sick skills. credit to all the work that's put in. he could shred the mountain on a coffee table if he wanted to
I ride in the midwest. Never giving up my twin.
I live in Tahoe and I only ride twins 🤷♂️
I used to only ride twins and I do still prefer them for normal activities. I was very against directional actually. I bought a directional twin this year though with about 1.5CM set back in the certs. Nose has more lift but camber is from point to point. It's a mild directional and it's a good addition to my quiver. I like riding switch as much as I can but aftwr getting my directional twin I wanna now get something like this to add as well. I love bombing irresponsibly fast almost as much as I love park. If you have the $ I think it's a good investment, but my heart is more geared towards (and if I didn't have the money for more than 1 board) something like the beast instead. Last year if you asked me this I would had said f no, nope, not doing it😂🤷♂️ FWIW I live in Maine. This would be a special occasion board. Likely keeping edges super sharp and stay off the rails, but who knows.
I will always and I repeat ALWAYS be against rocker or any damn banana board😂 no need for that nonsense
Video should be titled "Park bunny discovers all mountain boards" 😂. I only owned one park board.... My first board in 2002. Since then I've always used all mountain/directional or custom powder board with rocker in the nose. Great video Tae!
Actually tho😂 definitely gonna be having a directional board in my bag from now on!
@@Taevis-Kapalkahow much do you weigh and what length did you ride the alternator in? You’re riding is sick my man 😎
Valid video my favourite part is when he falls on the front 10 and then gets back up and does it the next lap good job man ❤
Thanks dude!!! Definitely not gonna make a habit of doing that though 😂
been riding a 160 alternator for a few days now and I love it so far. I had the same reaction as you when I started euro carving down a steep groomer first run ("whooo!"). No heel chatter, no slipping out, you can really grip it and rip it. It's NOT my first directional board by any means, it just carves so well! Feels good in the air, makes tweaking nose grabs and methods really fun. haven't hit any rails yet but if I can do most the tricks I really like doing on my 173 nitro cannon, (front lips, front boards, weird boardslide to grab combos) then I'm sure the alternator will be good enough for my needs in the park
That’s sick! Thanks for sharing 🙌🏻
Like this guy, informative tips
This felt so live lol. Bravo👏 and thanks for the intel!
You're so welcome!
I ride a directional board as it gave me a good excuse for not being able to ride switch....until I watched this video...😄
yeah Sean super stalked to see you in a review was just random clicking for breaky. Good session in the uluwatu bowl !
Dude sounds like a put together-chill Daxflame and rips like a champ. Didnt expect to be so entertained ahah. Great video. Props to camera team too.
🙏🏻
Just the content I’ve been waiting for, thanks guys! Actually have the alternator, couldn’t ask more from a board
Great to hear!
If there was anyone I'd follow around the mountain trying to learn it'd be this dude!!
me tooooo
Really informative and super entertaining video Tae. Awesome
Glad you enjoyed it😁
Great video!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Got the 162W alternator. Set the bindings back one set for powder. If you ride it fast it really flies through the powder…
True twin is the only type I make sure to have at least one of ready to go each season
Great video! Thank you! I've been riding the Lib Tech Travis Rice Pro for many years now and is what I learned on. Looking to take the next step with a new board, and this video pretty much sealed it for me. Any advice between the Nitro Alternator v. Nitro Banker?
stoked we could help! We haven't tried the banker, but it goes hard as well. I'd say if you are planning on shredding park go for the Alternator, but if you are looking for a bit more play out of your board on the mountain the baker is a good choice. Both are awesome boards that you will enjoy!
@@SnowboardAddiction thank you for the reply! Subscribed and looking forward to more of your videos!
Second year snowboarding, 40yo, and man, this video was one of the best I ever saw! Really fascinating. Currently I have a yes Hel yes (agressif hybrid directional), and I was wondering what would be my next step. For sure will be a directional full camber ❤ I just would like to have a option like that for girls board, I'm a light men (5'8" us 7.5, 138pounds)
Check out the Nitro Snowboards lineup they have some great options!
wow! crazy good... how stiff is the team pro relative to a custom or custom x? thanks!
Super relative to the custom, it's pretty much nitros custom. If you like the Custom the team pro would hit all the same points.
imo a tweaked true tail 360 (either side) can be a pretty sweet single-hand outside the bindings
A great video, I'm actually considering choosing Team or alternator, I'm using Directional now, I think alternators are interesting, and the 2425 alternator is beautiful.
arguably the definition is simply evolving, does this mean that a certain style is dead? nah, but some super cool developments!! keep stoke \m/
Such a fun video, sick first 10 of the season!
Glad you enjoed it!!!
What kind of training do you do to avoid screaming FUUU** on camera? Love this vid. I’ve been debating twin vs directional for a minute now.
Even David gogings would be screaming like that, no joke tearing the cheeks is unbelievably painful! If you don’t believe then you are blessed enough to not have experienced it yourself 😂
@snowboardaddiction what is your stance width and angles on Team Pro?
I don’t know the numbers, but I’m reference stance with -9 +12 Should be around 22 to 23 inches in width
Would the alternator do well as a powder focused board in a 2 board quiver with a true twin park board?
100% it’s the main go to pow board of many top riders! Super wide noise so it crushes pow and chop.
Need to get him on a twinpig or yes greats unic, or a lago double barrel.
how do you detune your camber boards to use on rails? Rounding your edges, or would a base bevel suffice? Thanks.
I don’t do anything to my edges, just carve for a few laps! I only dull my edges for street riding.
@@SnowboardAddiction wow, that's brave, so you have no fear of catching on any rails in the park without beveling or filing down edges? Why only do it for street? Just asking becaue i'm deciding between a rocker camber vs a camrock board as my park board. Thanks again!
Were you able to try the aeronaut? How does it compare to the alternator?
Not yet! Maybe Nitro will send us one next year:)
Even for pure park it's fun sometimes to have a difference between your nose and tail. You can get a little more creative as your switch tricks hit little different than your regular.
Ride kink for 2 seasons, just got a lobster creamer. Oh was it ever creamy!! Directional twin has impressed me. Still love my Tru twin
Can you test out the cam-out camber by nitro? Been contemplating buying the nitro dropout
If we can get out hands on one we will!
im saying like what about nose grab or tail grab. Thats out side the bindings ?
Also I definitely count the pretzel out. You gotta consider the equipment. slight more margin for error and barelysluffed.
We count those of course!
tindy @ scott.
Imo more people should be on directional, realistically how much are you actually riding switch?
Even when riding switch it’s not a massive factor, so it’s definitely worth looking into:)
How come you’ve never ridden Directional Twin before, if there are videos of you riding Nitro Team(not PRO version), which is exactly Directional Twin
As far as I know, the team has inch more on the noise but that’s all. Other then that it’s exactly the same. A directions bored in my opinion means it is different from one end to the other and is set back a good amount. If it can be confused for true twin it is true twin in my books haha
@@Taevis-KapalkaThe nose of Team is wider and softer than the tail, so it’s already not a true twin. Setback is not big, but it’s present. True twin boards don’t have such things
@@user-hi3il4iu9qCan’t say I ever noticed, I wouldn’t bother factoring that in honestly haha
@@Taevis-Kapalkaisn’t that a bit shortsighted for someone who is a coach, and representing a big brand like SnowboardAddiction?
@@woutvanhorenbeek2694 don’t fret, If there is something important that will impact people’s riding it won’t be neglected ✌️
Can you guys make a new video on detuning nem board pleaseeee 🙏
I don’t believe in defining snowboards. Spent a few laps carving your board and the edges will be ready. DTuning is mostly just used for street, or airbags:)
As Taevis said, Detuning isn't done too much, if you are really worried about edge catches, get an edge tool that lets you angle your edge at 88°, that's what a lot of the pros do. we do have a video made on this here: www.addictionplus.tv/courses/take/Tuning/lessons/44694339-how-to-de-tune-your-snowboard
@@Taevis-Kapalkaawesome mate!! Thanks heaps for coming back to me!
@@SnowboardAddictionunderstood guys! Will follow his advice but will also check your vid! Thanks again!
what about japan grab? you can also catch out side of the bindings
Nope, you go around the binding but your hand needs to come back to inside the bindings for it to count. Sometimes people let it slide on like a super corked 7, but that’s it.
dont really care about the topic of this video i just love watching this guy snowboard
Thanks man!
@@Taevis-Kapalka no, thanks for having such an amazing attitude even though you are so skilled and stylish , you dont see that often. Im sure you would be a delight to hang out with!
@@SEXYANDguesswhatI appreciate that! 🙏🏻
What brand is your coat and pants
Tolasmik from snowears
After watching this I feel like if you give this guy any plank of wood, he'd still be able to land switch 5s on the pro line in the park on it :D
Damn you just spoiled our next video! ;)
How does the team pro compare to the beast?
Never tried the beast so we really aren’t qualified to say sadly.
I need only ultrawide (30 cm waist) true twin or dir.twin snowboard. Nobody makes it, except Donek
Donek makes great boards. Ive has my phoenix for 10 years it still rips.
There is the freighter from Douk now.
That would definitely not go as well in the park haha, tho maybe we will need to test that theory out💪
I always ride with protective shorts to keep my cheeks safe :D
Good call!
Nitro santoku review maybe?
I’d try any of their boards at this point, I’ve been stoked!
Taevis has the juiciest kits in the game...hands down!
In my experience the advantages of an all mountain board are all true… until you ride switch in any significant amount. I really notice that all the tech that improves carves going regular are also degrading the craves going switch. You really notice it if you do full runs switch and not just 3-4 turns here and there. I may be an outlier, riding switch maybe 35-40% of the time. How about the reverse video? “You can ride twin in pow”
Taevis has been using Twins in Pow his whole life haha. Taevis did a bunch of switch park laps without any trouble, we give this board the switch riding seal of Approval :)
I got a ride shadowban and an evil twin. Unless I'm being a park rat the whole day the shadowban is just so much more fun and versatile to rip around in any condition and even fun for a few park laps....Though the shadowban is a directional twin so it is a bit cheating lol.
Both excellent boards! :)
Rome Party Mod wide does everything with style
Man, Nitro Team Pro is a Directional twin board
Very slightly, all boards have an extra inch on the noise nowadays. We talk about this in the video:)
please what pants are those!!!??
it's the Tolasmik Collab with Snowears
@@SnowboardAddiction thank you!!
The team pro still is a directional twin with a longer nose than tail
By 1 inch, we don’t count that
We dont use flying v typish profile on highest level meanwhile Chase Blackwell never summer proto synthesis literally never summers version of flying v in pipe not that long ago chris corning in big air.... U should have said not we dont use u should have said that full camber or almost full camber is now most popular. Also congrats on sick 1080
Also most if not all T Rice’s boards are C2X camber, which is the same idea as the flying V.
Look at the best riders are doing. Do not fallow Chris cornings vibes, it’s the same as saying you should use a wide stance because Shaun white does. Just does not apply to the standard in snowboarding.
@@boleidi4936he doesn’t ride much besides pow so it’s much more flexible.
Well full camber has always been the most popular among pros and it's most likely going to stay that way too.
We back Taevis on this. If you want more power out of your snowboard, full Camber is the best choice. Watch any snowboard contest and you will see this to be the case:)
Hey dude wear crash pants and you don't have to take the pain or at least much less of it 🙂
Crash pants actually do basically nothing at this kind of impact. I used to rock them but they would tear on slams like this, so then I’m just hurt and down cash haha They are better for when your learning and your impacts are small and targeted towards your tail bone.
🤣
@@Taevis-Kapalka Yeah taking the impact when fallin L/XL jumps would need few air mattresses or so. But still despite I've ridden since the 90's feeling pretty competent I never ride without pants. In the end they take significant amount of pain away even from harder slams. Probably have saved my tail from at least couple of fractures too. I figured since I don't notice them while riding why not wear them all the time.
@@pjk-ripsFor sure! Any way you can minimize injury you extend your season so I back them. Really good especially if learning to carve or rails haha
Pretzel counted
Really this video should be all about riding switch… the directional should ride just as good forward as the twin otherwise they’re really fucking up
Next time!
Don’t grab method outside the bindings please
Nicolas Müller disagrees kzhead.info/sun/m7mMoNtlfmqhrIE/bejne.htmlsi=7l0w9QMPxh0cpa5u&t=150
Your tripping haha
You ride whistler and never been on a directional board?? Get out of the pink…I mean park
But Taevis loves the park..
Get on a swallowtail on a pow day. Night and day difference.
Just need that deep powder to go with it!
Team pro is not a true twin.
It’s so close no one would ever notice it isn’t, because taevis sure didn’t haha
Twin board 4 ever. I hate directional boards. I’m sorry.
Both have their pro's and con's nothing rides powder like a directional!
Dude you need to work on your carves. Your heel side carves are barely 30 degrees. I can get a higher angle on my son’s 130cm rocker board. You want a minimum of 50 degrees on both edges.
Sounds like we need to set-up a race;)
I ride in the midwest. Never giving up my twin.
