    • @Clem Fandango - Rot! Gael does not mean Irish. A Gael is a member of Gaelic speaking communities from Ireland, Scotland AND the IOM. The song is 100% Scottish, composed in 1990 by a Scot for the opening of the Loch Ness Visitor Centre, and in his own words "The monster in the loch goes way back to ancient Gaelic myths of seahorses (kelpies), and to write this little tune, I imagined a Gaelic community on the banks of Loch Ness". Can't get more Scottish than the composer, Kelpies and Loch Ness. It cracks me up when I read of Irish and Irish Americans waxing lyrical about how it reminds them of Ireland. Ignorance truly is bliss!

He was commissioned by The Loch Ness Monster Society for this song in the late 1980s, and I am in LOVE with the original version.... because it's so ominous and foreboding with the tones of the Loch Ness Monster at the beginning, and then it feels like Nessie comes up to hear the music playing, when Dougie's solo comes in!!

    • Sorry to burst your bubble a bit but if you ( and all your ancestors ) are from Northern Italy then you are probably not Celtic .Our ancestors hugged the coast from (present day Italy ) between Ventimiglia and Nice in France. The pyramids around Falicon may be Celtic and certainly some of the stone work was Celtic . Eventually they crossed into Spain. Settled in Galicia and then went on to Brittany and the British Isles. The best of the Celts settled in Northern Wales whence my ancestors hail LOL But seriously the DNA trail does not lie. The myths and legends unfortunately do.

    • @EM Study DNA EM. The DNA trail disproves everything you "think" you know.

      @JohnJones-ct9pr@JohnJones-ct9pr3 жыл бұрын
    • @EM lol You really are confused. DNA is everything. The Celts never "arrived" in Northern Italy or Switzerland. There is ( contested ) evidence of a Celtic language in Northern Italy in the Cisalpine region. But the thing to remember is that all people traded across regions. The Viking traded as far as Baghdad and Russia. And the Romans traded in the Yemen. But the migratory route of the Celts is as I have stated. My DNA comes from the North of Wales. My great great grandfather spoke only enough English to take part in Church services and pay his tithes and taxes. DNA is expressed in phenotypes. The most salient phenotype expression among Celts is their appetite for risk. Swiss and Italians are notoriously risk averse. The Portuguese and the Spaniards ( Iberians ) were the earliest explorers. The British followed them and even the most intrepid French explorers like Samuel de Champlain were from Brittany ( Bretons ). The only other people in history with an appetite for that amount of risk were the Dutch. And that may have been as a result of environmental factors living in a small dangerous environment surrounded by hostile enemies on all fronts. These days " cultural appropriation is a dirty word for some stupid reason. Historically there were never ever any such qualms. So the people in the Swiss and Northern Italian regions adopted Celtic customs , dress and art in much the same way as Britons adopted Roman culture and customs. This did not make them any more "Roman" than doing the same made central European tribes "Celtic". The Celts originated in Scythia and ended up on the western fringes of Europe and the Iberian Peninsula. The Portuguese are way more Celtic than the Swiss. And the Spanish even more so. And the Bretons even more so. Do you see where this is going ?.
