I've been saying it, and I will continue to do so... Rudolph isn't bad, not great by any means, but not bad even for a starter. Neither Rudolph or Ben has had it easy with a dysfunctional offense. We need to make Rudolph the starter for at least one season while building up that O-line. Mason is a decent QB that won't brake the cap. One thing I like about him that most people don't mention is his tenacity.

Been saying it every post. Mason is not the QB whose going to take us to the Superbowl. However, he is all we need going into the 2022 season. This is the year that he should prove himself. Let him play and see where things go. Spend the money elsewhere to build up the lines. Next years draft is LOADED with QB's.

I know everyone wants a QB drafted. Personally I want the Steelers to roll with Rudolph. He’s good enough to win Pittsburgh some games. Use the cap space and draft capital we have to stack the team around him. Then next year there’s a DEEP quarterback class coming out. I’d draft a guy then.
Me too. Use the picks to stack the team. I’d personally love to see quality o line and d line drafted. The offense can be centered around Najee Harris for another 2 years. Personally, I would rather see that than the steelers try to replace Ben hastily and lose picks with a bust QB- or even if they got a great QB, say like Aaron Rodgers, I don’t know if I would want that so soon after Ben retired because I don’t want his retirement to be quickly overshadowed by another HOF who’s career was with another team. Anyway, sounds weird, but it’s my way of saying I miss Ben and would really love to see a stacked defense and a great run game then go all in on a QB so soon.
it would be a huge mistake if they dont go for oline its not an attractive pick but the steelers have talent in skill positions already, the steelers had mason graded as a late first round pick which compared to some of the QBs in the draft id say is quite comparable. 2019 mason was thrown into the fire unknowingly and has a couple incidents which id say is an unfair way to grade him, that entire team had no idea what to do without 7 at the helm.

@@Tarquin37 it had nothing to do with the defense giving up over 200 yards rushing or Pat Friemuth fumbling during a successful OT drive on the lions own 38 yard line? If I’m not mistaken, Rudolf led an opening TD drive which was one of the only ones the Steelers had the entire season. Give him an o line and the green light as the starter and I think he will surprise you. I don’t want to see us so eager to replace Ben that we lose high picks on a bust. Think of the first round QBs that turn out to be busts. There’s a lot of teams that wish they could have those picks back and invest in safer positions during the draft.

We have been spoiled with Ben Roethlisberger. Quarterbacks with his talent don't come around often. I think that Mason Rudolph has the potential to be a great Quarterback. He needs to get more game experience as a starter and good coaching. If the Steelers put him in that spot and give him the tools to be successful who knows what he could develop into. Troy Aikman for example had a very rough rookie season but, once he developed "WOW" need I say more. Im not saying Mason Rudolph is comparable to Troy Aikman but, maybe he potentially could be. Ben was good from the start but, after he got good coaching and game experience he was incredible. But, the Steelers organization has to be willing to devote some resources and more importantly time into Rudolph and I don't know if they are willing to do that.

Reportedly Ben and Mason have no relationship. Started off poorly from the moment Mason was drafted. Ben said he didn’t see how Mason could help the Steelers immediately, and basically said he would have rather had someone else picked. Then Mason said in an interview “It’s not Ben Roethlisberger’s job to teach me.” Which then that got misconstrued and twisted by the media. I don’t even think Mason wished Ben well when Ben retired. 🤷🏻♂️

I always loved the duo with Washington and Rudolph. I was so happy that the from office made the decision to get them both to keep them together because they already had so much talent and a strong bond. Last 4 years have been borrowed time almost wasted with big Ben's decline. But maybe good cushion of time for development for Mason so he would be ready for the right moment. We only got a sample of Mason but in the worst-case scenario situations. Now let's build up the lines and line backers and let's be a strong running offense and deep ball like we've always been when Ben's arm was still strong and healthy.

I’d like to see what he can do with a full offseason and training camp with the focus on him. Haskins could back him up or they could pick someone up for a backup QB spot. If you take his last 4 starts and Ave them out to a season, he'd have been a top 7qb last yr. The last 4 starts were vs playoff teams. And no, I'm not taking the pre-season.

@@infectedMustard He started and played pretty well, then the concussion, then a couple bad games, then the helmet to the head, then the Jets game and the knee injury. It wasn't really consistent and his first NFL action. I think he would have led them to the playoffs if he didn't get injured against the Jets. I just think he should get a legitimate shot and bringing in any available FA or trade target would either cost them too much or not be a significant upgrade to 2.

He’s made for a completely different system.
