LASH ROUTINE (How to curl straight, stubborn lashes)
Leave a 👋 if you are also part of the straight eyelash club! The right curling technique can make even the most straight, downward pointing lashes like mine look long and gorgeous so I wanted to share an updated lash routine for maximizing short, straight lashes and keeping them curled ALL DAY. Especially if you have monolids, the top lid tends to push that lash down so if you are in that boat, I GOTCHU! Leave me a comment letting me know what kind of eyelids you have!!!

I haven't seen you in about 10years and you haven't aged a day!!!
I purchased my Shiseido curler long ago because of you, one of the best purchases ☺️
It’s been a very “buy it for life” kind of purchase! So worth the initial cost
Love your vids Jen!! I’ve been watching your channel for years and you still look as fabulous as ever!
You were one of my first make up videos I saw on KZhead. I have been following you ever since. You are amazing! Your tutorials are simple to follow and you always take your time getting to the point. I love how you teach! Thank you for doing such great work.
Just tried this technique today and it totally worked awesome. I think focusing on each "corner " of the eye was a really good tip. I use that mascara too!
I’ve loved your mascara 101 video ever since you uploaded it! Always went back to it whenever I struggled with my own Asian lashes. So happy to see this new updated one! Thanks so much Jen! ❤️ I can’t wait to try out these products and tips!
That video is... I don’t even know how many years old! So I thought this would be a good one to update. 😘 By the way, I feel like there are so many other good mascaras that have come out in the market since then too!
nice ❣ you've been so family focused, been missing your makeup videos ❣💕 tyyyyy
This is my eyelash routine too! One thing I would add is that, depending on the humidity of your climate, your lashes may be too 'damp' to hold a curl. In order for a lash curler to work well, your lashes must be as dry as possible, void of moisture or oils from creams, etc. I suggest giving them a little dusting of setting powder or neutral powder eyeshadow before curling - your mascara will hide any powdery residue. You can also use your heated eyelash curler to 'dry' your lashes before curling. Also that little bit of extra heat helps to hold the curl when I go in with my squeeze-y curler. I agree with Jen - the heated lash curler alone is not quite enough.
I have had so many problems where my lashes won't stay curled so this was super helpful for my Asian downward facing lashes
This is a great video with very detailed tips! Thank you, Jen!
Thanks so much Jen! These are fantastic!
Jen, thanks for another great video. I’ve been watching your channel for years and every WP mascara I’ve tried from your recommendations has been awesome for my short Asian lashes.
You're so welcome and thank you for watching for so many years 🥺 If you haven't tried this one out you DEFINITELY should!!! It's amazing and pretty much won my last mascara showdown video!
Interesting tips! I'm going to try them. I previously tried a heated lash curler, as well as heating my regular lash curler with a blow dryer and with both methods found that the heat damages the lashes and causes breakage if you use it frequently. My lashes aren't super long but they aren't short. I actually gave up curling my lashes at all and noticed that my lashes grew much longer... Probably because you aren't messing with them as much. Also I found that using waterproof mascara formulas also dry out my lashes.
👏Wonderful that you addressed this issue! Bravo! It took me year’s and your manual recommendation is spot on. Another phenomenon product is the Hot Lash eyelash curler. The plug in is better then the battery. Great job!
She is glowing!
I actually know how to put on my mascara & curl it, yet I watched it because I love your video content, your tone and pronunciation.. It’s soothing 💖
I have this combo of curler and mascara. They are amazing on strainght lashes. Been using shisheido curler for years, nothing can replace this product 😍
You are such a genuine
I have that same mascara introduced to me two years ago from my sister and love it too! 🥰
These were fantastic tips! I tried out the curling technique and worked so well for my short lashes!!
Yessss! So glad you had success with the technique!!!
Finally learnt how to curl my lashes thanks to you ! 😍
Jen looks young foreverrr💕
Thanks for making this video! Going to try this and see how it goes.
Subscribed to you ten years ago and started my make up journey! Lashes is the ONE thing I still struggle today. I have the same lashes as yours and I can’t tell you how helpful this video is! THANK YOU!!
You’re so welcome!!! Getting the lashes right can totally MAKE a look, especially when you have less makeup on. Try it out and let me know how it went or if you have any other questions!
@@frmheadtotoe 100% With Covid im now full-time remote. Lashes and eyebrows are pretty much the only thing I do now. I love you and I will always pray for you as you and ben raises two cuties together!
Thanks for sharing, it is such a useful tutorial 😘
A lash serum changed my life! Made my natural lashes grow so much! 😍
I’ve had my cheap gold daiso curler for a decade and only had to change the squishy pad once! And believe me it’s is verrrry well loved and works great.
Thank you for this! My lashes are pretty long but downward pointing too:’( Latisse also helps!
That’s so true! I tried latisse before and it made my lashes look SO nice!! Unfortunately my skin is prone to pigmentation and I started getting dark circles so it doesn’t work for me long term but I miss those luscious lashes 👍
@@frmheadtotoe can you do a review/pros and cons of latisse?
@@frmheadtotoe Another tip is to soak the eyelash curler in very *warm water* (but not hot enough to hurt your skin).
Oh my godness thank you SO much for an incredible tutorial. I have straight lashes that point into my eyeballs. They are so straight that even lash lift procedures won't hold them for longer than about three weeks. I decided to give the lash lift a rest but I despair about trying to lift them. I am really looking forward to trying the double technique and hopefully having lashes that at least stay up while I have mascara on. Thank you so much.
Thank you so much for this video! My lids are monolid and hooded as well and I've p much just given up on doing my eyelashes, but this makes me want to experiment again!
Oh my gosh I was searching for your channel yesterday but, couldn’t remember the name and today you have showed up in my recommendations!!!
my short stubborn straight downward pointing lashes are the reason I’m too lazy to do mascara 😂 you manage to work it SO well!! thank you for the tips!
Thanks for sharing this ❤ i have short stubby lashes too
thanks for the tips! i have asian short lashes and never knew i can lift up to curl my lashes! tried shiseido n the normal shu uemura but it just cant catch my lashes! recently discovered the shu uemura S curler and it worked! need to be extremely patient though 😄
Could you maybe do a video on eyebrows? Whenever I try to do mine, the pencil looks chalky and weird :(( much love! 💕
You have the most perfect eyebrows!
Thank you sooo much for this!! I have insanely long eyelashes but couldn't for the life of me figure out how to get them to curl! They're so straight I can't stand it! I didn't know how to use am eyelash curler properly until you just showed me so I gave up using mine lol. I'm going to give it another shot now! And I just ordered a mascara guard as well! Can't wait to put it all to the test! 🙌🏼🙌🏼
Hi I've also got short straight eyelashes so will give it a go!! please can you do more videos on fashion as well as beauty, hair too. miss those ! thanks x
Thank you for all the advice for short stubby lashes.I have those kind of lashes.
Love to see different eyeliner looks
I totally want to do this!!!
Pls do a Korean eyeliner style look!
I also love using a hair dryer on the curler for 10 seconds and it helps mine hold the curl
Thanks for the tips! I love your brow shape--how do you get them so perfect? What products do you use for the brow color?
Thank you thank you! I’m not Asian, but my eyelashes are pretty much nonexistent. They are super light, short, and point downward. I do all this great makeup on the rest of my face, but no matter how much mascara I lather on, it doesn’t look like I’ve done anything! Plus, since my lashes grow downward, the massive amount of mascara I put on irritates my eyes and I end up with bloodshot eyes. I’m older than you. A lot of the problem stems from eyelash curlers ripping out my lashes. So I’ve stopped using them. I couldn’t even get the curler to grab all my lashes. 😕 I’m glad to know there a different shapes. Thank you for showing how to use your eyelash curler so it grabs all the lashes!!!!!!
Thanks for sharing your tips! Eyelash perms work wonders. Downside is the cost and only last a couple months.
Hi! I love your look here! What lip products did you use? Thank you!
This was a great video
Omg what are you wearing on your lips? sooo pretty
Would you recommend the shu uemura or shiseido lash curler? And how often do you need to replace the curler pads
Also in the short lash club! One thing that really really helps is to blow hot air onto the lash curler! It's a little hot at first, but it makes my lashes stay up for so long!! Would definitely recommend :)
Yeah!! I love this method too!!! v useful trick
Its quite amazing that this tutorial came up coz i was searching for heating eyelash curler just yday and wasnt sure if it was worth it or not 😲
I definitely enjoy having one in my arsenal but it’s not 100% necessary for everyday use! Little tip: take the battery out when it’s not in use so it doesn’t die out as fast!
Super great for asian eyes. thank you!
Lifted and gifted 😘
Thank you for this. I have never had luck with lash curlers. I have one and decided to try again while watching you and I think I had more success than I ever have. I haven’t added mascara as I am about to go to bed. I wear glasses and my lashes stick straight out which touch my glasses very annoying. Now to see how long the curl stays . Also I still have to perfect it as It still seems my lashes want to stick straight out. I don’t have a heated lash curler, do you worry your lashes could burn off with it?
Thanks for your informative videos! Can you do a nude lipsticks for yellow undertones? There are no videos out there on this! Thank you!
Wow, 10 yrs ago when i was in highschool i search video for monolids makeup and found her video. She still be same, no different in the video now. And video very useful for whose had monolid 🥰
Great tip pushing down.
This has even helpful. I am Caucasian with hooded eyes and similar eyelashes to yourself. I have yet to find a curler that works for me, but I am currently trying out the ‘half’ size version. I could never get the hand of a guard (mine looks just like yours) And I just want to tell you what an engaging personality you have. I am glad to have found you, purely by chance, and have subscribed.
How about a video for super easy, everyday daytime smoky eyes? Thanks!!
Shu Umera curler is amazing
I use the “eyelash blow dryer” from Korean brand. Apparently it’s better for your lashes since it lets warm air to blow dry your eyelashes instead of using direct heat. Big fan of your videos!! I struggled with my monolids too
Ooh do you have a link to this?
Can you do an eye lash curler review that is best for flat asian eyes. I heard innisfree is good too
I’ve watched a similar video from you 10 years ago. Thank you for sharing again!! God bless you for sharing how to combat short stubby lashes.
You have beautiful eyes, but are just straight up beautiful in general. 🥰
Omg I really needed this tutorial! Gave up lash extensions and have been trying to figure out how to live without them again with my stubborn and straight lashes...
Going lash-extension free after having them for so long is liberating in its own way! My eyes didn’t feel as heavy, didn’t have to worry about water or oil cleansers getting on them, plus it gave my natural lashes a chance to grow stronger and thicker again. I hope the video helps you feel more confident in your natural lash curling skills!
This is so helpful! Thank you for this. I have hooded eyes and have more long and defined lashes than the average asian eyes, but I have a hard time getting my lashes to hold their curl. Can you do a in depth video on how to put on eye liner?
If you scroll through her old videos, she has ones on how to do eyeliner!
Hi Thank you,so much for the tips , Where can I get the Heroine Make long and Curl Mascara and the heat eyelash curler in hk? Can I find them in SASA? thanks
I’m Asian and also adopted...I was just given my mom’s curler which I’ve noticed is quite big and round and was always hard to use for me...I will def try an Asian brand
okay, just have to say you and your eyes look really exotic and gorgeous before you do anything to them! (and I totally get it that you want a different look sometimes). Just wanted to say I was struck by how lovely you looked before you even did anything to them 🙂;-)
Do you find that asian mascaras hold a curl better than american drugstore mascaras? I feel like with mascaras like L’oreal or Maybelline (waterproof), I have to wait for a new tube to be semi dried out for it to hold my curl.
if you use your hairdryer on your eyelash curler and use it when it's warm, it's like curling your hair and it works much better and stays longer!
Ooh! Never thought to try this before. Great idea!
Im asian and have smaller eyes myself, the shiesiedo Ive used for a while but never liked it because its too wide. I got a Chanel curler and its more narrow and its GREAT!
Your lipstick name please ? ❤❣️
Do you replace the rubber pads from the same brand or just the generic ones?
I’ve tried generic replacements and they were just never the same. Lesson learned, I buy the same brand because the pads fit all the way to the edges which is so important for not getting weird crimps and missed lashes!
Have you ever considered lash lift? Helps skip the curling part. I go straight to mascara and it’s been a game changer! Saves me so much time
What’s the mascara called??
After this I’m so confused as to what I was thinking before This makes so much more sense lol
Whats the number of the curler? 🥰
Uh any clue as to why it hurts my eyes go pump my Shiseido eyelash curler?? What am I doing wrong?? Why does it hurt?? 😭😭
A trick i use is to hold a business card on my eyelid when applying mascara. This protects from trying mascara on my eyelid and you don’t need to buy a special guard for it.
I was using a cheap eyelash curler from the drugstore last week, and literally it went off the pad and chopped off half my lashes on one eye which really hurt since like ripped it out of my eyelid or something. Now I’m terrified of the clamp style lash curlers and I bought a heated one to use by itself. I have short Asian lashes so you can’t see half of it’s missing anyway, but I’ll probably wear falsies now since it looks so sad and bare
Ugh I have been there and I’m so sorry!!! 😫 the good thing is that lash life cycles are pretty short so hopefully they will come back without too much struggle. Thank goodness for easy access to false lashes 😌
As a fellow Asian (Pakistani) with downward eyelashes. Yes I'm a guy btw 🤣 my eyelashes are quite long and cause they droop down I think it ruins my eyes. So thank you for this. I've never used a eyelash curler so 🎉 whoop
😩 asian lashes. I hate mine so much hahaha ! Thanks for that video !
my mom is half asian, and literally the only asian feature i got was my straight downwards lashes 😐 but, my mom decides to not pass down the no sweat and no body odor gene, mk 😪 hopefully your tutorial helps!!!
What did you use for your brows here?
I’m using Goofproof brow pencil in shade #3
any asians can recommend cheap eyelash curlers for asian eye? the elf one is good, wondering about daiso or other asian brands?
Shiseido does have a drugstore version of their curlers, but I usually buy them when I’m in Taiwan visiting my in laws. Maybe check Amazon or yesstyle? Yesstyle probably would have good cheap eyelash curlers that could achieve similar results.
Shiseido has nickel, which I am allergic too 😢
My eyelash problem is no matter what waterproof mascara I get, it starts smearing under my eye 😭 i have really folded monolids so you hardly see it after you curl it and the smearing issue... Not sure if anyone else has a solution other than false lashes lol... I pretty much stopped wearing mascara years ago
try the loreal telescopic mascara in waterproof! only mascara that has worked for me.
@@bonjourbui thank you!! I'll def try it!
@@bonjourbui this is literally the mascara I’m wearing right now! It’s really fantastic for US brand!!!
I had the same issue and stopped using mascara altogether until I tried Etude house mascara. Has not smudged for me 👌
I recomend you the size up mascara waterproof from Sephora ,i had the same problem as you and this mascara doesnt smear under the eyes 🙂
You're lucky you still have lower lashes. Lol I gave up on mine a long time ago.
Even if you don’t have much as far as lower lashes go, you can try using a waterproof liquid eyeliner pen to lightly dot along the line to give it fullness without mascara 👍
@@frmheadtotoe thanks for the good tip. I'm a mom too, hardly have time to do all the detailed makeup. Lol
How to Remove it?😭
👋
👋👋👋
My eyelashes are naturally curled but they're short 😅😅
Alguien mas vino por la pelicula de netflix?
Yo XD
I'M LOVING THE SEDUCTIVE VIBE WE ARE GETTING FROM THIS LOOK. IS IT THE EYEBROWS?? IS IT THE EYES?? TELL ME FRIENDS
HAHAHA slaying me!!! I think maybe it's the uncomfortably close feeling of curling lashes in HD. It really ups the tension 😏
Use a spoon!!!
Rip ur dog cherry :c
The ONLY way I can curl my lashes is to do it with mascara on.
👋
