In this video i'm restoring a very old vintage post vise.

This is an old post vise lay for a long time in the house that I bought.
As I understood the ex-owner of these Vise was the grandfather of the old owner of my house.
I have no idea what year of production these vices are and where they are made, but i love antique tools and i think very many craftsman have used this vise , so lets give a second life to it.

I just recovered a very similar leg vise this past year from my dads workshop. He passed away at 99....and it was old when I watched him hammer away on it. I'm inspired to restore.. or at least clean it up! :) thank you for that walk down memory lane.
...40 years ago when I was young , this kind of Polonaise vise was the best in our market in the middle east.. now you bring it to life again.. good work 👍👋💯👏

Прыемна сачыць за работай такога майстра! У мяне так сама ёсць у майстэрні такая добрая рэч. У Беларусі такія ціскі звычайна называюць кавальскімі, бо іх ўжывалі ў кузнях кавалі ( кузнецы, значит по-русски :) ). А лупцаваць па гэтых сталёвых цісках можна молатам як заўгодна, без небяспекі сапсаваць, ці разбіць, так, як гэта здараецца з чугуннымі прыладамі такога прызначэння. Добрыя відэа, карысны канал! Мая павага аўтару - ролікі зроблены з густам!

Off the top of my head I can’t remember a better leg vice restoration, a definite 12/10. My one tiny quibble is we couldn’t see what you were welding. Subscribed.

I'm thinking you need to set up a blacksmith shop. The post vise is the only kind strong enough to withstand sustained use in blacksmithing. I was lucky enough to find a vintage one on Ebay complete and in good working condition that weighs 50 kg. It puts any other vise I've ever used to shame.

Leg vices are well designed. Transfer load to the ground and the bench clover (you dont have one) is simply a location feature. You swapped the purposes of each, cant see that lasting heavy blacksmith work. Looks like you had fun and that was entertaining.

nice restoration, but it would be necessary to make the hinge fixing which made the vice hold the workbench, so that it can pivot on its "leg" and in any case it will be better than with clamps, like that it will be full
small correction to what I wrote the model of vice you have is fixed, the fastener is placed under the screw box of the vice, to see what it looks like, just search for blacksmith vice on google picture

Зачем было их сначало бросать на улице и засыпать мусором а затем шлифовать до блеска
вы ничего в тисках не понимаете. Это чтобы у них проявилась фактурная ржавчина. чем боль лежат тем их приятнее реставрировать.

I have a chicken coup and there is no way you would pull something out of it without shit stuck all over it and if it was buried then it would have had a lot more dirt stuck to it. @@meanwhileinthegarage С чего взяли что у вас больше?. У моих вес 40 кг и губы 16 см, больше не бывает.
Сначала отшаманит, потом выкинет туда где они и валялись. В таких тисках нет паралельности поверхности губок при открывании, следовательно зажать надежно в них что либо практически невозможно. Я не диванный эксперт - знаю по своему детскому опыту у моего деда были подобные тиски раза в два поменьше
Прошло почти 3 года с тех пор, а тиски почти ежедневно использую
Ты не в теме, эти тиски кузнечный, у них не параллельные губы, а к верху смыквются, это для лучшего удержания металла, полос или прутков. Зажимаешь и сгибаешь молотком. Кто так пытался делать на чугунных, отламывали переднюю часть. Они для своих целей, обычные для своих, у самого 4 тисков больших и 3 типов!. Использую 3, одни самодельные для тонких работ, вторые станочные для широких деталей, и кузнечные для сгиба или длинных тонких жеоезяк. Короче где то есть на канале
Ак что не диванный эксперт, эти тиски для своих целей, обычные для них не годятся, ещё губы шире основания, можно длинный прут зажать, бить хоть кувалдой. У моих резьба шире чем у станочных 50 кг весом, и толщина резьбы в 2 раза больше. Больше не бывает кузнечный тисков, 90 см с ногой, 40 кг и губы 16 см
Беспощадно взял и уничтожил старинные винтажные тиски , шток и гайку достаточно было промыть керосином и смазать летолом , а тиски сначала протереть промасленной тряпкой , а после протереть чистой тряпкой насухо . Ты превратил красивую брутальную старинную вещь в цыганский новодел , понимаю что очень видимо чесались руки , но зря так изуродовал их . Прости конечно меня за критику , но старинная вещь должна выглядеть соответствующе своему возврату , с сохранением следов времени и духа старины ..
