State Capitol Dome - one of the best spots to get a panoramic view of the city.
The Colorado State Capitol Dome was first gold-leafed in 1908. It has been re-guilded several times since then including the most recent restoration. The Dome re-opened last month after a lengthy renovation that included scaffolding place on the Capitol’s roof and Dome for the first time ever. The Dome is one of the best spots in Denver to get a panoramic view of the city. The Mr. Brown’s Attic and Dome Observation Deck Tour is free but you do need to make reservations. The Dome is gold because of the important role gold and mining played in Colorado’s history and statehood. All of the gold used on the Dome was mined in Colorado. It took 64 ounces of gold to cover the Dome.
