  • Great to have options. At the ~600 pricepoint I might personally take the Polygon Xtrada 5 - no dropper, 2x10 deore, tektro hydraulics. But for a beginner the ability to roll this off the rack - and roll it back in to return if they don't enjoy their first couple rides - is huge. A complete XC trail-worthy build for the price of a Marlin frameset is hard to look down on.

  • I love my axum but honestly feel schwinn is missing the mark on this one. The bike market isnt crazy like before. $550 is just too much for a bike when everything on the bike is noname except the drive train. Take the Canyon grand 5, $50 more and you get a 12 speed deore setup, mt200 hydros, schwalbe tires, suntour fork, other name brand parts. Only thing is no dropper

Very cool, it seems like the Axum is here to stay. However- LOTS of differences from my BLACK / GOLD SPARKLE AXUM!! I don't know if I could fit a 72V battery on that new Axum frame!! The chainstays and the toptube are soo low! Less room for a battery on that Comp X. I got the 228 sale on the black Axum, Man I love that bike. Never pulled the trigger buying anything faster in my life Lol. Got it going almost 46mph. Looking forward to seeing more of these new Axums. Thanks Kev!!

  • So OG Axum $400 + $100 for dropper post inclusion + $48 dollars and we get a nicer derailleur. $100 used to be pretty hard to beat for a dropper but now with the way the bike industry is you can find that sale on a Race Face or such.

  • I thought the external cable routing was great on my Axum DP until I added a motor and battery to it. The little cable channels on the downtube get in the way of the battery mount. I managed to secure it but the bumps sort of deform the mount so the battery is a tight fit when sliding in.

  • Hi i think it would look better if the cables where hidden tight underneath the frame. the frame does look nice but it does seem small with the triangle not wide but narrow. about the cardboard in the wheels some companies do jobs cycling where you get banners and advertise on your bike when riding. so example you can get a disk and advertise example a company as you ride normally. i seen it on sites when looking around but its in US and A country i see it for.

  • This is continued improvement. It's like they're trying to at least keep up with the Ozark Trail. I'm not in the market for another budget MTB, but if I was this would certainly be a contender. I do really hate that Schwinn suspension fork. I hated it on the old Axum and I hated it on the Taff Comp. I would have like to see that same Suntour we see on the Ozark Trail and pretty much every entry level hardtail sold by bike shop brands. I'm perfectly happy with external cable routing and have always found it to be a bit of a gimmick (excepting dropper cables) and more trouble/unnecessary expense than it's worth.

    • The time it takes a novice to do it the first time they will lose fluid which will then require adding and bleeding the lines

      @KevCentral@KevCentral17 күн бұрын
    • @@KevCentral that's a good point. I did bleed the lines. Whether that was necessary is unknown. I'd never even installed hydraulic brakes before, but it was something I knew I was going to do, so I had a bleed kit and fluid on hand ready to go.

  • Full disclosure, i have no bikes with internal routing. However a lifetime of ugly, against the inconvenience of repacement install hassle, guess what side of the equation i fall on. At least until I actually replace internal. lol

  • Great review as always. Schwinn was killing it the past couple of years but…The design of this new frame is horrible. And the price is way too high. You can get a better equipped polygon for cheaper. Especially with how low all bike prices are during the bikepocalypse

  • And not a fan of external cable routing , it looks ugly and in my honest opinion it is mire than likely cheaper for schwinn to use external routing , rather than full internal cable routing

  • Not a huge fan. For the cost of needed upgrades we’d be better off with a Trek right out of the box.

  • Not terribly impressed for the money, but I'm thinking the OT Ridge is a better buy, even with no dropper. I like the Acolyte, the frame looks nice, and yes the dropper is great! However, the junky pressed steel hubs, QR or not, are just a big no. I am really impressed with my most recent find, a Decathlon Rockrider 530S. 120mm travel front and rear full suspension, MT200 hydros, Advent 1x9, and tubeless ready rims. How much? $216! There's even a way to get 10% off that price. I've got a couple videos up on it, but I want to see someone else do a decent review of it.

    • The OT Ridge is still hard to beat for the price point.

  • Makes no sense that they don't have internal AND external routing so you can choose whichever you want. It doesn't cost any extra.

  • Looks like Diamondback Overdrive 29 1, and costs more than Diamondback which is always on sale for less than $500 shipped. For $100 more you can get Canyon 5 MTB in all the sizes and Shimano 10-51T. Unfortunately $548 is way too much in 2024 for this Schwinn with ultra heavy Schwinn coil fork. bottom barrel $3 brakes and no-name wire tires. DP is welcomed, but to be an OK deal it should be priced $399 or less. $350 on sale is the right price for this bike
