All I am saying is my opinion and that is as follows: If you have failed twice at the title, you should fight upcoming fighters to earn another chance - Those upcoming fighters are people like Pavlovich or Aspinall, so he should win vs one of those two and then he could rightfully claim his 3rd chance at the title.

I think most people don't understand that when he says he wants to fight for the belt it is only positioning himself vs the UFC matchmaking... It costs nothing to ask even if he knows he is probably not gonna get it. For his career and money the best would be to fight for the title so why asking to fight someone behind (that didn't beat huge names either for now)? He is saying elsewhere that if the UFC tells him he needs one or two fights more, he will of course do it, may it be aspinall

this guy fought jon jones and francis ngannou and ppl think he's scared of fighting aspinall or pavlovich... i agree that he should have to beat at least one of them if he's gonna get another title shot, but the problem is the ufc and their inability to make clear contending paths. it's very easy for the ufc to just say that aspinall is fighting pavlovich and the winner will get the title shot vs the jones/miocic winner, but they refuse to do that. it would've been very easy to make leon vs belal, but instead they wanted to give colby his 3rd title fight in 5 fights, so others in the division see no reason to fight. it's very easy for them to announce sean vs. merab, but they wanna have the sean/chito rematch to try to get more money...bc despite what some of us fans think, it IS NOT about the quality of the fights and it IS NOT a meritocracy. ALSO, the UFC could easily have made pavlovich the #1 ranked contender and aspinall the #2 and gane the #3 or something, that makes it so it makes sense from gane's perspective to fight one of them before fighting for the belt...but again, the UFC gave him the #1 rank for whatever reason. from gane's perspective, if he's the #1 contender, why is he fighting anyone other than the champion? i'm as annoyed as the rest of you, but this is the ufc's fault, not gane's

Ciryl has a win his last fight but he’s also coming off Two really bad title fight losses and is 2-2 over his last 4. Tom has the one loss 2 fights ago but it was due to a freak injury not a one sided manhandling. And he recently finished Spivak Whos Ciryl last win recently too. The fight makes perfect sense unless he’d prefer to go jump in with Sergey Pavlovich instead. Toms the #4 ranked heavyweight with Sergey ranked number #3. Ciryl is the number one contender still but just lost 2 title fights and is at least 2 wins away from another Crack at Jones after the Stipe fight if Jon wins and he needs one good win to have a shot at Stipe if Stipe beats Jon. So a win over Tom would be massive. Blows my mind he doesn’t see how the fight makes major sense in getting him back to a third title shot.
