kzhead.info/sun/abioYteXa4ypYJ8/bejne.html Imagine being a diamond replicator as a job. Ferb I know what we are doing for the rest of our life.

I love him.. never wanted a diamond but I want one of his..
The fact that he explains the purpose of his art with an unfaceted sample of a non-precious mineral shows he is 100% passionate and committed to his art, not just the glamour of cut gemstones.
I love seeing passionate people who are good at their jobs.
Facts
This Obsessed series reminds me a lot of my aunt, who makes tiny knitted garments. She's very good at what she does and has gotten a lot of media attention for it. She actually made Coraline's sweater for Coraline.
Thats so cool!
Aww...that sounds lovely. 😘
So cool
Think of the people that we don’t have amazing obsessions.
John is actually the uncle of one of my best friends. I hope I can meet him someday, my friend's family is so amazingly kind and fun.

i love people who do incredibly niche jobs but are absolute masters at it, and are just full of passion
Well, this guy is amazing. Love his dedication towards perfection
This guy’s drawing plans and sketches are the type of thing I would love to have in a book print
I likked the comparison to flowers, followed by opposing their beauty as ephemeral versus long-lasting

I wish I had this amount of talent and passion about anything.
I wish I had a quarter of the amount of talent and passion (plus the times, means and money) to do the things I love. My problem is there are so very many things that interest me and that I'd love to do. At least I can say I'm never bored or short of things to do!
You've just got to find your thing. In your own good time :)
Same here....I haven't found my passion yet...I am 60 already..😢
This gentleman is a genius! It is always great to see those who put so much love and effort into what they do that they end up creating master pieces such as these replicas. Great job Mr!

He gives such a positive vibe
Seems like making a replica is difficult than making the original
You are totally right! We had to replicate paintings in art school and it was so incredibly difficult because when you create something you don't have to worry that much about the colours or the composition, but when you copy an already existing painting.. You have to pay attention to everything! I can only imagine how hard it must be with diamonds

This mans enthusiasm for his craft is totally infectious
This guy needs his own channel. Id watch the heck out of it.
I absolutely love him and his talent. I can’t imagine ever being so precise about anything. I only wish someone else had filmed or edited the video of the stones themselves. None of those closeup clips captured their beauty in the slightest, especially at the end when describing their beauty. 🤦🏼♀️
his lisp is adorable
Right? I was thinking how a lisp somehow always makes you sound young
I didn't realize that those old big stones are cut so irregularly.
That chrysocolla sample is stunning. Not only is it a very large one, the richness of the color is exceptional. Common pieces, small enough to fit in your palm, would go for $30 to $40 and have an irregular texture. I wouldn't even dare to try and put a price on the one shown here. It's surely 4 figures or more.
He has (or used to have) his own KZhead channel. I remember it because I used to watch it all the time. I remember him saying that he paid $30,000 for that piece
@@thelonelyghosts9004 Thanks. I would totally watch that channel if it can be found.
I think I might’ve just missed it, but… what does he make his replicas out of? I mean, yeah, he first takes a resin mold, but that‘s just for reference. But the end product? Synthetic diamond? Cubic zirconia? I can‘t imagine there are real diamonds in a fitting size and colour available to make a replica of one of the greats…
He uses Chrystals, mentions in the first 2 mins. Hope it helps.
@@manendraviper but… WHAT crystals? Both synthetic diamond and cubic zirconia are crystals, as well as dozens of other precious stones. “Crystals” is as specific as if you’re asking someone what they drive, and they answer “a car”.
I think it's his secret formula.
@@manendraviper yeah he uses CRYTALS - the word is plural meaning he uses many different crystals that fit the criteria for the diamonds he wants to recreate and he also said that the color and the ways that crystal look is important (basically he uses different kinds of crystals )
@@Runoratsu plural fam he doesn't just reproduce diamonds
Plot twist: this guy perfectly replicates the gem and swaps them to sell on the black market.
I don't mind if it's made of a billion dollar diamond or it's just a piece of glass. The cuts are beautiful and intricately done, regardless of the material used. His craft is amazing and the results are so stunning and lovely.
He's that one unsuspecting partner in a heist movie that's not too athletic but is an expert at replicating anything
I have a lap machine and have been polishing stones, just semi precious. Cabochons. I've been fascinated (pun intended) with precious gem cutting. Maybe someday I will learn.
I wish I knew him he seems so chill and he’s so talented!
Your passion is contagious.
I cut gems and would like to know if he sells his faceting diagrams? I would love to attempt to reproduce some famous gems but the diagrams are simply not available.
This guy creating masterpiece
Why not? The whole gem industry is all about owning a piece of rock nobody else has.
Would love to see a series with this dude an the people he meets
Absolutely incredible!
I don't see the value in diamonds at all. Most people wouldn't know the difference just looking at them. Maybe its the smugness of having something of perceived value.
They’re super rare? Also each cut diamond is a piece of art? What’s the point in art then? It’s essentially just paint on canvas?
@@miriammeenattoor2952 yep, just like each piece of cut glass is a piece of art, but much cheaper than diamonds and yet look the same.
@@miriammeenattoor2952 They're not rare so much as regulated to create that illusion.
@@gun10ck I agree with you on that, however I still think that at least a little credit must be given to the artisans who spend the time crafting them.
@@miriammeenattoor2952 most definitely. At least you can see some value in that, but often I don't think I'm looking at $60k

Hi
"Precision" must be your middle name!
I must admit I've never been very interested in gems. But to see this person and their passion for trying to perfectly replicate someone is absolutely something I can respect.
Plot twist he keeps all the diamonds he gives them the replicas
It's already perfect but I take it and make my version of perfect. Wow. Wisdom for life there.
Love this ep
facinating. thank you.

I'm super curious about why he decides to wear the stones on the jewelery that he wears
Really passionate interview.... anyone know the track playing in the background around 6:46 ?
I need this guy just in case I gotta get that ring on her finger.. *but again, I must not get caught with anyone with a diamond tester*
Smart smart
Meh, real diamonds are overrated! If someone proposed to me, I'd want an opal, doesn't even have to be a real or fancy one, the artificially grown ones are gorgeous. I'm marrying the person, not the stone.
@@Lewisiaisoutofcontext facts at the end of the day a diamond ring is just like any other ordinary ring
9 min of this man talking about his passion cool btwn i liked his passsion :)
I am wondering what material Mr. John Hatleberg used for cloning the Hope diamond in all its sizes? Does the material he works with change depending depending on the famous gemstone he is cloning? Diamond vs Sapphire for example.
What material are the replicas made of?
Love this guy..
whew chile, the math 🧠
Nsr...🙄my first thought.
He's amazing
What a neat guy!
Anybody know that piano piece that started at 5:22?
Just a $5000 faceting machine...and a $120 plus copper lap shown Lol. It's awesome this guy is able to replicate these cuts so well. I am a noob in the gem world , I love fancy color sapphire like parti multicolor sapphires and fancy tanzanite colors best... really want to try cutting . My profile picture is a rough 3.8 CT Australian blue on teal . It is sitting on a white paper cone ,on a flashlight. I LOVE how the color of the light turns that color blue when the beam passes through it. It's what I call "led blue" because it is the same color as blue led when lit up . Getting them cut is problematic . I trust the cutter but not the mail or parcel services...soon. one way or another this and it's friends will be meet point faceted with extremely high final polish. How long did it take to learn to be able to replicate famous diamonds accurately?
This guy is class
Dude, I want to know you. You have awesome creative energy.
Insane
I would love to have some of the diamonds I cut replicated
Amazing person
i love him
whats the jazzy intro music pl0x ?
This music reminds me of Rob Jobs 5:21
There sure is something for everything and everyone. Theoretically, we shouldn't be fighting each other for anything but..
What is the purpose of these replicas? Did I miss the part where they say what they are used for?
Bet his wife and kids are really proud.
Wife? 😂 I don’t think so
I really want to order a custom gem off of him lol

this guy diamonds
I assume it's a little museum theater. Things vulnerable to theft of high value never go on display instead they keep it in a vault and use high quality replicas.
he got the forehead of what i picture a jeweler to have.
At 6:00 you can see his hands shaking. I hope it is not permanent, and if so how is he doing his job so well!?
Might just be anxiety about the filmed interview.
okay now do it with opal
This dude's hilarious
didn't really get many close ups of the diamonds
The video started off with 2 diamonds that do not look alike 🤔
I have no idea what he just said but cool! 😂😂
I kinda wanna ask if he proposed with a replica 😅😂
Cool
how much?????
I just know he did a couple diamond heist switch aroos
"slows the light down" yeah, not that anyone would notice, but nice marketing speak
I mean... it does though? A diamond has a refractive index of 2.4, so light travels through it at 125000 kps instead of 300000 kps through vacuum. Thing is, everything but vacuum slows light down a little, it's just that most of what humans care about otherwise is air, and the index of refraction for that is 1.0003, so not much different than vacuum (and our basis of comparison, anyways).
I like those magazines like nunez thoo who have those funny storis
So that's how people without smartphones spend their time. Fascinating.
Just think amazing rubix cubes and amazing mazes y nunez
HELLO JOHN!
LoL what if he just sell one and they just believe it's real 🤣
Do you sell replicas?
He literally said he does commission pieces
He is not making replica diamonds, just resin with same size and shape?
No he is
Like for example his hope diamond also glows red in the dark
He casts the original in resin, then uses the cast to measure the angles of the facets, then facets a replica out of CZ or similar.
I dont wsnt.. scarves with those jems either
Adam Sandler looks different here.
This is so impressive, its probably a con-artists wet dream.
