    • @David Farley They are cleaner by orders of magnitude, particularly if you trace all the materials back to source. Not only are greentech firms getting more efficient and less polluting as time goes on, petroleum is filthy from drilling to shipping to refining to shipping to pumping to burning, and also requires a lot of electricity. They are not even close.

  • I had to choose between these two cars.. I ended up choosing a 2020 Tesla Model S Long Range for 3 key reasons. 1. Superior range - being new to electric cars I was very concerned about this. 2. Price - not sure why but the Taycan felt way more expensive. 3. Charging network - I knew where super chargers and destination chargers were based on where I worked and I felt I could manage using that without needing a setup in my house and it all worked out.

I have not heard much about what Porsche has been doing or plans to do in this area. I just know many Tesla owners have been pleased with how their vehicle gets some helpful upgrades even years after being bought. Not as smooth as the price would imply. Test drive it in shifting situations before buying as this "feature" may be a long term annoyance as an owner. Also the Tesla is a single speed which is always smooth and it tends to regen engine brake when foot pressure is removed from the accelorator making it easier to than the Taycan in traffic which tends to glide leading to needing to manually brake more often.

  • The Teslas have so many electronic gadgets and convenience features it's mind blowing, but their interior design is awful. I know decluttering is the point but it's so empty and boring in there. You need SOMETHING. If not vents and buttons ok, but better materials and some styling would go a LONG way. At this price point the spartan interior and crap looking plastics are shocking. The purists will always argue for the S because of its performance edge but the fact is you can't really make any use of that much performance on actual roads anyway so the performance delta is meaningless unless you actually intend to race the car. At the end of the day you're going to spend a whole helluva lot more time sitting inside the car than you will racing it and given that fact, the Taycan's much nicer cockpit pretty much makes it a landslide victory if you actually want any luxury, comfort and style. But then again that's just the perspective of someone who hasn't been inside and can't afford either one anyway.

  • Couple of things wrong with this Road Show (and I haven't even seen the entire video yet). So, kudos for even doing the comparison, and giving us geeks something to read on the weekend. You compared the Taycan Turbo S's Range (250-300 real world mi) to the Model S LR's projected 390+ miles. That's not an apples to apples comparison, as the Raven P/Cheetah would be a more apt comparison. Furthermore, we know, Tesla's rarely meet their EPA figures in the real world. By that measure, the Taycan 4S (not even a long range) has achieved 381 real world projected range by You Tuber The Autobahn Specialist. So, you may give the nod to the Tesla if you like. However, the disparities no where near what you mentioned (such as the Next Move's and Car and Driver H2H range test between the two). You compared the The Taycan Turbo S's real world acceleration with Tesla's manuf listing. You did this despite the fact the Top Model S models has not beaten any Taycan Turbo S in H2H's. So, the nod should have went to the Taycan (at worst even). And it really goes to the Taycan when you consider various acceleration runs, and/or duration. That was a careless mistake on your part IMO. You mentioned the Taycan handles better than the Model S. However, the Taycan also has a more comfortable ride and versatile suspension than the Model S as well. That's important to, especially for a car that handles noticeable better than the one it's being compared to. It means, you don't get a trade off as with the Model 3P (harsh ride) or the Model S's more wafting, pillow-like ride when pushed. The Tesla's, only a "luxury" car in price only. It certainly isn't for it's interior or customer service/repair. Unfortunately, I didn't finish the video, and have to run an errand now. But you get the gist. They're both great cars in their own way. However/IMO, the Porsche's the superior vehicle in a multiplicity of ways. Why doesn't Road Show arrange a H2H between the two vehicles?
