Then you can pick your strain at a pharmacy and have it sent to your house. This is quite similar to how California went through on their way to full legalization.

  • Why was hemp illegal in the US? - Because the Hemp plant grow fast and cheap and you can make paper out of the plant what annoyed the wood industry. You can make clothing, fabric from the plant and that annoys the cotton industry. You can make sails and ropes for boats that are salt water resistance and cheap and that annoys (in combination with fabric) Dupont who wanted to sell their synthetic materials. And because the prohibition just ended and all the Agends from the Drug and Alcohols Department / FBI / whatever Agency was involved in hunting the Alcoholimporters, drinkers and manufacturers needed some new task or they would lose their job. Same reason why they didn't forbid it under the english name hemp but the devilish foreign spanish name Mariuana/Cannabis

It was not only selling bongs, pipes and blunts, but also drinks and snacks with hemp in it, clothes and fabric accessoires made from hemp, etc. And all of that was legal, because the hemp was from male plants and hence with no effect whatsoever, and the sale of TOOLS for drugs is in fact also legal, as long as you don't sell the drugs themselves or instructions where to get them. Thinking about it, that store must have an all time high sells right now lol.

  • To answer the main rules for Cannabis in Germany: - You can own up to 50g somewhere locked in your home (only 25g if you're between 18-25 years old) - You can carry up to 25g in your pcokets while walking down the street. - You have to stay away 100 meters form Schools and Playgrounds while smoking it. - You can have up to 3 plants simultaneous (if you produce more than 50g you have to destroy what's too much) - You aren't allowed to give your stuff to someone else - Buying and selling it is still illegal, you are supposed to join a club (growing community) with max. 500 members where you can get up 25g a day and 50g a month. But aren't allowed to smoke inside or in a range 100 meters around the Club (only 25g if you're between 18-25 years old) In the future you'll be able to buy it in certified stores, just like in the Netherlands. Medical cannabis was already legal for some years and with a good Doctor you could get a prescription, but the stuff costs roughly twice as much as you'd pay on the street .... the THC levels of the mediacl stff are out of this world tho. Side note: ATM you smell less Weed in the streets than before the legalisation.

    • You have to stay out of line of sight from the entrance to the school or playground. That can be even less than 100 meters, depending on the actual place. However, it it is more than 100 meters it counts as "out of sight" even if technically you are still visible. At least that's how the law is written. How they enforce it, may be a different matter. Only time will tell. Of course it should go without saying that you don't blaze in front of kids...

  • Bavaria is the strictest state in Germany. Bavaria has now trained a new police force to take action against people who have more than 25g of cannabis or who are under 18. You can go to prison for up to 5 years without a chance of reinforcement. Smoking is also prohibited within 100m of playgrounds, daycare centers, kindergartens, etc. That's funny because in Bavaria you can just buy a crate of beer and sit on the playground bench and drink the entire crate in front of all the children. And not just beer, we can do that with any alcohol. It gets even funnier because it's not a misdemeanor if you pull a line of cocaine that was laid to you by someone else, even in front of children.

And there are coffeeshops ( thats what they call places where they sell marihuana) in a lot of cities, towns and villages. To me its kind of similar to drinking alcohol but in a smoke form. • my god, "comparable to alcohol". What a trigger.

    @Korbin0815@Korbin0815Ай бұрын
    • Triggers me too. Here in germany there exists different terms between you have to distinguish. One is "Rauschgift" (drugs), another one is "Rauschmittel" (intoxicants) and last "Genussmittel" (stimulants). Heroin, Cocain, LSD e.g. are considered as "Rauschgifte" due to their toxicity for the human body. On the other hand Cannabis falls into the categorie of "Rauschmittel" because it makes you "a high feeling" without being toxic. (which doesn´t mean it´s completly harmless, just because you can´t die from consumption) Then there are substances, such as alcohol and nicotine, which, strictly speaking, should actually also fall into the category of "Rauschgift", because they are, chemically speaking, neurotoxins. But...Since alcohol and nicotine are socially accepted, they are referred to as "Genussmittel", because it doesn't sound so negative, i assume. So imo alcohol is not comparable with cannabis, except the fact that both have an intoxicating effect, which, however, is not comparable in terms of effect.

  • Very interesting reaction. Throughout the video you commented how much you wonder about US influence towards prohibition. In fact in the treaty after ww1 Germany did under supervision of the US, Germany was forced by the US to enforce the prohibition within a few months or face a war declaration. Until then drugs had been a huge aspect of German culture. That's one reason why Germany invented Heroin, Crystal Meth, LSD etc. The fact that we don't legalize fully is bound to EU laws (which have been influenced by the US as well) and the mentioned treaty, which is theoretically still valid. Overall, that the world is allowed to make steps to legalize is caused by the late changes in the US. Your observation towards that is historically evident and correct.

Even though I don't smoke weed (tried it, but it just isn't my thing), I think some actual rules are way better than this "illegal, but barely enforced crap" other countries do. This gives us a clear definition of what is right and what's wrong, so as a law abiding citizen you get an idea of what you can and cannot do. The numbers themselves can and probably will cause a lot of discussion, but at least they are a clearer and more scientific system than whether or not a cop thinks you're a dealer or not

A full legalisation must follow to regulate legal production, selling and with it taxation. The problem is, that the EU law must be changed, to make this happen. Selling drugs through the state/companies/public is prohibited in EU law (iirc), so that must change, to sell it legally in Germany. We could use a far more environmentally friendly, more durable and locally produced clothes instead of cotton grown with poison somwhere in the South. But that is not possible if it's basically illegal to plant the plant even if you could technically get a license for it. There is just too much struggle all around for a demand and supply environment to grow. I looked about 10 years ago and could find two shops, and every pant was above 100€. Unfortunately the new rules aren't much better for that purpose.

But to get a fiber out of a plant it needs much more than just the plant. In both cases, hemp and nettle, the labor and cost are just not worth it economically. Even though nettle has so much use (shampoo, soap, food, tea, fertilizer, bug repellent, fabric dye) compared to hemp, so yeah.

  • So the basic idea is that you can get up to 25g a day and up to 50g per month from a social club. These clubs are for resitents only to prevent cannabis tourism. Later this year the clubs will get growing licenses and begin production (somewhere in july so the first legal harvest comes somewhere this winter) but so far you can only grow 3 plants by yourself. Therefore many people expect the black market to boom since a plug may walk around with 25g at him and sell it illegally because if no officer sees it happen the bought weed is legally in the buyers ownership. The decriminalization shall be our first step and the government already holds plans to make shops a thing and really face the black market. Consumption is limited by the age of 18 plus clubs aren't allowed to hand out more then 30g a month and stronger then 10% THC unless you're of at least 21 years. Also an addiction to cannabis is possible but not propable. There are no known cases of physical addiction mit a mental addiction in rare cases seems to appear.

However, since we are in the information age, the alcohol industry no longer has the power it had about 30 years ago, but the governments have the biggest problem with their own production, because they can't tax it. For now, you need to grow it yourself... kind of... technically, once you possess it, it doesn't matter how you acquired it. Additionally, the law is applied retroactively. This means that if you cultivated it in a manner that is now deemed legal but was not when you initially did so, it is also considered fully legal. They even released people from jail because their actions are no longer deemed criminal. Note that while you can legally smoke in public, heavy fines are imposed if you smoke near children or buildings designated for children, such as schools.

However, in the original analysis and an updated version (Figure 4), mapping data relevant to the policy changes in Table 3, no simple association could be found between legal changes and the prevalence of cannabis use." (EMCDDA 2023, p. 24) That's what the European Monitoring Centre for Drugs and Drug Addiction (EMCDDA) started to investigate in 2011 and since then it has been validated by studies around the world. From a psychological point of view, illegal drug use is associated with criminality which leads to the projection that drug users are criminals. And criminals have to be dealt with by the law. The problem behind this is that there is no evaluation in such a system, in fact it becomes harder to get to facts when there are legal consequences and laws tend to become stricter. That is a simple and easy to use mechanism for politicians. But it comes at a high cost.
