    • Not really. We as humans find any sound at night in the woods alone is a possible threat. We created fire or figured it out at least. Wild predators are scared of fire, we are not. In the dark and alone in in a wilderness setting can really scare the shit out of us. Our minds are geared a certain way with blind eyes in the dark and heightened hearing. But what is there in the dark was there during the day. Ergo a fire at night is so comforting in a wilderness situation and a gun really makes you feel better. Bobcats do not attack humans but bears and panthers may. But even a cricket letting loose in the dark next to you is scary.

    • @ajduplahd Skinwalker huh? Someone's been watching a lot of Discovery and Travel Channel. I ain't sayin' there are not Cryptids out there but... as much time as a spend alone in the wild. I have never seen one. Funny thing was one night camping with a subdued fire and covered two groups of "squatch" hunters that never saw metered whooping at each other and knocking on trees. But I do believe there are actual Cryptids out there. I just believe they are smart enough to stay away from idiots. Just like I was with the two groups of Bigfoot Hunters.

  • My cat got out once and crossed the street. I was outside standing under the carport calling my cat. All of a sudden my cat darted past me, right behind him was a bobcat, he stopped chasing my cat and stopped next to me, looked up at me, slowly turned and trotted away. It was at that point I realized what it was. My cat never escaped and went that far again.

    • We live on the eastern edge, of Duluth MN. Sometimes they store rail cars across the street, and leave a gap. For walking trails. One winter morning, I was out in the porch. Looking south toward the rail cars. A bobcat was walking in the gap. I yelled to it. What are you doing here. It turns its head, and started talking cat talk to me. Like a house cat sometimes does. He seemed surprised, and amused, that I'd talk to it. Then turned and walked into the woods, on the south side of the tracks...

    • @JessicaBabeee91 they're usually not aggressive, at least with my experience working on our family ranch. I've come across a mountain lion once, and that made me freeze. At the end of the day, it was an awesome experience after all was said and done. We have quite a few different predators out here, but as long as they don't mess with our cattle I just enjoy seeing watching them. I was watching some deer about a week ago jumping the fence, and there was a coyote that was chasing them down in the middle of the afternoon, which I thought was interesting. Anyway, just my point of view lol. I didn't mean to write a novel.

    • @@assortedanimalsonline Thank you for the info on Bob Cats I really enjoyed this video, mostly because my husband and I own whats called a "PIXIE BOB " which is a hybrid of a domestic cat and a BobCat, gosh we really love this beautiful cat, she is not the warm and fuzzie type of cat, she cannot tolerate being picked up. She had a litter of kittens, my husband and I agreed that we would NOT keep any of them, and I was serious about it, but one of the kittens was solid black with only one quarter sized white under his chin. (now he is the warm fuzzie type, actually a gentle giant, (he is huge,so very sweet) My husband and I have never had a cat until a couple of yrs ago. Three cats were dropped off here at our house (out in the woods it was from the humane society) the one cat was a female and was a "catch and release" with her ear clipped. There was not much we could do but allow her to be with us, and she was terrified of everything she was so traumatized it took a long time before we could even pet her, but she is still with us. We thought she would like to have a cat companion, so when these Pixie Bob kittens became available we got one of the kittens. We absolutely adore her, and her coat is beautiful which is considered the Tuxedo. Anyway, this kitten we got as a companion to the original cat (catch and released cat) This kitten tormented this poor cat, and instead of being a comfort for her, this kitten drove her crazy, and the kitten just wanted to play. Giving this gift to her turned out to do the opposite for her. This poor cat felt displaced. I'm sorry to go on, and on but we are at least maintaining here , and feeding all these cats is not cheap. We only give them wet food once a day, dry food is always available. Do any of you prepare your own cat food?

  • The last one sounded like a bobcat using a rotary pay phone in a booth and dropping it's change. Incidentally bobcats I heard are capable of taking down prey eleven times it's own size. I can believe this because I once saw a "tame" bobcat jumping on someone and it's entire body was at least five feet in the air when it did it's playful jump. Consider that a bobcat and weigh up to ten to twenty pounds and imagine something that size tossing it's twenty pound body at you going for your neck; something is going to get hurt.

  • Someone has pointed out to me one time, that even though bobcats are smaller, they make those really deep growling noises, but meanwhile, a cougar is much bigger and more dangerous, but it makes these little birdlike chirps that don't seem very scary at all. I went up the mountain into the woods one time a few years ago, and I heard a noise that sounded a lot like the very first growl, that very deep, scary sound. It scared the crap out of me, and I was looking all around, in every direction, trying to see where it came from, looking up and down and in the trees, and I never saw a single thing at all.

  • In this part of Arizona, we had a lot of coyotes. But, when the mountain lion shows up, coyote run away. But, when the bobcat comes around, the mountain lion runs off. But, when the road runners come, they all leave. and even hawks stay in the sky. It's always nice when Bobbie the Kitty shows up, tho. I can let the dog out at night without walking with him. Nothing is on the porch roof eyes me.

It sounded like a baby being tortured. We ran in the house screaming. When my dad settled us all down he went outside when he came in he said yep it was a Bobcat. He said it would not bother us if we didn't bother it. Needless to say , we stayed in the house. (example #3)

  • I've been lucky enough to live in area that has many bobcats. I hunt. My wife and I fish. @one fav spot, we often saw bobcats, coming down off mt. to river to drink, snag a meal. Saw one black BC. Saw female w/ kits many times over many years. @ one of my fav hunt spots, there is a huge "nursery" tree, that has been used regularly over past 40 yrs. I've only taken one(1978-32lb male) I don't view them as a problem( such as coyotes, MUCH more dangerous, to game animals and people) so I usually don't bother them, unless/ until they begin to over-populate the area, and threaten the wild turkey population. Hunters are wild-life MANAGEMENT agents, as well as good people.

  • Back in the early ‘90’s, I was about 14 yrs old I was partying with a group of friends in a 5th wheel trailer. The trailer was parked on my friend’s parent’s property, a couple of acres in the desert. The trailer was located a good distance from the main house and it had electricity but no running water. It was late, midnight or so, and after a few drinks I decide to got the bathroom outside behind a bush as we were not allowed to go into the house cuz we would disturb his parents. So I go outside, take 2 steps then freeze because I hear a low cat type growl, it was a mix of the example 1 & 2 together. It stopped me dead in my tracks. A very large cat was standing on top of a dirt mound about 15 feet away from me. I could see that it was some type of huge cat by it’s outline due to the full moon that night. I stopped, then backed up slowly to the door I had just come out of and without turning around, opened the door and quickly went back inside. I don’t know if it was a bobcat or a cougar but it was literally one of the scariest moments of my life. I will never forget it.
