The grandiose scale of the set of the new Ukrainian film "SHTTL" is located right in the middle of a pine forest 45 km from Kiev near the village of Rovzhi.
Events unfold on July 21, 1941 - 24 hours before the German invasion of the shtetl, the prototype of which was the Lviv town of Sokal.
The main character Mendel (actor Moshe Lobel) returns to the shtetl from Kiev to say goodbye: the guy wants to devote his life to cinema and move to the city. At this point, everyone is preparing for the wedding - the seventeen-year-old son of a butcher must marry his peer Yuna (Anisia Stasevich), the daughter of a rabbi. But Mendel and Yuna are in love with each other, feelings flare up between them again, and Mendel decides to steal the bride from under the crown. In this case, he is helped by a friend - Ukrainian Demyan (Petro Ninevsky). The guys manage to escape, they all dream of a bright future, but in the morning Mendel discovers that the Germans are approaching the village. The guys return to the shtetl to warn their own and avoid trouble, but...
