As someone who have seen football in Europe, you're only comparing the gap in regards to the top 5 leagues. In reality, the MLS is between English Championship and English League One football. Remember that, although only friendlies, the MLS have come away with results against the likes of Chelsea, Everton, Borussia Dortmund, Celta Vigo and so on. This doesn't say that MLS clubs are better than those clubs, it does however shows that MLS is capable. Also a reminder that even though Ibrahimovic did well, Chiellini did not. There's actually a majority of ex European football stars that struggled in MLS and only a handful did well. You would know this if you follow MLS enough. Here are some of the names of those who struggled in MLS. Callender is a great goalkeeper, and has singlehandedly saved this Miami team more times than I can recall. Yes, he made a grave error in the opening stages of the game. He's a great goalie nevertheless, and he's still the best Miami has got at the moment.

Experienced this game live, I can finally check "watch Messi at the stadium" of the bucket list. A night to remember. Wish he would have scored his first hat trick in the MLS but he didn't disappoint, two goals and an assist, I witnessed his magic in person and it was as good as always. What else can be said besides GOAT.

He has always been about team effort and accolades understanding that winning games is responsibility of the team and not an individual, and he's always said that his success has been due to his teammates. And that is why I want him to still be on top, like every football fan out there I don't want this to end. It is understandable that Messi is in his last years on a professional level and I wish for him to enjoy as much as he can and to continue making history...like last night where he's become the first player in MLS history to contribute a goal/assist in five consecutive games. This is the kind of reminder that the dream isn't over yet. That we can continue to cheer for Messi and celebrate his achievements and his team's achievements. That he is still capable of outplaying everything that stands in front of him. But knowing it is has a due date, I just want him to continue shining until the very end. And it will be a sad day in football history when it is over.

When Messi was 31, I remember several of the titles of KZhead videos went something like “Messi scores at 31 years 213 days old!” In the U.S., we don’t think that’s old too old for a player (or any athlete) to start deteriorating. In European football, I noticed that many great players retire around 33/34, or transfer to less competitive clubs due to age. I know every sport is different, and injuries are often force players to retire early, especially in very physical sports like soccer or American football. But, if you keep training and adapt as you age-like Messi and Ronaldo (and a shout out to Ibrahimović), there’s no reason to retire. Messi at a 7/8 out of 10 was still the best in the world. We saw it at PSG and now in the MLS. By the way, I know the MLS isn’t exactly the Premier League, but it’s definitely top competitive nowadays. Let me give you a few examples: Tom Brady was playing in the Super Bowl at 44; Lebron James is still one of the best players in the NBA at 38 (he led the Lakers to the playoffs again); the Swiss Federer, in tennis, is over 40 and still winning tournaments. This season we’ve seen Saurez , Busquets, and Alba playing great football despite being older. If athletes retire to spend time with family or are just burnt out after playing everyday since they were a little kid, that’s another matter. All I’m saying is that greatest is possible after the age of 35. Baseball’s Nolan Ryan threw a no-hitter at the age of 42. Babe Ruth and Hank Aaron, and many other baseball players continued hitting homers into their 40s. Thousands of athletes do it. And, as we know, Messi is one of those athletes. I hope Miami wins a league title, and I hope I see Messi in one more World Cup. In 2026, he’ll be 39, and he will be 37 in June. If he remains healthy and his play doesn’t cliff dive in 2 years, which I doubt, he’ll be back there. He’s the GOAT. I don’t understand why that wasn’t settled years ago, regardless of winning a World Cup. He’s just better, a far more versatile player than Ronaldo…period.
