Faster then a V8 and nearly as comfortable as a Bentley. What's not to love about the old Volvo S60
The repair bills. They are endless.
@@fergusferguson4782if you buy a toasted Volvo, catching them up on maintenance from a bad owner is expensive but maintaining them doesn’t cost to much just my opinion
@@fergusferguson4782 The R is not that expensive to repair, only hard as not all aftermarket parts work and fit, most parts like sensors need to be original, which are expensive sometimes. (MAF for example). Other than that, still easier owning an R than V8 XC90... Much harder for repairs and parts.
@@MultiPureskill I am $5k in just getting it running half way properly with a Level 0 tune. Another $5k will give me a shot at new brakes and suspension. Parts are cheap enough (!), it is the specialist labor charges that kill you. They are now collectible. I really don't want to FAFO on what is rapidly becoming a rare vehicle.
@@fergusferguson4782 Well yeah, thats why my R was only once in a Volvo car mechanic shop. Other than that i make 80% of the work myself, its so easy on the R. Im also "old school" so i dont follow these "tune 0, Tune 1".. Just make a DO88 intercooler upgrade, and you should be set really if u want to stay stock. Other than that im from Europe, cheapest R here was 7k $, it had broken AWD, axle, burned oil, water in trunk, front was damaged, interior torn etc. Thats when i knew it would be a money pit, i found a different R, for 8k$, the car took about 2k$, i changed spark plugs, oil (two times), VVT, the engine was actually just rebuilt, new AWD, new Haldex, new axles, new brakes + calipers, new wheels. Now i will get my car polished, seats refurbished, new radio, (HU-850 sucks), new pegasus wheels (i want 18 inch), and the bodykit.

I half agree, these are absolutely wonderful, but I don’t want them to get too exposed….I just don’t want them to go up in price 😂

Reliable? No. I have one and am $5k in with at least another $5k to go just to make it mildly roadworthy. 108k miles.
I think someone is scamming you, dude. Its suspension is expensive, yes, but that doesn’t explain these bills.

Hey did you use a body kit for the front or your car? I have a s60 04 and i don’t like the really long look, id like a skirt i think or something like that to make it more square

@jrzeger congrats!! Sweet ride for college for sure. I'd look all over fb marketplace, fb s60r groups and swedespeed. A full kit is pricey. Usually 1k. The full factory kit comes with side skirts, front winglets, rear bumper and trunk spoiler. I'd start with finding side skirts

@florianpaste6594 well it has the ipd 'cat back' exhaust which starts from where the cat should end lol. But the downpipe does not have a cat so maybe we just call it a catless stainless turbo back exhaust set up
The s80 v8 is still the one to get.
That is definitely on my list to get
