In High School I had a 1963 Rambler 770 Station Wagon with a 290 V-8. It was an amazing car and was still running strong after 120,000 miles!
That's good to hear - lots of folks love AMC :)
Great job
I had heard the 360 AMC was hard for some builders to get parts for. But MichMo did a super job!
They did - Thanks for checking it out Rusty G :)
Your video was very timely, I was just checking out places to have a a 351C rebuilt. It's good to hear that you liked their work. Thank You!
Glad you enjoyed it Mark - they would do a great job on the Ford -very common engine for them :)
Looks good Jerry. Glad you know a good reputable place
It's going to get harder and harder to find I think - in the future :)
@@LakesideAutobody omg yes
I did enjoy this short video. It’s amazing the damage mice can do!
Thanks for checking it out Mark - rodents can do some damage for sure :)
I see you are not playing around Jerry. You have the heart of the car looking good
I hope the heart gets pumping pretty soon 👍😊
Thanks for another video Jerry!
Thanks for watching - have a great weekend :)
Michigan Motor Exchange - Urine good hands
😁!
Wally Booth would be proud. In about 1970 I was 14 a guy I knew picked me up he was with one of his older brothers friends. They were in a brand new bright blue with white stripes amx with a 390 and a factory four speed . We were in Waterford Michigan. Talk about something else that was it. Left a mark on my mind . Sometimes lightning only strikes once I wish it would have striked twice. I’m a lucky man
You were lucky - what a memory!!! A friend gave me a ride in a death trap Javelin in 1984 - 401/4speed - thought that was it for me - left a mark on my mind too 😒
@@LakesideAutobody the guy that drove that car was on a death wish . Really I didn’t know it when I got in but his friends did he shot himself a couple of weeks later.
Great save!!
👍😊
Very nice save !!
Thanks - they did a good job :)
Wow. Thats some serious damage. Makes the 304 I rebuilt in my cj look easy in comparison. Good job saving a 390💪
Looking forward to hearing it run for sure :)
Wow now that was some mouse carnage..... I done broke some piston free in my time but that was nuts!. Have a great weekend Jerry.
You too MN - always appreciate you checking in :)
Always when storing an engine shove steel wool or lathe shavings in the output of manifolds or headers. I've lost a few good engines to mice. Besides hosing cylinders through the plug hole with oil of choice, you should also figure the best intake preventions you have at your disposal.
Thanks for watching and the tips - I'll keep them in mind RD :)
@@LakesideAutobody you're welcome. Thank you for the great videos. We're all here to learn, in my opinion.
A few tips, . Use a good oem timing chain cover, the after market ones are junk. Look at the timing chain cam gear , oil flows from the front cam bearing through the slot in the gear through the eccentric to the cam gear and oils the distributor gear . Make sure all the slots line up. Use msd gears the Chinese ones wii disintegrate and send metal through the engine.
Thanks for your advice my friend. Hopin' all goes well when put together :)
Hi Jerry: wow, leave it to the little vermin :( can't wait for the next vid. Must be real costly to rebuild an engine these days. You won't have any tires left, you will be riding around on the rims :) Have a great weekend!
Yep - should melt a pair of tires right to the ground. Thanks for checking it out my friend - you have a good weekend too :)
AMCs are a bit of a tricky animal, and from the looks of those valve reliefs, it seems you're planning on making a little power with that one. There are _a lot_ of recommended oiling mods for AMC V8s and I'm hoping your shop did a few of them. It's been a long while since I was nearer to that scene, but back in the day it was becoming impossible to buy a front cover/pump that wasn't just about pure garbage (the Crown cover was particularly hated). Watch your oil pressure like a hawk on any AMC you plan to romp on. If your shop didn't do _any_ of those updates, you may consider looking into some of them before you drop it in the car.
Thanks for the tips - I'll make sure to monitor the pressure - that's a gauge I always look at anyway :)
I watch a lot of revival/will it run videos, and those are the owrst pistons I've ever seen. Wow! Looks like they did a great job. Did they have to sleeve the cylinders or anything?
Yes. They bored 60 over and sleeved the cylinders. Thanks for checking it out Jay :)
How long they had your engine before returning to you.
About a month or two. It was rough though.
