Stig Shift #11 (Aircraft Maintenance Adventures)

EDIT: Ladies and gentlemen, my apologies I made a few mistakes at the beginning of the Video. The engine with the temperature probe is a CFM56-7B. NOT a -5B. (-5B is on airbus aircraft) also second correction the Air Force 737 is a -700. NOT a -300. my apologies on this.
First and foremost I’d like to think every single person over here that has been joining this adventure on every single video. You are the people that are making this happen, and I want to give you the biggest thanks of all for participating on this adventure alongside with me.
I don’t know how long I can keep doing this, but as long as I can keep doing this, I will keep doing this. There’s been a lot of dubious conversations within the comments where people have had very interesting persona, and scrutinizing me for the things I do and the things I show. Regardless of that, I’m only here for you and your education.
I encourage you to ask questions I encourage you to be inquisitive and do your research and come back to me with more questions. I am nothing but a steppingstone for you for your education. I’m only here to help. I want to say thank you and I am humbled by every single one of your comments and your presence within viewership of my videos. From my heart to yours thank you

Maintenance, flight crew, fuelers, catering, dispatch, scheduling, handlers; it takes so many people to get a flight to its destination safely. Thank you for doing what you do, and spreading the word about the importance of our cherished maintenance staff. You rock 🤙

  • As someone who has been interested in Aviation and aerospace technology since I was a child, thank you for making these videos! This kind of perspective is rarely seen, and your passion for what you do really shines through in the things you show us and how you explain them. I really appreciate everything you do, taking whatever opportunity you have to show us fascinating parts of your job. It could be helpful to add a simple disclaimer at the beginning of the videos stating that you are showing a small slice of *many* moving parts and procedures involved in aircraft maintenance, and that it would be impossible to film every single procedure and task. Perhaps something like that will belay the concerns of people in the comments who don't understand how complicated this process can be.

  • Good call on the Lexus. It’s definitely an RX model. However it looks like some self driving type model. Like the Waymo cars. It looks like it has some roof mounted sensors/radar that is wrapped up. Probably a tech demo. The Ferrari is probably some rich dude who wanted his car there for the week and just sending it back.

  • While he is correct about the vortex generator, the way it works is by doing just what the name says. A vortex will stick to the top of the wing in a way that turbulent air won’t, and it has a nice side effect of sucking nearby air into it thus eliminating even more turbulence. It’s most useful during higher angles of attack where the engine especially disturbs the air.

  • The C-32 (B757-200) carries the VP, First Lady, and other individuals at the high cabinet level (Secretary of State, etc). The C-40C (B737-700 BBJ) is a mobile command center. It contains all sorts of classified communications tech and whatnot. I think this is a C-40C, not a C-40B based on the antenna. Either way, someone important is in town. Probably VP, based on the fact that the C-40 was accompanying. The C-32 is only Air Force Two when the VP is onboard. Sometimes, the C-32 will carry POTUS if the VC-25 can't get to the airport POTUS is travelling to.

They are modified B737-700's with fuel tank modifications to carry more fuel as well as UARRSI for in-flight refueling. It has a modified communications suite as well as military communication equipment like SATCOM, TACAN's, etc. They also have the short field operations upgrade kit applied. They also are equipped with a RWR and CMS system in case they are engaged in hostile combat and can get out of the area and defend itself.

The B747 classics also had antennas in the nose gear doors, I also learnt something there. Otherwise, you got a great channel going informing the flying public on what goes on behind the scenes after they go home. A lot of people don’t know that such skilled people exist 😊Thank you ❤ 👍

  • Believe it or not when I worked for Emery worldwide, the mechanics let three of us stay in the belly in the back of the plane while they did a high-power engine, run on the right outboard engine on a DC-8 sadly that same plane crashed two months later here in Sacramento after they lost their COG but the plane was rockin we were in the belly of the plane, cracking up it was crazy.. another wonderful video Stig love it and the c-40’s are 700’s
