Grading every pick for the #Bears #Lions #Vikings & #Packers in the 2024 #nfldraft
Why I do Draft Grades Videos:
This is a fun exercise to visit how I believe these players will produce for these teams, what these coaches and players can work on to make these Grades look wrong in a few years, vice versa, as well as what these Drafts might tell us about a certain team’s plans or opinions on existing players on their roster or the types of schemes they are looking to run.
DRAFT GRADING CRITERIA
DAYS 1 & 2
“S” -Certified Steal
• Need, team/scheme fit check out and the value is better than expected

o Player was a slight reach
o Positional value in question (1st Round Only)
o Team passed on a better player at the position for the team
o Team ignored value at a major need (1st Round Only)
o Team/Scheme fit is in question
o An otherwise “C” graded pick due to value and/or better players being available, but a massive hole at a value position (QB, OT, WR, ED, DT, CB) was addressed in Round 1 with a still good player that wouldn’t have been available for the team later
“C”
• Fine pick but two of the following apply
o Player was a slight reach
o Positional value in question (1st Round Only)
o Team passed on a better player at the position for the team
o Team ignored value at a major need with (1st Round Only)
o Team/Scheme fit is in question
“D”
• Pick is in question as three of the following apply

o Team ignored value at a major need with (1st Round Only)
o Team/Scheme fit is in question
OR Player was a major reach
“F”
• A truly inexplicable pick as player was a major reach, AND team passed on a better player at the position for the team, team/scheme fit is in question, or team ignored value at a major need or positional value is in question (1st Round Only)
"-" May be applied if pick required a high trade-up price
DAY 3
Certified Steal (Purple)
• Team stole a player who had a Day 1 or 2 grade who has a legit shot to be an impact player
Great Pick (Green)
• Team found above average value and a player with a legit chance to start within the first couple of seasons with the team OR a great role player in a key spot right away (Goal line back, #3 D-Lineman, TE2, dime back, kick returner, etc.)
Good Pick (Blue)
• Value lines up and player is in a great scheme or opportunity to find success as a starter or key role player relative to most Day 3 picks
Solid Pick (White)
• No notable criticisms of the pick but expectations should be tampered as with any Day 3 Pick
Reach / Will Regret Not Taking… / Not a fan (Orange)
• (Round 4 & 5 only) Player was a notable reach and/or notably better players would have been better picks, but the player still had a draftable grade
• (Round 6 & 7) Player was evaluated and did not have a draftable grade Massive
Reach (Red)
• (Round 4 & 5 only) Team took a player who did not have a draftable grade OR reached multiple rounds while passing on several better options for the position

I dont understand why people would hate on These Draft Grades. Obviously no Analyst will get every grade right but no one’s sayin that. I know every one complaining doesn’t have the knowledge of someone like you, Marcus. Btw keep up your great work, hyped for your Deep Dives coming up
It’s probably mostly fans of teams who are mad their team got a bad grade
It's completely subjective, it doesn't take "knowledge" to give your opinion
Imo draft grades are inherently flawed because the landing spots will determine prospects success. So yes, you can give the picks grades, but judging the grades later on how the players turned out does not provide reflection on the initial scouting process because the landing spot is so crucial to player development
Because the Majority of people Hate Analysis & thinking. They prefer narratives. What their minds can't handle, they hate. How many examples do you want? Another analyst compared the amount of points Aaron Rodgers' Packers playoff teams gave up in 9 games to what Tom Brady's Super-Bowl winning teams gave up in entire 18-19 game seasons & it was more than double. So Rodgers had to score twice as many points & could still lose. The Reason most people think Brady is the goat makes them think he's a better QB than Rodgers. A Very Popular Narratrive is that only QBs create wins. Even analysts themselves soften forget all the nuances Marcus talks about here later when looking at wins & losses.
It’s all according to his board and it doesn’t take into account team strategy so in the end it’s not very useful but it’s fun.
I love this but I got a chuckle at TFG calling British Columbia, Canada "overseas" 😂
🤦
Tbf Gio Manu did grow up in Tonga so at least that is technically overseas lol
That's what I thought!
@@michaelshan22 he moved to Canada when he was 11 and played at CFL development camps for many years. He isn't some kid who grew up playing rugby like Jordan Mailata.
@@StoneColdClassics He may be the only person in history who came to Canada already speaking French & learning English. Not really but I can probably fool Americans into thinking so.
Essays are one of the most interesting types of content on KZhead. Just a Guy having a super interesting topic and arguing about certain aspects and underlining his opinion. Your Draft Content is the exact same thing, therefor i enjoy the work you put in, the structure you present your arguments and opinions… dont let those few comments discourage you from your amazing work. So many people enjoy it!
Glad you think so!
This. I will never understand the idea of some people dismissing an opinion on the draft just because it challenges the decisions made by their favorite team. It's fine to disagree and debate about it, but to go and say "YDKB" is just disrespecting all the time these creators put into their work. You came and clicked on this video for an opinion, and you're getting just that.
#70 for Duke just watching for draft analysis and catching strays 😭🙏
You have to remember Detroit's O'line is full of veterans and pro bowl caliber players. Manu has some dawgs to learn behind. I feel he went to a perfect situation in Detroit. If he gets his technique down he is gonna be a monster on that offensive line. I would put him right on the interior of that o'line so he doesn't have to be too quick with his feet. We can bring him in on goal line situation to open up holes in the middle for Gibbs and Monty. I noticed on tape he is very slow with his feet. I feel Edge rushers would tear him up off the edge if he played on the outside. But with his 352lb frame along with his height he could be a monster on the interior line after a year or two of development.
Man there is NO one having the quality of Marcus here. Been killing it for years. I been watching ever since the 2018 draft grades. Love the content and i cant wait to see my (our😉) panthers in the bottom 5 of the deep dives
Dude's awesome
As a Vikings fan, oh man this division is gonna be fun for a while. Every single one of these teams could be very scary and vying for the playoffs for the foreseeable future.
I agree. The NFC North might be the best division in football next year (along with the AFC North)
Well as a packer fan Caleb and JJ have to actually pan out for this division to be competitive. I really hope they do though. If that happens this is the best division in football QB wise.
@@TheJragon14it’s hard imagining Caleb not panning out. I just don’t see how it could happen
These teams are going to put the 'Black and Blue' into the 'Black and Blue' Division. I wouldn't be surprised to see three teams make it into the playoffs next year. It's going to be crazy.
@@jlsabinas8578 I agree. I sure hope the Vikings are one of them
3:53 I like how detailed your grading criteria is
Packers weren't the only team who valued Evan Williams in the 4th. There's been a ton of talk since the pick that multiple teams were hoping he'd fall to them in 4th specifically and would have pounced in a second if GB hadn't traded up. Also, the Packers weren't the only team to pass on Hicks 4 times, so I think the NFL knows something we don't. Final note, there were two defensive MVPs for the Senior bowl. One was Bullard, the other was, surprise surprise, Evan Williams.
"Hoping he fell..." means they didn't value him that high.
Are you Evan Williams
Like NFL scouts are 💯...Hicks is n will be a beast! On field coach n hits like a train!
Marcus, what a stupid comment..."(Gutes) already took a LB...!" So what, we need more LBs than 1 guy! And your guy, LB Walker, is the NFL leader in tackles 6yrds past LOS! If we took 3 LBs vs 3 S, it wouldn't have bothered me at all.
Like you, I wanted S Mustapha, too!
Day one of waiting for tfg to criticize the Commanders for drafting Jayden Daniels
He already did watch the video from after round 1
He did on draft night and the day after
Jayden Daniels reminds me a lot of Justin Fields.
@@jeffredfern3744Except smaller in basically every way
@@jeffredfern3744 than you don’t know ball. You just see dual threat Qb and think they play the same. Jayden can actually go through reads very efficiently unlike Justin who is usually a first read or run type of guy
Lions scouting department needs a raise.
@@joesephlestina8523 doesn't matter if you can or can't wait "for you guys [the Lions] to suck this year" the chance of that happening is near zero. I wish you knew how ignorant you are, and appear.
Penei Sewell, alim McNeil, Amon ra st Brown, iffy melifonwu, Aiden Hutchinson, James Houston, jahmyr Gibbs, Sam la porta, Brian branch. These are the highlights of the last three years, not all of the picks that have contributed. That's why the scouting department needs a raise. Sorry , I didn't check for spelling on all these guys, might have messed up a few
I like Evan Williams think you really underrated him
Always love these! Outside of the deep dives these are my favorite videos you put out!
Everyone is missing that Montez sweat is ALSO from this draft class (we traded the second for him) AND Ryan Bates (fifth round). When you add those two guys, this is an even better draft ...they are the reason we only had 4 picks
Jack Cambell was solid.
Last year was my first time watching your draft grades, now that i know what to expect im excited to watch them all. Love the content
Just on fire man. Elite content creator! Appreciate the love, Bear down
Let’s go, love this series!!
So excited to watch your channel from now on
Love these videos so much! Can't wait to see more.
Thank you Marcus so exited for this series!
Man I remember when I was struggling to finish college in 2019 cause I would always spend my spring semesters addicted to the draft and I’ve been watching and reading draft content for over a decade and no one does it like you TFG! You’re the goat Preciate you
Okudah ran a 4.48 and had insane broad and vertical jumps. He had an Achilles injury his rookie year. I think that was a bigger reason he's a bust than speed tbh.
Not to mention arnold was clocked at 21mph and rakestraw 22mph their long speed isn’t a concern.
The lions still have the eagles 4th rounder next year from trading d’andre switft.
Just a slight correction but the 4th we gave away was acc an extra one we got from the eagles last year from the swift trade. So rn we have all our picks left next year apart from our 3rd. Love all the draft coverage as always marcus!
A fourth round pick is still a fourth round pick, even if it's 'extra'. The only difference is it's an eagles pick, but both teams are playoff teams so either way it's a late pick. Not gonna argue one way or the other on the move. Just hate when people think that spare picks are spare picks. They're players, who are not only potentially good at football, but who are dirt cheap bodies which give you money for other starters. That's how the rams won a superbowl, drafting nine to fourteen times every round. (They were not, an F them picks organization. They just liked to get sure assets up top, and trade down lower. They had more 'home grown' (players they drafted) than any team in the NFL that year)
@deathhimself1653 the only reason for the correction was because marcus said we didn't have our fourth round pick next year. Was simply saying we do still have it, I completely understand it's still a player etc.
@deathhimself1653 and quite frankly I didn't at any point say it was a spare pick, just that it was an extra one.
Just a quick note, who is we? What team? Not attacking you, just trying to point out that not everyone is in the same sports bubble and knows which team you are referencing.
@@deathhimself1653 Very Few People can sustain nuanced thinking. Assets are assets. Despite some good moves, Omar Khan wasted assets on Van Jefferson & Quez Watkins. Then he sat & watched Stefon Diggs go to the Texans for slightly less than what he gave up for them because he had nothing left to get *him* with. I wonder who is going to produce more this season? All I can get from Steelers fans is that they think Russ isn't washed & that Khan really upgraded the o-line. Last year's o-line got to the playoffs with Trubisky & Rudolph. I think they needed receivers more. Doesn't completing passes _also_ reduce the amount of pressure on the o-line? No nuance.
Good take on the Lions. I agree with your plusses and minuses of our draft.
Glad to be back in the good graces of (most) Lions fans.
@@ThatFranchiseGuy You are among a long list of people that have had to adjust to the scheming of the Lions leadership. Its somewhat radical, very intense and still essential to the roots of football success . They did a really good job as being ex-players of picking out intangibles being missed by other orgs, while still focusing on all the essentials expertly. Their all new organization being placed within the shell of the most famously losing franchise in history is hard to give the benefit of the doubt. But, as they say, the proof is in the pudding and the pudding is going be quite tasty this year :)
The best part of the offseason is the one where Marcus puts out his draft grades and team breakdowns. It's the kind of in-depth, well-researched, balanced content you really can't find for free anywhere else.
haven't been able to keep up with the draft and your coverage as much as I used to but wanted to congratulate you on 100K subscribers!! We've come a long way since the Packers took Dillon and Degaura back2back and you instantly went and got a drink🤣🤣🤣
This division is gonna be so fun to watch. As a Jordan Love fan gonna be great to see him continue to develop
People keep leaving out Tyrique Stevenson in that Bears trade, and I'm not sure why. He had a pretty great rookie year and it only seems like he's improving. 2023 stats: 65 solo tackles, 2 forced fumbles, 4 interceptions, and 16 passes defended. Total compensation for the Bears trading down from the #1 overall pick in 2023: WR DJ Moore 2023 1st round pick (OT Darnell Wright) 2023 2nd round pick (CB Tyrique Stevenson) 2024 1st round pick (QB Caleb Williams) 2025 2nd round pick
Ty for this detailed video!
LOVE THIS CONTENT!
Lions still have 7 picks next year. And Vaki is going to play on all the special teams, so don't look at him as just a safety or a RB (and we only have 3 safeties on the roster before the draft, so I'm not sure what players you were referring to) Also, I hit that like button for you, Marcus. I appreciate you admitting that you were wrong about Detroit's draft last year and I do like to hear your opinion
FWIW, SHARP Football Analysis rated these teams as having the most valuable draft classes: 1. Detroit Lions 2. Miami Dolphins 3. Kansas City Chiefs 4. Pittsburgh Steelers 5. Philadelphia Eagles Lions are in their window. So it would make sense they give up a 3rd to get a piece they really believe in. Apparently they still have a 4th next year, just not a 3rd.
They traded the pick Philly gave them for Swift back to them
I love your assessment of the Vikes draft. Very fair. Most draft classes struggle to result in more than 1 or 2 quality long term starters and both the Bears and Vikes seem to have that covered despite making fewer picks. I think the Reichard pick is sneaky good - taking the first kicker off the board and potentially getting that 3rd long term quality starter, over throwing a dart at a group of fundamentally flawed players hoping to find the one that can rise above. Khyree Jackson adds a physical profile that is currently lacking in the Vikes CB room, and UDFA Dwight McGlothern arguably adds another layer of depth there too. The Vikes UDFA class also includes 5 or 6 intriguing players that would not have surprised had they gone in the 7th. Edge Gabe Murphy, McGlothern and TE Trey Knox all seemed to be draftable players, and big OGs Jeremy Flax and Doug Nester, and LBs Dallas Gant and Bo Richter also had some fans and would have been plausible picks in the 7th. It doesn't seem unrealistic to see from future contributors emerging from that group - similar to Ivan Pace, Andre Carter (this year) and ST gunner Najee Thompson did in 2023.
TFG blessing us packers fans with great content once again❤️
Best analyst on KZhead!
"Fly around, blow shit up" when describing Cooper, absolutely love to hear that as a Pack fan! 🔥
Marcus great analysis especially taking into account the future draft capital included in some of the trades. I like the Bears strategy of picking great players and feel the Lions overpaid for getting back into the draft early days 3. I agree that the Packers draft appears not to be great (I feel the grade could have been even lower) and I am lower on the Vikings as they have limited picks next year.
Ready to start the draft grade journey!
Draft grades the day after are silly and I can’t get enough of them.
I agree with your grade for the Lions but I don’t really care if teams in the Lions position get aggressive and trade mid to late round picks to get guys they want. Great grades as always though! I’m looking forward to your 9 win prediction for the lions this year 😈
I wouldn't be surprised at all if 3 NFC North teams made the playoffs next season
As a Vikings fan I'd be surprised, since JJ is likely sitting behind Darnold this year
@mindcontrolization Even if he is I doubt it would be for very long, especially if Darnold plays like shit. I can see any of the 4 teams in the division making the playoffs even the Vikings since JJ would be walking into almost as good of a situation as Caleb
@@jackhammer2506better situation* better OL, i’d say pretty evenly matched weapons but a far better playcaller in KOC for the Vikes. Both are very good situations tho.
My favorite time of year.. can’t wait til it’s full team breakdown season🔥🔥
13:52 I understand that this is a football video and not a geography one, but any American should know there is no sea separating Canada.
FYI. Those crazy fourth down go for it plays Dan Campbell like usually work. Like 70%!of the time. And when Brad Drafts someone they stay on the roster because they perform at a high level. Like all but two prospects are still on the team. One was poached from the practice squad when they tried to stash him there.
I will say on your comment about Packers WRs. With or without Watson the Packers feel very confident in what they saw from their top 6 WRs last year. Even the Bo Melton's of the world showed promise. But Doubs, Wicks, Reed, Melton, and Heath all looked at least solid. Plus we have a good looking 1 2 punch at TE in Musgraves and Kraft. Very bright future for this receiving core. If Watson is healthy that is just a big bonus.
So who are the Bears drafting at QB in 3 years?
Arch manning!
Has to be Archie
Montgomery is only on contract for one more year after this and Vaki is a 4 phase special team player. He will be our RB3, a backup S/LB, and play teams. He will save at least one roster spot, if not two, and he may also be a KR. That is extremely valuable.
Solid takes.
Giovanni Manu played in Canada not over seas was playing in the Canada West college football
The US is an island obviously
Bro the nail painting bothering ppl is WILD 🤣🤣🤣 also interested to see how things play out with him. Not sure if the "character issues" r legit or just people being dumb like with the nails. Would like to see the Bears succeed
You got the Mahogany pick right...a massive steal.....NFC North is the best in football next season.
hopper apparently also is like king where his tape in 2022 is much better plus his testing numbers were also better in private workouts for them he ran a low 4.5 apparently
Draft grades are always great
Double dipping on cornerback makes sense for the lions in the NFC North. The NFC North is completely loaded at the wr positiob. Have you seen the reciever cores for the Packers, Vikings, and Bears? Without adequate corner play, you're essentially asking Goff to win 6 shoutouts a year vs. division rivals.
You actually described why the Lions got Vaki. Since they have to essentially carry Manu on the roster they needed to steal a roster spot and Vaki AFFORDS the Manu pick. Brad Holmes... Vaki plays multiple roles for the 53 man roster (even as backup) in just one person.
As a bears fan I’m cool with Tory Taylor, I think he probably wanted SVP but he went 2 picks before this so oh well.
Like I said previously, your are a football walking encyclopedia! You know so much about football and you should be an NFL scout someday...
Ok, Marcus, you n your fellow GB pod-pundits have helped me to simmer down re our draft picks...or, more specifically, Gutes' draft picks. I know, I know...trust Gutes but...I've got a brain, too. When I saw those 2 bizarre picks LAST yr of K/QB, I didn't have anything personally against those guys, but they just seemed like UDFA guys. And, of course, any player can make it regardless of their draft selection. But, like you, I believed last yr's n this yr's draft prospects were available until P255. In my mind, there should never be a throw-away pick cause ya never know who will turn into the next Tauscher, Bart Starr (R15?), Brady, Purdy or Packer's team WR stats leader (ala Driver)! So, maybe I'm wrong n Hopper, Monk n Glover turn out to be beasts. But even your intro to this yr's GB grades began w/the caveat re head-scratching draft pick decisions. Even OT Morgan vs IOL Barton or bypassing CB/S DeJean 2x deserves some queries. But, who knows...picking these guys is like hiring personnel n getting it wrong 50%...guess it's just human nature n a proverbial crap-shoot!
As a Lions fan who is uber protective of his teams decision I thought you were spot on. We have a big need for CB else I might not have been so excited to trade a 3rd round pick on Terrion. I didn't see the need to trade up for Sione, either. He's a good player for sure, but I didn't see in the tape what justified trading up. We shall see...
Basically what Holmes said was that the game he stepped in and played RB he looked elite, and that was while not even practicing the position. Also the fact the he stepped up and played a position he didn’t even major at (was the term BH used) just shows what kind of teammate he is.
Not sure how the slam of Sean Clifford was "proven to be correct." Clifford looked like a good backup QB in camp and in preseason. If anything, the jury is still out. You basically said that he's not a draftable player and shouldn't be in the NFL, but the Packers felt comfortable enough in his ability to only keep 2 QBs for most of the season. So that's my one bone to pick. That said, you do a fantastic job and I really respect your work. The Deep Dive series is one of my favorite things on KZhead and I'm so excited because it's almost that time of year
A punter is defensive help when you go from the worst in the league (lower than some team's backups) to the best prospect of all time.
Finally feeling confident as a Bears fan after all these years 🥹🥹
Vaki is 1000% a “new kickoff rule” pick. He’s scoring at least 3 times on special teams this season
Important to note also that Minnesota had one of the best UDFA classes. They picked up Gabe Murphy (an absolute steal), as well as Dwight McGlothern, Dallas Gant and Tyler Knox. Thsoe 3 guys were all supposed to be Rd 5-7 guys.
Slightly biased maybe cause I am a Packers fan. But id give them a B+ or A- main reasoning is i feel like there should be more weight given to the fact we had 11 picks this year. While some my seem less powerful its the kind of thing you can do with the extra draft capital.
Your two red grades made me lol for the packers, never doubt gutey.
Dude sucks (gudekunst)
I’d be curious to hear you talk to the Bootleg guys about Evan Williams. They kind of had the opposite take on him
The NFC North was great last year, anyway heres a recipe for a Choclate Chip Cookie: 1/2 cup melted butter 2/3 cup light brown sugar 1/2 granulated sugar 1 large egg 1 teaspoon vanilla extract 1 1/2 cup all purpose flour 1/2 teaspoon bicarbonate of soda 1 teaspoon salt 1 cup chocolate chips Bake at 325°F
Do you have one for someone allergic to eggs?
What about no nuts??
Would've loved Khyree Jackson for GB at 91 instead of Hopper. Also, I would've liked Dominique Hampton instead of Williams in the 4th
The fact that some teams only make a couple pics should be factored in. Chicago made just a handful and had to lose future pics to do it. The draft is often a gamble, more picks matters.
need the best division (afc north) next 🤞
Cant wait for the afc east breakdown
The nfc north set up to be a elite division assuming the 1st rounders all hit which is a question but good to see won't be any terrible teams in the division
Ryan Poles said Tory Taylor is the best punter he’s ever seen. Instant starter for the next couple decades at a position of need
Yeeeee-haw!!!
Draft grades are for FUN and so we can have an easy, fun and straightforward way to discuss each teams draft picks. It bothers me that some people refuse to understand that. Not everything is about being right or wrong
caleb painting his nails is so awesome dude so happy this guy is gonna be the face of the league
Jesus what is with you people and your obsession with him painting his nails. Who cares?
💯
yesssss
im keen to see your Panthers grades because i was a little mad that Cooper DeJean as well as Kool-Aid was there for them in the second round but they traded down and traded back up for a running back.. just seemed a little silly
If we didn’t trade up for Arnold then he’d be in Green Bay
TFG, how do you get access to coaches film for both NCAA and NFL?
You’re the GOAT
I thought they were all fair well thought out and non bias ngl. Bears nailed it just a lil torn on the punter but 🤷♂️. Booker made up for it. I just wanted Malik mustapha cuz he was there and he was ur best Safety.
Pat bev taught Harden the step back three there’s always room to learn from others having Allen in the building will be helpful
The Lions also traded a 3rd round pick for Carlton Davis so I feel like you could add him to this draft class
I honestly think you'll like Monk at G and be happy about the pick later.
🐐
As a Lions fan I agree don’t love the capitol they gave up to make the draft happen. But if you just told me these are the guys they got I love it. Only down 1 third round pick next year. Let Brad Cook!!!
Don’t forget what the Viking gave up to get the 23rd pick! They gave up their 2024/2025 seconds to get the 23rd pick. Then their 2025 3rd and 4th round picks to get to 17!!!!
Terrion Arnold was a coin flip away from being the Raiders pick @ #13. The coin flip landed on Bowers.
Falcons breakdown is going to be hilarious
A+++
Vikes fan here, have fun with Joseph next year, he was awful. Curious if you're doing analysis video on UDFAs. I normally wouldn't care about it but the vikes seem to be killing it on that end and would love to have your thoughts.
Saw they got McGovern and Murphy! Definitely should have been drafted IMO
So I get that special teams doesn’t get any consideration from youtube GMs, but some teams (like Detroit) highly highly value STs.. Sione Vaki, detroit sees as a possible elite ST player he can return kicks and punts, he can hit, and he can also play depth RB and safety the pick makes sense, just not from a youtube GM pov
Draft may be over, but at least we still have draft content
I kind of love the Tory Taylor pick for the Bears (pretending Booker and him were flipped). Gill was pretty terrible last year and Santos has rather limited range so Taylor actually might be the most important defensive player in backing up the opposing team behind the 15 whenever the offense doesn’t score. Drafted a position you don’t need to worry about for the next 10 years
I was in the middle of writing a comment relating Kalen King to Kevin King and then TFG immediately made the comparison 😂
Lol Vaki was announced as a RB, he’s the best receiving back in the class and can play SubLB too
Is Kalen King playing corner? I saw him as a safety in the next level
