He didn’t go to Pride marches, he didn’t like gay clubs. He liked intelligent conversation with people from all walks of life. In his short life he was respectful and kind. I don't like our flag. You're right, I'm not British. I've never been awarded British citizenship despite living in this country for 23 years out of my 25 years of existence. Not having citizenship means I can't vote on my future or get a driver's license. Maybe it's obvious now why I dislike the UK. It's easy for some idiot to say go back to your country of origin. Bit difficult though since I'm British all but in law. In many ways, I'm more British than your average Brit.

I have legal right to remain which means I can legally work and pay tax. I have just got myself a Turkish passport. It wasn't easy though and I've been trying to get one for 8 years. Since I'm culturally integrated here, it wouldn't be easy for me to leave the country. I have no family anywhere. All I've ever wanted since I was young was to get a motorbike. I can't even legally ride one and there's no good reason why not. I don't want to be treated like an illegal immigrant. I just want to be treated the same as my British friends. Also I had ID before I got my passport. I had something called a citizen card. Ironic really.

This is not a comparison. Unlike the Union Jack, which was introduced by the monarchy, the French tricolor was fought for by the French people, for the French people, during the revolution.

Tommy Robinson is a prophet! He saw what was coming years ago. He's too free with bad language for my taste, but he doesn't deserve the label that has been stuck on him, particularly by people like Quentin Letts. If they took the trouble to watch him address the Oxford Union several years ago, they should come to a different conclusion if they are capable of unbiased rational thought.
The Union flag was good enough to be flown on the landing craft which landed on D-Day, and on tanks which liberated Belsen concentration camp. Also good enough for Ginger Spice. Union Jack good enough on navy vessels which helped end slavery.
