King harlaus the butterlord like this
Siege lasts for 4 days until a village on the other side of the realm gets pillaged or the King calls for a feast.
To me, you had missed a noteworthy siege, named the siege of Tyre. It lasted 13 years, until the attacker abandoned the siege. It was between 586-573 BC
Joshy S Why didn’t you mention the attackers ? THE BABYLONIAN EMPIRE ruled by Nebuchadnezzar II . It’s silly that the video maker didn’t mention it .
@@hassanbassim4007 You're right I should have mentioned the name.
commander? wheres the food commander: throws a foot
Wow, another splendid, informative and so pleasant to watch, video...I was in "Candia" this summer, so a little bit special for me to see this one (but I was able to leave Creta without any trouble!)...Thanks, I really enjoyed!😊 And keep up the excellent job!
What about the siege of Ceuta? Why is it missing in so many lists? Actually, why are there so many things about spanish history completely ignored? Came across some yank made "top 10 most important submarine developments in the world" and there was no mention of the first succesful full-electric battery fueled submarine, yet no mention of it. There was of course 8 US made ones out of the 10.
its just as much moroccan history as spanish history. You think spanish history is ignored? People dont even know moroccan and other african history even exist. atleast colombus is taught in every elementary school in history, but noone knows about moroccan explorer ibn battuta
Byzantium always in ours hearts!
But the Ottomans are our soul.
Siege of Ceuta was longer tho, wasn't it?
Yes it lasted 33 years
good and interessting video man! keep it up.
Thank you for the interesting video!
Thank you!
thank you for the lesson mate
I think the Siege of Athens (431 BCE) is a worth noting. The initial siege lasted 10 years, though the city was under nearly constant siege throughout the Peloponnesian War, which lasted about 27 years.
Your art style is stunning.
Where is Troy?? I'm just kidding haha imagine living through sieges that long; what hell must it be. What hell must it be to suffer ANY siege. Great video; looking forward to the next ones.
Thank you for watching! It might be pretty nasty. Especially if you are besieged for about 12 years or so. There are very few ways to entertain yourself in embattled castle I think.
I didn't even think of the lack of entertainment haha but that's definitely true; must be terribly boring.
@@ThisisBarris Indeed, If that poor fellows at least had wi-fi, it could be much easier. But it would definitely worsen the defensive potentialities.
@@MercenaryCamp haha
For sea-knights, the Knights Hospitaller sure do love their epic sieges.
And inading Muslims just like Westerners are doing today. Byzantines started the Muslim-Christian conflict after all.
Mystery Man I said nothing about that. Muslims started a lot of offensives into Christian territory as well, neither side is free of faults in those past wars. This is a highly political topic and I wish to avoid starting a huge flame war here, so if you could please.
Great video
The longest siege is the siege of Ceuta, it lasted 33 years.
What happened exactly
@@aizensosuke382 Morocco tried to conquer the city of Ceuta, defended by Spain which sent troops through the sea. Britain helped Morocco at some point. The spaniards managed to keep the city.
By Pyros ok thank you sir
That siege was interrupted like 2 or 3 times I read from other comments on a Siege of Candia video (SandRhoman). And that's why some say the longest siege is the one at Crete, Candia is the longest. But I guess it's how you define siege.
@@Gutbomber from what I know there were attempts to negociante, but all of them failed. But the attackers never retreated, I think.
The siege of Ceuta was 33 years
Me siege anything in eu4
Nice video good researching and please make a video about the early muslim conquests .
Thank you! I've added this topic to list! Thanks for your proposition.
Why wasn’t the siege of Carthage mentioned? That lasted 7 years.
Xiangyang is pronounced "sh-young young", nice video.
Очень круто. Пытаюсь сам переводить)
The longest siege in history was the siege of ceuta
Yes it lasted 33 years
Long live to the Most Serene Republic of Venice
Viva San Marco!
Par Tera e Par Mar, San Marco!
Where is grunwalder?
Nice
Wrong, Ceuta was the longest.
Damn this guy is rely gud at engrish
The longest one is Ceuta
What about the siege of Tyre?
But as far as I know, Alexander was besieging the Tyre for about 7 months. Am I wrong?
@@MercenaryCamp oh sorry about that 😭
@@MercenaryCamp Alexander conquered it very fast, but the previous siege lasted for 13 years from 586-573 BC. The babylonians were the siegers.
Any siege that hold long enough and the attacker give up??
Check out the Great Siege of Malta of 1565 :D
Most sieges in byzantium...
@@matodiniv Wow thanks, cool bro.
Most sieges in castle islands probably, because they were always pain in the ass for empires
Where is siege of mesologi?
where is the siege of Troy? it lasts 10 years
I came here from Emperor TigerStar
Full Ottoman
Ottomans = longest lasting empire+most skillful swordsmen + gunpowder+ many more + long sieges
* longest lasting empire* Where did you heard that? From Narnia?
@@WFASPigeonGang it is the longest lasting empire from christ birth till now
@@loap4757 Well, sorry but no. The ottoman empire lasted 623 years, from 1299 to 1922, and we know that. There are still empires that lasted for many more time: - Byzantine empire lasted for 1058 years, from 395 to 1453. - Holy Roman Empire lasted for 844 years, from 962 to 1806. - The Japan is the last still standing empire and it's still standing from 660 b.C, so now it has 2680 years. So no, the Ottoman empire isn't the longest lasting empire
@@WFASPigeonGang the byzantine is romans in the east part of europe down to modern day turkey its a roman branch and romans were before christ birth
@@WFASPigeonGang longest empire with one dynasty.
Turkish Subtitles pls
Filled with wrong information.
3:00 I bet they never captured West Philadephia!
Why would you keep besieging the castle for 21 year? That was just a convoy, damn it, not a Sultan's heir! Hell, most of the soldiers who participated in the raid were probably dead by the time the siege ended, replaced by their children. Imagine being a women inside of that castle, though o.o
Emperors have massive egos, and they generally don't give a shit about sense...
Castle? It was a fortified port city and no the venetian soldiers were most defenitely not dead "replaced by their children", can't say the same for the ottomans who over 21 years kept failing and losing legions of men, they eventually took it but it was never worth it, at the end the after failed relief the city surrendered having only 3600 soldiers fit for combat, thousand wounded, both them and the people were allowed to evacuate.
@@someorclad9738 nice projection, if the ottoman emperor looks weak he dies nothing to do with ego
Bro do you think 60.000soldiers always were in island?
Powerful Side of the venice was their navy. Most of the fights were in the sea. Most of the time there were soldiers just for block the aids
You've got it wrong, bud. The siege of Ceuta was longer than the siege of Candia. Do some research.
Source?
Medieval Cities casually defend under siege for more than decades. Modern Cities after a few weeks: (Sounds of rioting)
Unbeliveable how bitter people can become.
Странный акцент🤔🤔
horrible lector
Not my cup of tea indeed.
Oh, man, just narrate in your native tongue and put English subtitles. That, or just hire a professional.
Shut up
I think his accent only makes the video better!
