  • Another situation was at European Games between C.Popov and M.Caljouw in quarterfinals. In the end of 3rd set, Mark makes a flick serve after Christo showing he was ready. Christo starts yelling he wasn't ready, right before seeing the shuttle goes out. And suddenly changes his mind and beg for the point at the umpire. These situations are crazy and players should be more punished with at least yellow card for misconduct. In the match with Antonsen, he has being annoying many times on the receive before getting a card. The more players don't get punished for such behavior, the more we will see this happen. Would be sad for opponents and sad for spectators.

    • The only reason for the sideway or circular motion of server's racquet is to distract the receiver. This is not the intent of serving in badminton. I always thought service in badminton is either racquet stationary or racquet move in continuous forward motion prior to serving. I notice viktor axelson also move his racquet left and right prior to serving. If BWF doesn't fix this shenanigan, i can see this loophole ti get worst, like i can rotate my top side of body left and right like dancing before serving the shuttle. It demans badminton. I'm calling BWF, to fix this farce. No other racquet sports (tennis, squash, ping pong) have tigzig motion before serving. It has to be one continuous motion.

  • Serves like the one at 5:50 really need to be cracked down on, and I don't know why service judges keep letting them happen. A forward motion is supposed to be considered the start of the serve, so any additional backswings are supposed to be considered a double motion. All of this rule-skirting gamesmanship around the serve is detracting from the rest of the game, and it's terrible for viewership. Chirag Shetty is another frequent offender, along with many other players. If this is where the service game is shifting, it's going to make the game less fun both to play and watch. Nobody likes having to make such a production out of serving, and nobody likes being on the receiving end either. It's also not fun to watch. Terrible for the game, and technically against the rules already...so what is BWF thinking?

  • with antonsen and nishimoto both players are at fault. one time antonsen indicated he wasnt ready and them celebrated the serve being out. like gillian said, cant have it both ways. another time he moved and struck the shuttle and said he wasnt ready. fault is his there. if you're not ready you dont move, and you certainly dont strike the shuttle. however, nishimoto is getting into position to serve before his opponent gets into position, and then releasing the serve the moment his opponent sinks into position when he knows his opponent requires just another moment to be ready, just as is described perfectly in this video subtitles @3:43.and that captures most of the problems in this video, aside from carolina marin, players arent delaying getting ready, they are facing instantaneous serves as they as they get into position and before they are ready the best way to handle this is 1) stay calm and do not move for the shuttle when it is served to you this way, just put your hand up, 2) do not attempt to claim a point as yours when you are not ready for the serve, 3) if the umpire says anything to you, just respond calmly that you need only one more moment before the serve, 4) the server persists do not start complaining or trying to return the shuttle, just stick to 1-3 above

  • 3:34 Chou already had his left hand holding up when he tried to be in the position, he knew Nishimoto is gonna serve quickly - I've had a few very quick-ready server before, whom I felt not doing it for the dirty purpose (unlike it here which was quite "the earliest possible"), so I just tried to keep one hand up when I got ready, it was inconvenient but was okay. There was, though, once, I had a game with (very amateurs) and the lady CONSTANTLY served while I was still "moving into the ready position". It was incredibly annoying. I was not even still yet and she served. She definitely did it on purpose and want to serve while the opponent is not really ready. I really don't see the point - we are so at the amateur level. That is so dirty and way worse than the proper sudden flick serve. Saw some comments about the slow serving - I do it a lot now, unintentionally. It was mostly because I don't get to (lazy) practice my serve anymore (like before), so it just takes longer and longer to access and avoid a really bad serve. (especially if I just had a bad serve, oops) Sometimes I saw my component already moved (when I hit it too slowly - sigh - I really should practice serving!) but, maybe not as long as 10 sec. It is just really hard to do a good doubles serve - considering what kind of 3rd shots you are passing onto your partner.

    @nfdafds32423@nfdafds324236 ай бұрын
  • It's not dirty tactics to serve right after the opponent is ready, it's just frowned upon. It's like touching gloves in boxing, once you touched gloves means the fight has already started. And some fighters use this as a surprise attack. It's not illegal in the rules, so be ready. France vs Japan MD, she has already put her hand down and the French served. Nothing wrong with that. For CTC V nishimoto, ctc still has his hand up, iirc, his ready position isn't the same as the "wait i'm not ready" position, so no one should be confused. I didn't look at the rules, but I'm pretty sure there shouldn't be a rule saying "wait for 1-2 seconds before serving once opponent indicated they are ready", at most it's only common courtesy.

  • The instant serves are so dirty. I play badminton myself and to receive serves like these is just annoying as hell. I always wait for the opponent to stand ready, before I raise my racket to get ready to serve. This should be some kind of rule, to prevent these instant serves.

I think its acceptable to put your hand up and get into the ready position (which antonson did) but once that is down, you should be execpting the serve. Not be like, hold on, im still not ready which is what Antonson shown here and that should not be acceptable.
