In todays video I show you How To Make HOMEMADE ANT KILLER, using just 2 ingredients, honey and Borax. Borax is quite cheap and you should be able to find it in the laundry or cleaning section of your supermarket or hardware store.
Borax naturally kills ants by interfering with their digestive system. This slow kill allows time for the worker ants to consume the bait and head back to their nest to share it with the rest of the colony and the queen. It may take a few applications to totally rid yourself of ants.
This budget ant killer is very effective, give it a try!

Queen ant : what have you bought be today? Ants : sweet water. Queen : interesting..

A tip to make this even more effective. Put a small piece of cake in the trap so it soaks up some of the mixture. The ants will cart bits off to the nest, and this seems to wipe out the nest completely. To protect other animals, I use a small lidded plastic pot, drill some 1/8inch holes near the bottom, then insert the cake and fluid and screw the top back on. The ants soon find their way in.
I saw another video just the other day that did exactly that! He used a piece of waffle. Apparently the ants will use the 'solids' to feed the larvae and the liquid for the adults. We have carpenter ants just outside the front door, and I used a yogurt container. Didn't have a drill so just cut some holes near the bottom with a sharp tipped serrated knife. I had a squeeze bottle of sugar and borax solution that I made a year ago (for ants in another area of the house) and it still worked great! (My recipe was 1 part borax to 5 parts sugar and enough water to make a syrupy consistency). Covered containers are a good optiom when you don't want other critters to get into it.
Good advice.
You don't need a water. Just borax, sugar and wet biscuit covered with that mixture.
Had terrible infestations at several places in the house. Used the Borax/Honey method and within a couple of days, no more ants! Thanks Greg!
Oh thank god! I have tried ant traps and they seemed the fuel them. Im crossing fingers
Also works on yellow jackets and bald faced hornets but instead of sugar, use cat food.

@juliosdiy3206 did the ants get to you before you managed to prepare the mixture??
Love Australian accent. I watched several videos on this. Some were too long. Some moved their phone around so much that I got sea sick. This was short. To the point. Simple. Concise. And I like that you added the caution at the end about dogs, butterflies, etc. Thank you. Your formula is the one I chose.
Thank you :D
I agree! Short, explains everything thoroughly, and no jerky movements. Plus the advice at the end ❤
I've used this method in the past and it works like a charm. I put mine in a shallow lid inside a plastic salad or tomato container that they come in from the grocery store to keep the rain out. The containers have slits and holes to allow the ants in.
Will definitely try this. I swear my home is a 5 star hotel for ants!
That's like my backyard for me.
I literally don't even have ants. BUT THATS NOT GOING TO STOP ME FROM WATCHING THIS
God damn right 🙌
lol
Yes you do, unless you in some penthouse.
Ants are unstoppable. They are coming for you soon.
MonsterStorm oh god no not the ants. They’re getting closer
Occasionally got ants in the kitchen, at first set up ant bait stations of the borax mixture near the areas we saw them. The ants came by droves to lap up the bait and seemed to make the problem worse. The biggest revelation was putting the bait OUTSIDE! That's where the ants were coming from I realized. After baiting the outside the number of ants seen inside dropped immediately to just a few and after three days there were no ants coming in at all.
I can confirm this works extremely well. I had a persistent ant problem. I mixed up a batch but made the mistake of trying to improve the recipe by adding black strap molasses. The ants wouldn’t touch it, probably because of the sulfur. When I made it with just water, sugar, and borax, the ants ate it and were gone for about a week. I put out more and they haven’t been back.
Ty. I don't have honey
You properly could mix it with flour and make dough. The ants will then probably eat the dough
@@profetarmageddon Just use sugar.
@@profetarmageddon try a good amount of sugar, if you don't have honey.
I don't have borax , what can i do ?
I used this mix last year when tiny ants invaded my kitchen. I cleared out a cabinet and left a bowl full of sugar borax out. In one night it completely wiped out the colony. After 2 weeks of trying other methods I was pretty relieved.
Did you mix water with it or just dry?

I was happy to hear that you took the time to also mention safety precautions people should take to prevent the possibility of this concoction being consumed by animals, wildlife, butterflies etc. Alot of people don't take the time to even think about such things. Thanks!
I agree 100%
Vicki Gower I agree🙂 I have pets and am very careful to never use in any areas they can access. As for my yard, I used Tero liquid ant bait for outdoors. The ones that have the stake you push in the ground, above ground the unit holds the liquid enclosed in the hard plastic housing, which has a little hole ants can enter, then feed on the bait, which they then take back to the colony and the wicked Queen ant eats and dies. Eventually, depending on the colonies size, also kills off the other ants in the colony. What people don't realize is there can be many many colonies, which are sub colonies, and each colony can also have a lot more than jus 1 Queen. Also, not al ants like sweets, some like protein, while others like fat. Basically 3 types of foods for certain ants. I have researched that this bait as well as ant baits sold in stores, like Tero, Combat, Raid, etc...do not kill carpenter ants, fire ants, and a few other types. Also, it may take up to a month to kill ants indoors. They make colonies inside your walls, and other places. As for outdoor eradication, that too ca take a long time, but if one keeps a fresh supply of the ant bait, does not let it get depleted, make sure that the ants are actually taking the bait. The *borax [*The branded 20 Mule Team is the easiest to find]] mixture needs to have the right ratio and does not become hardened.
@@jessecole7707 wow you have really done your research. Thank you for all of this additional information :)

Greg, you are AWESOME !! I had an infestation around my cats food bowl-I moved the bowl to a different room, sprinkled Borax on the carpet, left it there for a few days, then vacuumed it up, then put the food bowl back---that was 2 years ago and they have never returned.
Quickest simplest recipe I’ve seen on KZhead re the Borax ! All the others muck around too much making it up and all particular about the texture ect . Just love that all you need to do is to dissolve 2 teas in boiling water ! and with a bit of honey . Wonderful! Thanks so much for that Greg . I needed this one I’ve been desperately trying to get rid of ants outside that have been coming through from the neighbours fence for years!!! All the ant sand is just a joke and all the other other remedies don’t work for more than a day so I’m definitely going to give this easy one a go 👍I’m an Aussie too 🇦🇺so Trust an Aussie to get it easy to do and straight to the point 😉👍

Why you make a joke on the mother in law?
Nice job Greg and thanks for sharing, very helpful.
I cannot believe how well this solution works! Every summer my home and garden gets overrun by ants and nothing seems to work, but THIS- it's absolute magic (I only had to refill my traps a couple times and I haven't seen one ant since) and what a relief I don't have to deal with the annoyance anymore. GREG so good to see you again....This sounds good and if I have ants I will definately use it...I see the weather is good ...THANKS!!!!!
Great tip thanks for sharing!!
Wow you’re a life saver thanks!
For Safety and to keep this substance away from pets, butterflies, bees and other insects place the solution in a closed lid plastic tub. Prior to filling the container, drill several holes above the liquid level. Ensure these punctures are just large enough for the ants to enter. Secure the lids tightly.
Was wondering about that...thank you.
You can also put a rock on top of the lid to stop a breeze from moving it about..
True. I was thinking an old spaghetti jar with holes in the lid. Or baby food jar.
Why not allow all insects to eat it?
Thx for sharing this. I'll give it a try.
Thank you so much!!! Going to try it today!
If you want to keep it away from pets indoors is to get a small container and punch holes in it so only the ants can get to it
Love this idea, thank you!
I mix about half boric acid and half powdered sugar in a lid of some kind (jar, yogurt, whatever). In about a week the ants are gone. Easy
I do that also. I didn't know that borax could be used too, though. The boric acid and sugar hardens sometimes after awhile and I put more water on it.
@@sheri023 I usually add scraps of fresh fruit and meat to the middle of the container to attract both sugar and grease loving ants.
That's an idea. Thanks
@@sheri023 it really looks disgusting. I keep adding more tiny pieces as the old ones dry out. I did this in May and it took about 1-2 weeks and there no ants visible anywhere. I threw away my concoction about a week ago. Even though I have store bought ant baits hidden around, they're baaacckkk. Hzve to make up a new batch.
Thank you for this ant killer info. We have tried everything. Now to try this. Hope it works for us like it did you. God bless you from grandma Katie in Oregon
Thank you!! They are driving me nuts
You can also mix equal parts of sugar and baking soda. You don't need much at all. A quarter cup of each will be plenty. Mix it together really well in a bowl. Then sprinkle a little on one or more saucers and place them wherever you see ant's. It has always worked really well for me. The way it works is the ant's can not distinguish the sugar from baking soda so they take it all. Since they can not digest the baking soda they will die when they eat it. They also take it back to there nest for all the other ant's. If you have pet's like I do it is ideal for keeping your pet's safe but still killing the ant's.
Thanks

Infinitely Better: Add some protein to it to kill the queen ants; w/o protein I don't think you get a total kill. Here is my recipe: approx. 1/4 borax. 1/2 sugar 1/4 crushed dry cat/dog food or protein powder. I vigorously stir the sugar and borax with enough hot water to make a slurry. Then I stir in the protein to thicken, stir hard until smooth and silky. IMO sugar works better than honey and is way cheaper.
Thanku so much I was struggling with these insects they just come into ur house like unwanted guest!!!

Excellent idea. I also found that if you put little heaps of ground bran around your garden, it eliminates slugs and snails. Its eco friendly too. They gorge on it until they are full. But as they can't digest it, the bran expands making them too full to move. Soon as its light, birds spot them and enjoy a leisurely breakfast.
You mean, like cereal Bran? Thanks for the suggestion
@@judithcaple1592 Yes. Its like a ground powder. You can get it in healthfood shops and as its light, you get a lot for your money. Put little piles of it (about a tablespoon full) under leaves or just randomly. I did and the next morning birds were covering my garden. There were empty snail shells by the dozen. Never knew you get so many invaders at once on your garden. Its kind to birds so they come to no harm eating it. Better than slug pellets.
