Watch Dev's full extended interview on BBC iPlayer now in the UK: www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/p0hnbxr2/ Featuring producer Jordan Peele on how he helped bring the movie to the big screen.
What we want to say to the BBC channel is whether they can telecast Modi's video again
I wish this film make at least 400 million so that we could see dev make more films like this
👍
It only has a budget of around $10,000,000. So it probably only needs around 20-30 million to make a profit.
Just seen it, great film👍
It's made its budget back in 3 days
Yes let’s pray it hits $400M Here’s what i said earlier (Caps are excitement!!!) MONKEY MAN MATH MONKEY MAN (Dev Patel) = ENTER THE DRAGON (Bruce Lee) BLOODSPORT (Van Damme) + ROCKY & RAMBO (Sly) + JOHN WICK (Keanu) + EQUALIZER (Denzel)!!!!! Super must watch - I predict MONKEY MAN 2 - it’s the next iconic series for generations to come!!! Just like those I mentioned
I would like to petition for Ali to have reserved 30+ min interviews for all the press junkets, it would be a win-win-win situation 🙏
he's the only interviewer that i genuinely enjoy watching and doesn't make it mad awkward. Like i get why it happens but Ali a hood legend.
I think anyone he's interviewed before would absolutely be down for that cos they all seem to genuinely love him
Spike Lee said that in an interview. That it was nice to speak to someone that was knowledgeable and passionate about film. That he enjoyed it.
It's a miracle that this film was still made and distributed despite everything. Dev Patel has a bright future as a director and Jordan Peele is a saint for putting this out, I fucking love the both of them
I know the way things just kept getting worse and so many problems they had to face I would've been crying everyday if it was me. He's strong for continuing on
@themango9644 right? The more I looked into it the longer the list got of things going the worst way they could lmao. This film is a huge achievement no doubt
The film was absolutely fucking flawless.
@@amarq7 it really was
@@amarq7 Idk about flawless. It has some pacing issues & it missed some tie the knot moments from some characters but other than that it was a amazing movie.
Absolute gem of an interview.
"can I give you an hug man?" dev patel ur awesome
you can tell when a person is genuinely just good and nice. he is that person.
Great interview. We are all really proud of him. I spent over two years creating vfx on this film and knew Dev had gold from the first day, id often say to my team Dev's the type of director that we just don't have anymore.... So happy for everyone involved.
🥰🥰🥰
If what you said is true than i would like to say thank you, i hope the best for you, the whole crew, and Patel.
Just went to see it yesterday and it's fantastic. It blows my mind how amazing Dev is, to have written directed and acted in it and it's just an amazing action film
Congratulations on your work for this movie!! This movie was perfect, exceptional storytelling and incredible acting & directing!!! What a brilliant mind Dev has
Thank you for being a part of such a dope cinematic experience!
I guess this is one proof on why stars like this interviewer
I don’t think any realises that the man playing the tabla is an absolute legend in India
Yes... Had the great privilege of seeing him live in bangalore in the mid to late 90s. He performed with Amjad Ali Khan at Protima Bedi's Nrityagraam. One of the most amazing moments of my life. He is amazing!
That guy could hype up the dead back. Man got skills
Really Rooting for Dev. He has put his heart, life and soul into this
the behind the scenes extras on the DVD of this movie will be worth every penny
Do they still make those ? I havent bought a dvd since like 2006 😅
@@user-we8lj6us9ndefinitely BluRay still killing it 📀
I am PUMPED to see this film. It looks so phenomenal and he put his blood sweat and tears in this film. I am so proud and so excited
It's good
Action scenes are good buts it's woke towards the middle of the film
He started as a simple actor and developed into a tremendous actor, and now director, his acting in lion was so touching and made me cry none stop ❤
It’s insane when we hear all these things set to fail a movie. It usually happens, and we see on the big screen reflecting the disasters behind the scenes. But despite everything, he made it happen. That’s drive and passion.
I completely echo Ali's opening compliment about being proud of Dev. I know I don't know him, and parasocial relationships are unhealthy etc etc but I can't help it. He's come so far and just seems so appreciatative of all of his success. He seems like he hasn't forgotten who he is and I love that for him.
Wtf with being proud are you his effing daddy? The kid doesnt give a flying hoot if you or the knob Ali are proud.
He poured his heart and soul into this movie and it really shows in the final product. I hope he makes another and that production goes down much easier!
Just got back from watching the film in theaters and it was phenomenal!!!! The story, cinematography, soundtrack, action; everything was so well done!
The best bits in the film are how they gave an auto rickshaw a pimp my ride. Like that was so bad ass as auto rickshaws are an integral part of India. And then the tabla training sequence. Exquisite concept.
I just finished the movie and oh my god. It was not what I expected. I cried afterwards. I though it would a John wick movie but it was more than that. I love that it wasn’t just an action movie. I loved the story. It was heavy and heartfelt. Dev Patel did everything right.
Dev tearing up at the end :")
this film looks incredible in everyway possible . This interview was brilliant .
I've seen the movie. it was awesome.
It was great. I loved it.
Apparently this movie is banned in India cuz of Red party symbol which is against the ruling party in India .
@@ivaerz4977not banned just not yet approved. Will probably be released after being adjusted
What a beautiful interview with beautiful people. I had no idea this film existed but I'm definitely gonna watch it.
Man, I wanted to give Ali and Dev a hug after watching this interview. What a beauty!
Wasn’t sure about this movie. But after seeing the interview, I’m more pumped to see this film.
Dav Patel such a good actor, I really look forward to watching this.
I thought the film was brilliant, now watching this interview and understanding the difficulties and limitations they faced making it…I am blown away! Unbelievable from Dev Patel 👏🏼
Incredibly wholesome, what a humble guy!
Ali saying Jugaad was not something I ever expected but I loved it!
😍
Man he's FINEEEE 💥
As someone who has always love film, and recently in the past 2 years I've been working behind the scenes (nothing too crazy) I've been inspired to direct my own short films. I have bought myself a rebel T7 camera so I can at least start somewhere, and every time I try to film it always goes wrong, and seeing Dev Patel direct, write, produce, AND act in his film, it has inspired me much more to always push through and just wing it because you'll never know what can happen. Especially after watching the film in the theaters, I came out with tears not only because of how great this film was, but how Dev Patel really blew it out of the waters even though he went through complications. So this is an amazing motivator not only to me, but many other inspiring directors or actors.
Do not give up. Every darkness end with lightness.
I can't wait to put my money into supporting this movie. Jeeeeez, the amount of scrambling they did for this low-budget film. And for it to still look that good??!!!! We have to support independent films like this!!!!!!
i aint putting a penny to this overhyped movie using indian culture to degrade India like they did with slumdog
Dev is a complete genuine sweetheart ❤ the way he talks & reacts is just so genuine
Just saw it today on a quality RPX screen and the movie was bonkers great! Patel did one whale of a job along w/ his co-writers and a fantastic crew of largely Indian actors and production crews who clearly know how to do full-blown action flick. Patel is just as great in the lead.
I'm already going to see this film, but this interview makes it a MUST SEE!!! Great interview and much respect to Dev and his crew for their efforts! Looking forward to seeing it this weekend!
I watched this movie day one. I feel I need to rewatch it 10 times to honour this mans effort. Great film.
I watched the movie and I can’t believe the movie looks this fucking good with all these circumstances omg. Like the cinematography was some of the most beautiful shots I’ve seen! I agree, his passion and love for his culture shined through beautifully.
Hyped for this film. Dev Patel 👌
It’s amazing
The way they complimented each other! Hoping this is more normalized for men
saw this on thursday… absolutely fantastic film… wow hope dev continues to have confidence in his work and bring us many more original stories like this!
This is a wonderful interview. Also, I thought Tom Cruise was crazy when he continued filming after only a month when he broke his ankle, but maybe Dev is more crazy. That's dedication.
So in love with Dev after seeing this that I had to see it again
Cant wait to see this🙏🏻 he literally dragged it into existence
Just saw this movie. Incredible. Even moreso knowing he wrote, directed and starred in it.
Absolutely adored this film. What a great interview as always
The movie is amazing! I started the interview before I went to see it and stopped about like 7 minutes in and now im finishing it and omg, amazing movie. Loved it.
I am so glad I watched it in a theater. Dev Patel deserves everything and more!!!!! I am rooting for you forever.
i hate the word passion cause it's sometimes corny-sounding but dev patel is passion personified
Wow, hearing the back story now makes what Dev achieved doubly impressive. We all want to be seen and heard and to learn from each other. I loved it 🎉🎉❤
Respect for this guy ⬆⬆⬆
this film is INSANE, i hope everyone will give it a watch.
Love Dev. He is awesome.
I saw the movie in a sneak peek, and it was good with the action but also when the emotional reason why his character was so tortured and the want for vengeance which pushed him towards that. For this being his first director's run, I think Dev did well.
This guy is a legend for creating a masterful film like Monkey Man . All credit to him ! Those who are saying it's messy are jealous trolls because this film is directed and produced amazingly ! Throughly enjoyed watching the film and even more so because its by Dev Patel a legend in my eyes !!
This is what I call law of averages, works in favor or artists with passion hard work and never give up attitude, way to go Dev! May you get all the success that you never dreamt of! 🙏
This interview was SO inspiring. Seeing Monkey Man tonight ✨
It was Ali truly appreciating Dev Patel with his whole heart .. and Dev Patel beaming with satisfaction that someone worthy is actually saying "Good Job" .. This was such a wonderful watch for me ...
Absolutely flawless film. I was blown away.
Just came from the theater w/ my fam and loved every minute of this film. So good.
Dev is such a sweetheart 🥰
Ali is an amazing interviewer as always.
This interview made me go book a solo ticket to see this film. Thank you! It was an incredible movie. 😮
Dev is so fantastic
can I give you a hug man? awwwww Dev you are so precious, you are as usual amazing Ali 😍
I saw it this past Thursday. I Really was impressed by Dev! Hearing about how much work went into making the film what it was only makes me appreciate all the more! It was just...a phenomenal story-start to finish!
No cause the amount of time I waited for new Dev Patel content 😩😩😩
literally one of the best films i’ve seen
So glad the interviewer said this, because that is exactly how I feel - and I don't even know him personally. From Skins to THIS. Yeah, I am SUPER proud of him. This is literally one of the best films I've ever seen, and I've seen SO many films. Makes me emotional, that's how proud I am of him and what he made. I hope he really takes it in and feels it in his heart. I love, love, love this movie. So glad it exists. 10/10
Why am I crying at the ending!?!? amazing interview, amazing movie!
May he make many many more films.
Gonna see this movie for Dev Patel 👌❤
Now I want to see this move more than ever
Just watched it!! It was awesome! Dev Patel is the new John Wick. His fighting scene is solid! Great story line. I was torn on what to watch between Monkey Man and The First Omen. So glad I chose the Monkey Man. 💯💯💯👏👍🏻❤️😊
Between this and Polite Society, I am loving the rise of Indian martial arts movies. I hope to see more in the future because Monkey Man is an absolute banger 🤌
Wow I’m totally impressed by his ingenuity given how much money is spent on huge productions that it takes talent and dedication to make something of value
Just watched the film - it was amazing. Dev Patel did an incredible job, and his passion for the project shone through.
One of my favorite films of Dev's is The Road Within. He was heartbreaking, funny, & maddening as a young man who has OCD. I'm so glad he's getting the opportunity to get behind the camera. Can't wait to see what he does next.
As an action film fanatic , I'm ready
This is a super super film. I loved dev’s fight scenes especially when he hit the punching bag to the tabla sound. That was amazing. Can’t believe this is a low budget film. It was that good. I’m gonna watch it again. ❤❤❤❤
this movie was absolutely gorgeous and genuinely felt so high budget. You'd never know there was so much chaos happening behind the scenes. Can't wait to see more from him
you best believe I will be following what this man goes on to do
Im so proud of him too! thanks for speaking for the people
Hats of and huge respect for this man, hearing about all the hardship he had but he kept going makes me more excited to watch it tonight.
Would 1000% listen to a podcast of these two talking movies, or just about anything.
Can we all collectively watch this movie (if it’s good multiple times) to help out the dedicated crew that made this movie possible. Holy shit, so much respect
Great interview. Will be seeing the film this weekend. Always happy to see ppl as passionate as Dev getting to tell their story.
Going to see this today can't wait to see this action and emotional movie Dev is such a underrated actor
Dev 👑I'd call you Mr. Miracle👑It's a miracle you pull this off! MY GOSH!
Love dev Patel and interviewer .
Great interview. This movie had me beyond stoked on theaters. Great work and blessings on future works!
Hearing all of this, so so glad that I went to watch this film and supported Dev! Really hope the film is a great financial success as well!
All the hard work clearly paid off because the movie is amazing!
Love dev Patel and also interviewer
So this explains why there was so many close ups and change in how fight scenes were filmed
Absolutely brilliant interview
Such an excellent interview! Can't wait to watch this movie
What fantasticly insightful and natural interview
Aaaahhhww, finally some feelgood!
Oh wow, I am going to cinema to watch this, he deserves it.
Dev ❤ loved hearing all the behind the scenes stuff really appreciate the hard work man!!
