I can't even begin to describe how incredible this hunt was. This is hands down the best yard I've ever detected in my life! Thanks for watching and enjoy!
English detectorist here. I've dug up hammered coins around 800 years old. I've dug up 2 gold coins which are 200 years old. Yet watching you lot across the pond dig up awesome shiny silvers like that just makes me happy on a different level. Your coins come up looking fantastic!
The USA has limited potential for coins more than 400 6rs old and those are largely in the Northeastern area.
Back in 1973 a co worker bought a detector. The first place he went was his yard. This is in Pasadena Ca. His home was I’m guessing built around 1922. He hit the jack pot finding 3 baby food jars full of silver dollars. It’s something I always think of when metal detecting come up.
What I love most about this video, is how genuinely excited these two are.
The Silver finds were great, but seeing you dig up that perfect yard was golden!
One of the best and most enjoyable "Treasure' videos, I've seen in a long time. No pumped up hype or self promotion, just a very interesting window into a young treasure hunter's adventure. The excitement was contagious! A cool side note, was the demeanor of both of you guys...excited but respectful of the property owner's turf. Careful cutting with your trowel and replacing topsoil is important and helps all of us to keep our honorable pastime beyond reproach. Thanks for the video...hope you do some more!
I echo your sentiment!!! That was incredulous!
I started metal detecting in 1971, and over the years have found many interesting and sometimes puzzling objects. I have found silver, gold, bronze, copper, zinc and other metals that coins, jewelry and other objects can be made of. The oldest coin I found is 1700 years old (a Roman bronze) and the oldest object is 3000 years old (a small section of a bronze sword). Having said all that, I will now address those commenters who say that (1) silver coin dug out of the ground don't come out shiny or that (2) no one can find that many silver coins in one location. (1) Yes they do. Most silver coins or jewelry come out of the ground shiny. Although as another commenter mentioned, the type and or condition of the soil can stain silver. (2) Yes he can. I have detected locations like that more than once over the years. It often takes a lot of research and a lot more luck to find such a good location, but it can be done. Another thing, unless one of the coins he recovered is very rare, I doubt that there is even $50 worth of value there. As another person commented, those coins are probably only worth the value of the silver content. But, the value of our finds is not why we love detecting.
Dinodas Bunce dang amazing story im starting to like metal detecting.
In nebraska and kansas silver comes out of the ground tarnished. When you see coin after coin "dug" and they all look like cleaned coins, you start to have doubts.
Really! Not everyone is in it just for the "money." I've been a coin collector off and on since I was just a kid in 1964 or so and it's NEVER been about the money. For some of us the coins are just wonderful in themselves. Although when the mints started to go with presidential faces, the pretty much took most of the wonder out of the coins for me. I have found that the coin detecting has re-ignited my interest!
I have lot's of doubts about all these video's. They have to find stuff to get watchers and money, some guys just find too much to be true.
@@mikecipriani7792 perhaps you havent stumbled onto a really good spot yet or just havent gotten good at detecting. Dont try to find fault in this kids ability and luck to hit a good site
Absolutely one of the best silver videos I've seen in awhile. Wow you were truly blessed with this permission. Bringing your roommate to try his luck on such an epic hunt truly shows the type of person you are. He will remember that silver the rest of his life. Congrats on the gorgeous half. Thanks for sharing and take care.
Thanks for the kind words my friend! This yard was definitely a dream come true. Just goes to show how much is still out there! HH, Zach
what permission?
Great finds, lads, and mostly in such good condition! I hope the landowner let you keep them. Whoever lost that 1/2 dollar at 5 minutes in must have been very sorry; that was a fair little bit of money back then.
12:19 that actually made my day, seeing that guy so genuinely exited.
What a bountiful yard, really amazing, silver galore. People who do not participate in this hobby have no idea how difficult & rare it is to find a yard like this. Enjoy my man!
Thanks John! So very true, I think a lot of people who watched this and don’t detect don’t understand how special of a yard this was. Once in a lifetime territory for sure!
@@GreatOutdoorsDetecting I imagine the people who owned the lovely house probably had lots of garden parties and their were lots of rich people dropping there money around the lawn
I've been Metal Detecting for more than40 years. I've found a lot of Beautiful Old Coins, but I think that 1877 Seated Liberty Half is one of the NICEST USA Coins I've ever seen recovered. Congratulations Young Man!
Thank you! That means a lot coming from someone as experienced as yourself!
Lol. His passion for what he's doing is really fun to watch. Just having a genuinely good time.
Glad you enjoyed!
The detail in that seated half was just amazing!
That would fetch him good money if he wants to sell it
excellent yard! been doing this as a hobby for 15 years, keep up the hunting! detecting in the old south is by far the most exciting
Thanks for stopping by man!
Very cool that you shared this yard with your Buddy. Nice
Second or third time I’ve watched this hunt. Such an incredible yard, tremendous finds.
Friend of mine found an 1855 Australian half sovereign near his gate. It was nearly new. This is the rarest date. It ended up with a collector at a bit over 100k. Thats the best coin find ive seen.
Can't even speak right now!! You were blessed beyond measure buddy!! Congrats!!
Thanks Jeff! Hopefully we can find another yard like it when you come out here!
Watching u two did my heart proud remind me of my sons and lil brother congratulations love videos like this
Well edited and good commentary....I'm a great fan of showing where the item is found and then a still picture of the item cleaned up , then a description of the item. And your enthusiasm is contagious....😁👍🏻🇦🇺
Thanks Michael! I appreciate it man
WOW! Epic, Awesome hunt, what a yard!
Thanks man! I appreciate it
Thank you
Love how well he treats his finds.
This is a dream yard of all time! Unbelievable. I'm commenting as I watch!
Great finds! That CC was made 17 miles from me 100 years before I graduated HS. So it is ultra cool to me.
Be thankful that someone had holes in their pockets and no wife to fix em!!! Great vid love to see treasure no matter how big or small!
Thanks! Yeah I wish I could know how all of those coins got there especially the seated half!
The so-called treasure videos bring back some mixed memories. In the '80s, I was laid-off work and so I used to metal detect in places like parks, beaches, and yards hoping to supplement my unemployment compensation. I found cheap watches and costume jewelry and a whole lot of rusty bottle caps and cans, not much else. But the coins I did find never amounted to much that would even pay for the cost of my metal detector. As a hobby it was fun and my wife got excited about it too (and quickly lost interest). Today, however, if anybody is thinking of getting rich from metal detecting it's pure fantasy or pure luck if you do find something of REAL value like gold jewelry and rare coins. But if you want to become a hunter, get an accurate metal detector that says if it's a coin, jewelry or artifact. Location is key too. Good luck hunting though!
Yea I imagine so, anything in life worth a shit is hard to find. But for someone on the outside looking in, I've never searched for coins, but just the simple idea of uncovering things from the past that "could" have value is very enticing. That and the story you could have for each item you've uncovered. You can look at them years down the road and remember what it was like to find them, the excitement. Like my first arrowhead I found, it's not worth much, but for me it's priceless because of the story I have attached to it. It's like a process of creating memorable moments.
@@0ptimal it sure is! I love the hobby!
Are you still using your metal detector? I hope so it’s a fantastic hobby
For the history, not the money! 🗝
EPIC Indeed!!! We all dream of yards like that. That Seated half was in Awesome condition!!! Congrats on ALL your great finds!!
Thanks Don!! It blows my mind that nobody hit that house before, it looks so good. Can't wait to see the video from your Iowa hunt, you killed it!
My next door neighbors house was built in 1783, we should check the yard. Your excitement is infectious.
You can just picture the era! I LOVE this stuff !!
Really enjoyed your video! Your presentation is excellent! . Years ago, a friend and I went metal detecting. Our favorite location was an old park in the center of a small town. We had some excellent finds , too. Lots of old and valuable coins. Also, rings, tokens, and tiny old artifacts! Love you and your viewers.
You're killing me with the rubbing of those silvers.
I was happy that he found that half. But hes scratching them like its worthless metel. Man when he rubbed that half. My phone fell of my hand. Hopefully it didnt break.
Exactly
So much silver in one dream yard! That front lawn must have been well-used over the years. And I'm guessing there was not much trash or iron, either? What a thrill, man! I would have been shaking just like you. Old silver will do that! Congrats!!!
Thanks man! Yeah I can only imagine the social gatherings and events that took place in that front yard back in the day. It's such a grand old house. I'm shocked nobody hit it before, most of the other houses I've tried in this town never had much. Thanks for watching and HH! Zach
Woha! How exciting? That first Seated was a Beauty... You have to be thrilled!
I've watched this video probably 10 times and it never gets old!
Thanks man! That means a lot to hear that!
I glad you didnt give up when you pulled that nail and miss that epic seated. Congrats, beautiful coin!
Thanks Mike! The signal was so consistent I knew that nail couldn’t have been the target
This makes me want to dug up my entire yard and house lol Good find bro
Amazingly good stuff! Glad Kyle got in on it, stunning first silver! Congratulations guys. Thanks so much for sharing! 👍
Thank you! Yeah it was fun to see his excitement. He doesn't even metal detect, he just wanted to experience finding a silver coin and boy did he. HH! Zach
I was hoping to find a silver, and oh boy, did i ever 😂
@@kylewilshusen9898 lol, you don't do things "halfway", my friend! 😆
this right here is amazing. best single yard of silver i have ever seen
Beautiful Half Dollar! I'm so jealous about how beautiful it came out! Gotta love those silvers because they come out looking brand new.
Thanks man!
dude your the coolest guy i ever seen, i wish all our younger gen would be as you are, im very proud of you and i know your parents are, great vid man
Thanks so much man! I appreciate the kind words
Congrats on your finds! I like how you went from "this is a quarter signal" on the half to "this is a half or quarter signal" on the next high tone. A true MDist optimism. Thanks for taking me along on the hunt!
Thanks man! Glad you enjoyed, will be sure to bring you along for some more hunts!
Its hard to believe that house hasn't been hit yet. You are so lucky. Around here in Greensboro all the nice big old houses like that always seem to have already been hit. Congrats.
You should always double check a yard even if it's been hit before a person can always miss some ground no matter how thorough you think u are. Ask the home owners if u can do their yards again
AMAZING!!. I can't figure out why there would be any thumbs down on this since there is nothing but amazing finds and great commentary throughout the video. It was a blast watching this. Congrats.
Thanks!
Other than the fact that I’m dying mentally inside with him rubbing the coin. Scratches the hell out of them
Dude, that first Seated half! What amazing shape it is in! Major congrats on an old virgin yard and some epic finds! I almost jumped out of my skin when you told him to just rub that CC quarter. Ahhhh! Use water! What an amazing yard.
Thanks man! It blows my mind that nobody hunted it before! It looks so good. May never see a yard like that again, although I sure hope I do! Thanks for watching!
Rubbing the dirt off did feel kind of wrong... but the reveal!! What a great first silver
Patience paid off. Nice!!!! Kyle beat me to a seated and I have dug hundreds of silver coins. Very jealous!!!
Thanks man! Hope you can get your seated! You deserve it, you've been in the community for a long time. I was watching one of Dr. Tones videos from years ago and saw your comment on it
Wow, nice catch! I do have 1700s Spanish silver so not too unlucky :)
Thanks! Now i have to find a merc, an indian...the stuff people usually find before a seated dime
What a ride. 😊 Thanks for your awesome video, my adrenaline is running. Treasure hunting at its best. 💜
Hey thanks Shane! I'm actually working on another video of this house. My buddy Jim and I hunted it again yesterday and found a huge silver spill at it. Video should be dropping in the next twelve hours!
Subscribed with notifications on. Tis the search that drives us, the finds,
- only feeds our desire to keep doing it. Feeling your delight all the way over here in Australia. 😊
Oh my goodness Zach I am speechless! Amazing coins! Congrats buddy!
Thanks Wes! I was speechless too by the end of the whole thing. Never seen anything like this in my life!
Hearing the excitement in their voices is great. The "New Guy" finds an 1875 Seated quarter ~ definitely a bucket list coin for most, I(t was the room mates FIRST SILVER. I used to have what I call Dumb Luck. I do not have that anymore. Excellent Video in my opinion, keep digging men!
Thanks man!! Glad you enjoyed and HH! Zach
I got the same i found 1875 quarts seated do u got an idea of value,i found it in a couch an i stay in new zealand
CONGRATS KYLE!!!! First silver ever.....CC seated. Wow amazing. Congrats!!
5280 Adventures Thank you very much! I doubt i could ever top that find
It's still out there Old homes that were busy with activity and people around, that big stump could have provided shade and a roadside shop or an convince stand could been there Old houses with history. Even could have been a place where kids were gathering That's awesome. I wish I had done that as a youth
Your excitement and passion for this is awesome. I always wonder how these coins got into the yard. Especially the 1/2 dollars. That was a lot of money back then to just lose.
I would have loved to see a shot at the end with everything you found.
I absolutely love your enthusiasm!!!
Good hunt! One thing to remember is rubbing the dirt across the coin might scratch it decreasing its value. Best to carry a spray bottle of water.😁
Wow! What a great yard! Congrats to you both and what a coin to find for your first silver!
Thanks Troy! This was an experience I will always remember. I wonder if my roommate is the first person ever to find an 1876cc seated dime as his first seated!
Incredible yard! What a beauty that half is, congratulations man!
Thanks Jason!! Will never forget this yard, that's for sure
Thanks for leaving such a thoughtful comment man! I enjoy reading ones like this, I'm glad to have inspired you to want to try detecting! I will say this was a really rare yard and I wouldn't expect to start finding stuff like this right off the bat. Takes time but if you love the adventure of getting out there this hobby will never get old to you. HH! Zach
There's another coin on it's edge to the right of the Washington, great vid congrats, i'm even shaking.
@@GreatOutdoorsDetecting You should never rub coins with sand because it is the same as wiping sandpaper on them. Take a one to three gallon bucket of water you dip them in and shake it off the dirt instead.
Agreed that seated half was majestic 140 years old and looked to be at least vf!
Great job . Love to see you younger detectorists out enjoying the hunt. Keep it up. Thanks for the video
That yard is a dream come through...great video Zach
Thanks Dillon! It blows my mind that nobody hunted it before, it's such a grand old house.
Hey Down South! I have been at it since 1972 & NEVER had ANY DAYS like this! What a blessing for you & your hunt bud! I'm so happy that you were able to vid the experience. Question: did you think to go back & hunt that honey hole for 5 cent pieces & gold???? If you do, based on my suggestion - you owe me a 5 cent piece!
Thanks Clay! This yard was truly a blessing. I went back to it several times to clean out all the signals. I probably spent around 8 hours in total hunting it
What a nice opportunity; glad you were able to make the most of it!!
Some poor paper boy lost those dimes in the 40's
Put the mud one away and clean them later or are you that much of a girl oh oh I got a seated just dig and shut up no wonder it gets dark fast you talk to much
Jeff Leblanc tf
Rich teens or twenties wrestling or playing football probably dropped it
@@jeffleblanc8850 you are an asshole
@@jeffleblanc8850 hey jackass, no one is forcing you to watch these videos.
Back before our coins were CRAP! I love those old coins, absolutely beautiful ❤
Decades of history.. I try to imagine the generations of people who dropped those coins.. very cool.. congrats on some great finds.
Wow man! That seated half is amazing! Nice job and thanks for sharing! What an incredible place!
Thanks man! It's crazy to me that nobody hit that house before, it looks so good. It's so thrilling to hit virgin ground.
@@GreatOutdoorsDetecting do you have to ask permission from the owners to search or can you just go detect wherever? dumb question probably
Amazing hunt! Congratulations on the fantastic finds from that virgin site. That kind of yard is every metal detectorist's dream. There are a lot of them still out there but we just have to hustle up the permissions and put in the hours. -Jay
Thanks Jay! That's right, this yard just goes to show how much is still out there if we can find it
What an epic find with that seated half! My hands would be shaking to. Congratulations man
Truly amazing. The permission we all dream of. Seated half tremendous. GL HH.
Just subbed you.
Thanks man! It blows my mind that nobody hit this yard before. And thanks for subbing! I appreciate it. HH, Zach
Excellent job men... God smiled and blessed you at this location. Very COOL
Thank you! Yes He did!
With so many coins being dug up in the yard, makes me wonder what was there before that house.
That house was built in the 1800's
Frank Wilson bank?
@@jimtheboless8011 probably a saloon or something like that. You would know if it was a bank.
@@frankwilson726 He said it was built in 1893, so yeah, one does wonder what was there before.
A brothel. That's what I'm going with anyways 😄
Wow! What a great yard!! Congratulations!
Thanks Michele!
That's a dream yard! way to go!
Thanks man!
EPIC hunt for sure! I loved your reaction of pure excitement! This is what its all about. Super congratulations man!
Thanks man! It blows my mind nobody hit this house before. It's like the juiciest house in town and all the other houses I've tried in this town never had much.
Quite the epic yard! Congrats!
Thanks Zach!
Just love the condition of these coins. Such beauties. I used to have a pretty nice collection. Till someone broke in & stole it back in 1980. Face value was over $2000.00. Had coins from late 1700's to 1970's.
So much silver! Great video!
Everytime he ran his fingers across that 1877 seated with the mud and water I kept yelling your scratching it,your scratching it .
Now I'm scared to watch it lollol. I read comments before videos to see opinions
It drives me crazy watching folks rub a coin they just dug. I know you get hyped and don't really think about it, but you'll always regret scratching the hell out of it later.
@@Okiedude5 To save time and wear on their fingers they could just get a dremel tool with a 80 grit sandpaper reamer.
@@cedcampbell47012 I was going to suggest a battery-operated belt sander for the silver coins.
Seems every detector group does this too... I don't get it. They been doing it for so long and still scratch the shit out of the coins
💗TY for posting this amazing adventure, it inspires us beginners in metal detecting (just got my husb one for Father's Day 😃)!
Thanks for watching!
Love the channel, man! Looks like a lot of fun.
Wow, what an awesome yard, great range of silver there, love your channel, thanks for sharing all the awesome finds!
Great finds my friend and hello from Brazil. May I state that you have to start using a spray bottle. Just a small one they sell them at Walmart or Walgrens. You will need one that pumps. Because you are using a lot of water being spent. I do not know how many bottles of water you carry with you, but using the spray bottle gives the water a jet propulsion so that it blows the dirt away faster and that equals less of your time moving it with your fingers and possibly scratching the coins. Just a thought.
And a good one at that!
A small toothbrush along with that spray bottle will work wonders, too.
It always fascinates me to see how much dirt has accumulated on top of the coins.
I've watched this episode before and may have already commented on it. But that seated half is just totally EPIC! Wow! I love watching it multiple times. Better than most TV, Netflix, Amazon, Hulu, or whatever. What a nerd I am, but oh well. The seated liberty coins are my favorite American coins! That half dollar would be enough, but THEN the 1876 CC dime!! OMG, what a show! and then the 1875!! Do they give Emmys for Amazing Coin Hunting Shows? This was better than so many shows I've sat through. Of course no zombies, no exposed brains, no clones, no murders . . . just fun stuff for me! LOL:)
Thanks man that means a lot to hear that! This is still the most amazing yard I’ve ever hunted
Congrats man. That is the yard we all dream of. Thanks for sharing and keep the videos coming .
Thanks Michael, will do!
Awesome permission. That seated half was just amazing
Thanks man! Thought it would be years before I found one especially in that condition
Wow i just love your adventure hunting , and because of you sharing your adventure i went out and purchased a awsome detecter , Hopefully it performes like yours ,lol Good job hunting God bless you with more and greater finds Onward thru the fog (or grass)
Kid, you picked the right yard!!! Unbeleiveable - the tonnage you pulled out of there!!!
I know right! May never see a yard like that again but I sure hope I do!
Nice finds bud, definitely the best hunts in old yards, and for the people saying it’s pretty much a seeded hunt, sit down and shut up. I do have to add at 6:26 I think you rolled another coin you didn’t show. Happy hunting
Far out bud that spot is a dream spot. Seated half,,,,,,,,,, speechless.
Thanks for stopping by man!
Sweet. Was waiting for "The home owners took all my finds." That would be my luck. Dig all those coins and bucket listers and then have them taken. Congrats on the seated half.
Yeah. On this house it helped that the owner doesn't actually live in the house, he wasn't around most of the time. I got lucky getting this permission because I caught him mowing the lawn
@@GreatOutdoorsDetecting He should've got a metal detector and look for himself, lol.
Fantastic dig!! Great video.
Thanks Terry!
Wow! I am just blown away by that yard! So happy for you and glad to see there are still some places around that can make some dreams come true. I hope to find one some day!
That’s some sweeet finds!!! Congrats
Thanks David! Always gonna remember this yard, that's for sure!
Absolutely fascinating! Congratulations on an amazing find, bud! Happy for you!
Thanks Jeff!
Iam a big fan of yours from germany
So many great coins from one garden well done man
Thanks man!
Hi, just a comment on your incredible finds, and I'm not gonna scream at ya, like people have screamed at me, but since you had such high expectations for silver for this yard, you mighta had a small spritzer bottle and at least a small broken off soft tooth brush to clean the coins with you! I now carry both of them. Got the broken toothbrush idea from Brad at GMMD. Rob Love the green patina's on IHP's
What an incredible yard man! Huge congrats on those seated coins, especially that half!
Thanks man! Blows my mind that nobody hit it before! It's such a great looking yard.
The oldest coin I’ve found detecting was a 1978 penny. Look at this guy!
My GOSH THAT HALF IS GORGEOUS!!!!! Kyle's first silver is a CC SEATED!!! - that's crazy good luck!!! Great video, Fantastic permission Zach! Best wishes my friend!
Thanks Chris!! This yard was definitely a dream come true!!
Thanks man! I probably won’t ever dig another one of those in my life lol. This coin is definitely something I’ll treasure for the rest of my life
Congrats Zach! That was truly an epic yard. The seated half has a great patina. I love it when they are toned like that. Well done and thanks for sharing.
Thanks Dave! Yeah the toning on it is great, I'm glad I sprayed it off because it helped preserve it better. Smaller and newer silver I don't mind rubbing as much but big old silvers deserve a spray.
Congratulations. ( : so happy for you 👍🏼 you hit the jackpot!
Thanks Leah!! Stay tuned for a new video coming out tomorrow!
Incredible find. But I wonder how those coins came to be deposited there, especially so widespread in such a scattered pattern? And the wide ranging dates on those coins really adds to mystery. Maybe there was a carnival at that site at one time... with people constantly digging coins out of their pockets and losing a few in the process. Nice find though. Last time i searched a yard like that, all i found was sprinkler heads. The homeowner was not amused. 😶
Wow....that is one of the best digs i have ever seen online or anywhere. I bet there is a lot more there. Congrats!
Thanks Dean! I appreciate it. This was hands down my best dig ever
Great finds! Keep up the good work, and God bless! 🤘🏻👍🏻
