🎬 Jean-Marc Birraux
Wynton Marsalis - trompette
Walter Blanding Jr - tenor
Dan Nimmer - piano
Carlos Henriquez - contrebasse
Francesco Ciniglio - batterie
Véronica Swift - voix

    • When I first heard her scat, I thought I was listening to a horn player. I later discovered she is a trumpeter. So it made sense. I would put her among an elite category of female jazz singers who scat. Not to compare her to anyone else, but one cannot overlook Ella Fitzgerald. She remains the queen.

Swift performed at the Detroit Jazz Fest a few years ago and her presence was absolutely boring. We weren’t all that impressed. • They really moved their as..ses :) ; you know, French audience takes for granted American Jazz players, and in particular American Black Jazz Players are going to be something really special, but unluckily sometims the miracle doesn't happen and there is not so much swear on the stage floor. But here it's pure honest energetical and inventive music ! Great !

    • Absolutely! Nimmer has an unusual thing he does with his knuckles on the keys while soloing. I've heard it on other recordings with him as well. Truly a great artist.

  • I consider my self to be a really good jazz drummer and have played with some big folks but this drummer swings his butt off and the Piano player is absolutely smokin. Same for the upright player. Wynton is always excellent so I expect from him but wow the whole group is just so right on..!
