Audi Newbury visit, Marshall's have updated their policy to not allow filming from public of their building or cars AND no drones !! A customer challenges us and then... POLICE turn up !!!!
The police officer was out of her depth and uneducated on this one. She was seduced by some formal words on a meaningless bit of paper.
They can't act using common sense. They are looking for something they can latch onto and if it's in writing she thinks she can rely on it.
Less seduced by her Station formal words policy on informing working camera.
The cop is a cheeky moo!
And they wonder why there is no public communications
She just wanted the situation to de-escalate so that she could get her lunch .
Why the hell is a police officer trying to enforce a company policy in clear violation of the law? British policing is an absolute disgrace. No wonder that the police are utterly loathed.

@@Freddyinthesheddy I can see both points of view to be honest. Sure most people don't go around with a camera or a drone, but I'm certain that he's not after a negative response... In fact both DJE Media and DJ Audits in my opinion are some of the best 'auditors' (for want of a better word) for entirely that reason. They want a positive reaction, and make the best out of those reactions. It's only when a company tries to enforce rules upon the general public that they attempt to prove their point. That's what it's all about, acting freely within the bounds of the law.

So for example, if you was in a supermarket and some bloke came up to you and started filming your 3 year old and you questioned him on why he was filming your child erm would you be ok with a reply of who are you !!! Yes or No. ? I know my reaction would be most likely to get me arrested. He has no right to assume he can do as he wants based on his idea to hide behind the law and stretch the rules and try to push it to the limit. If he had an ounce of respect for the staff he would have said, is it ok if i take some pics, lets be honest its dodgy behaviour.

Red top woman - is typical of the worst kind of Audi driver - no consideration for others. (most Audi drivers are fine but a proportion of them do leave me shaking my head) Slaphead Audi salesman: how petty?!! Terrible way to represent the brand. Police breaking GDPR law by NOT informing you they were filming you and therefore gathering data on you. And excusing their unlawful behaviour on the basis that DJE as a private individual was filming them. I disagree completely with DJE saying it wasn't slaphead's fault. The commandant at Auschwitz was just following orders. I personally would take great delight in ignoring the orders of people above me if they were clearly unethical. Trying to interfere with the lawful and harmless activities of someone on a pavement is clearly unethical.
GDPR is in the EU. We have DPA here. Not having a go at you , it just makes me laugh when people like managers/security etc think 'GDPR' makes them sound important !

In fairness, I think the Police had just turned up to buy lunch, and didn’t originally know what was happening. But having become involved, the PC was more interested in trying to smooth things over, than clarifying and setting out the legalities. Clearly, Marshall’s policy of no drones and no filming from public is unenforceable, as both of these activities are lawful for members of the public.

Law enforcement officers are Officers who are employed for the purpose of "enforcing the law" (hence the title!), and are not required, or even authorized, to enforce private policies!

My daughter has a range of Audi's as company cars but after I show her this she will change brand for sure. I know for a fact that virtually ALL car dealerships for ALL makes including Marshalls regularly have people filming in them as the manufacturers pay third parties to audit them in the form of mystery shoppers. I can also name several of the companies that employ people to carry out these audits. I've never heard such B.S. 😂

The manager guy made a reasonable point that is lawfully enforceable. If he's flying his drone up to the windows he very likely is impinging on the right to privacy of those on the inside, that could be construed as a breach of the peace.

GDPR REQUIRES them to inform you. They are breaking the law by not telling you they are recording your personal data. If you're going to audit, read out what it says in the police handbook and have the blackbest barrister video clip on hand if necessary
They know what's in the policy, they just choose to gloss over the covert filming they do ,or just say "whoops", I forgot to tell you of the recording, it's amazing how many cops develop amnesia ( temporarily) whilst covertly recording you .
