it’s biggest problem was how easy it is to get way overpowered and be unstoppable. I’m not going to replay it so soon, but when i do I look forward to the new difficulty, and content. I’ve been replaying my favorite Larian game Divine Divinity. It was their first game, and is an isometric action RPG. Sort of like Diablo, but an open world, and you can multi class all the abilities and spells. It’s seriously one of the best RPGs ever made, and is so overlooked. I hope Larian makes another one like it, and takes a break from the CRPGs after Baldurs Gate 3

  • Ah Clayton i am so glad you picked up a Legend of Heroes game. Trails from Zero is the first one in the duo-logy of games then move on to play Trails to Azure. If you want the full chronology in order to play the series then here it goes and where to play them. Trails in the Sky (Available on Steam / PC with English translations) Trails in the Sky Second Chapter (Available on Steam / PC with English translations or PS Vita digital store front) Trails in the Sky the 3rd (Available on Steam / PC with English translations) Trails from Zero (Available on PC, PS4 or Switch) Trails to Azure (Available on PC, PS4 or Switch) Trails of Cold Steel (Available on PC, PS Vita, PS3, PS4, PS5 & Switch) Trails of Cold Steel II (Available on PC, PS Vita, PS3, PS4, PS5 & Switch) Trails of Cold Steel III (Available on PC, PS4, PS5 & Switch) Trails of Cold Steel IV (Available on PC, PS4, PS5 & Switch) Trails into Reverie (Available on PC, PS4, PS5 & Switch) Trails Through Daybreak (Available on PC, PS4, PS5 & Switch coming Summer 2024) If you play the series on dedicated hardware you gain bonus rewards with the save data. For the older versions of the games like Legend of Heroes Trails of Cold Steel I & II if you play these on PlayStation Vita and PlayStation 3 you can freely cross-save your data between the two systems in and out of the house. You can cross-save to PS4 or PS5 as well but its only done one time and is not retroactive. If you own a PlayStation Vita you can also play Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky 1-3 on one dedicated system so long as you've hacked your console and downloaded the fan-translated patches. I hope this helps and welcome to the Falcom universe of Legend of Heroes :D

  • Wow! What a haul. Congrats on the Polymega. I love the idea of it but I heard there were some bugs. Some of the games had some hiccups in gameplay or sound. Hopefully when you are able to set it up and dive into the games, there will be some software updates to fix the issues. Because I have my retro consoles up and running, the Polymega is not for me but I definitely can see the appeal of it. A modern multi-system console I have been really enjoying and highly recommend is the Analogue Pocket. I don't have all the adapters to it but I have the system, the dock and the Sega Game Gear adapter. All the games work flawlessly and I am able to play Game Boy, Game Boy Color, Game Boy Advance and Sega Game Gear on the amazing screen of the system and docked to my TV. There was just a simplicity and fun factor associated with those early 8 and 16-bit games and that greatness was just continued with all those portable systems of the time. The only downside was the limited screen technology but the Analogue Pocket fixes all that. The next 3 adapters were just released which allows you to play Neo Geo Pocket, Atari Lynx and Turbografx-16 but you have the Tubografx-16 covered with your Analogue Duo that is if you can find them in stock. The Analogue Pock has to be one of the best retro game systems ever made. Don't know how I missed Kena, but that game looks outstanding. It does remind me of what Pixar used to be and the fact what you see are in game graphics is insane. I see it is Deck Verified so I will be picking it up for my Steam Deck. Thanks for the video and continue to enjoy those games! It is an amazing time to be a gamer and just in time to help provide a break from all the craziness we have to face in the day to day.

  • Nice pickups. I love The Quarry. Have you tried the Dark Pictures anthology? Some great, similar games there. My daughter is into (and got me into) retro gaming. We looked everywhere for 1,000 year door before finally finding one 70 miles away.

    • Also, the Trails series has multiple arcs. I agree with others that you should start at the beginning with Trails in the Sky.

  • This guy looks too be my age but probably looks alot better. I still love games but when life gets crappy and your health goes to hell I find them hard to play now but games help me at time to get my brain into gear. Just some advice for people out there don't smoke. It gets you in the end.

  • Another great video! Any chance you have a discord or similar going? I somehow feel your viewers might be an intelligent bunch who could provide some fun chats to mix up your every day life at the office and family life. We all need some escapism, don’t we? :)

  • My biggest problem with the switch is that it’s a potato. I really would like to play TOTK at more than 25fps, I’m sure it would make the game feel better than it does. Otherwise it just plays like poo. Some ergonomic controllers that don’t suck would be nice as well, those Hori split pads are actually bad ergonomically and the wake feature they try to sell doesn’t even work (the thing most people buy them for) I guess once an Xbox guy always an Xbox guy.

  • Dude, get a steam deck. You will never look back. You can wirelessly play your ps5 and you can put switch games and basically any other console's games on it to take on the go or play in bed

    @dannyd4339@dannyd4339Ай бұрын
    • Steam Deck is trash compared to Rog Ally or Legion Go. Mine oled steam deck could not run Dragons Dogma 2 while my other Rog and Legion run it pretty well. There are lots of games that the steam deck can't run or have trouble running like indie titles.

      @mosthated8848@mosthated8848Ай бұрын
    • @@mosthated8848 that's a lie. You chose an interesting day to be so hateful but since you wanna go down that road, there are plenty of issues with the legion go and ROG ally. Which is why the steam deck still greatly outsells them. Not to mention that is just a pc in handheld form. Only the steam deck gives you the quote on quote "console experience" now you can keep coping with your purchase and bad decisions, but for non pc people and console fans, the steam deck keeps being the superior option and the best bang for your buck.

  • The Legend of Nayuta: Boundless Trails (Chrono Cross/Reset World) The Legend of Heroes: Trails from Zero The Legend of Heroes: Trails to Azure The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel 1-4 The Legend of Heroes: Trails into Reverie No need to play The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky 1-3 because it is so boring. The female lead is the worst in Trails in the Sky.
